A LOT of good artists this season. But Freddie and Bobby are on a ridiculously high level. Some of their tattoos are just unbelievable.

Agreed, his tattoo is the only one that was real art. Art doesn't need to be beautiful, or need to be clean with no errors. It needs to convey feeling and give you an emotion. When DJ says, "This tattoo made me throw up in my mouth" he should have followed up with, "and that's what is so incredible about it" because art can be uncomfortable and scary. This whole season was just Bobby dick riding, and when Joel had a chance to do the same for Freddie he didn't and gave it to Bobby for who knows what reason. @@jbee2649

Honestly tho! All of his work was super unique and bright. Everyone else made things that we’ve all seen before a million times and a lot of them seemed super dull and lifeless. The picture of Bobby’s tree was hideous to me, like i honestly feel like my 5 year old could’ve done it better but he won artist of the day🤮
Freddie was ahead of his time as an artist, he pushed boundaries even the judges were torn about, I think he will pave a new way in the tattoo industry, he has a unique style that is recognisable as Freddie and if you had a tattoo from him everyone would know it was a Freddie tattoo. He could turn skin into paint, combine styles that people wouldn’t naturally combine and from beginning to end learnt, improved, but stayed true to himself as an artist. The other finalists were amazing technicians too but their work could be replicated by any other top game tattooist out there. No one could replicate Freddie, he was a standalone and a leader for what tattoo could be and could become, he pushed boundaries and never played it safe. I hope the show brings him back again somehow because he has a lot to show the tattoo art world that hasn’t been seen before.

Freddie having his own style doesn’t make him an ink master though. And I’d argue Freddie couldn’t replicate a lot of these other artists work solely because he’s changed almost every style in the comp to a Freddie tattoo.
@@skyemadisyn163I disagree I think his three pieces in the final show exactly what he has learned perfectly. His time through the challenges reflects on the art I think on a technical skill his outshines Bobby’s but I also think because of this he was doing too much and I do believe in the end they want to see who you’ve become as a result of the challenges which Bobby’s three pieces going together show that consistency

I like that this season seems to be... nicer. It's more about the artistry of tattooing. Not so much shit-talking each other, far less of the cuts to various competitors shaking their head and being angry that another artist got complimented. Less of the petty BS and drama. I watch this stuff to see the tattoos, not to watch a soap opera starring tattoo artists. The artists seem to actually be happy for each other, recognize the talent of each other, and everyone puts out better art for it, since they don't seem nearly so stressed. It's a better show with better tattoos coming out of it.

Yeah, I always hated the fake fights and hating on each other in the other shows. Typical American, faked drama.
We also had Ink Master BeNeLux. It was quite boring, but there was no drama. No fights, no hating, just people sharing passion.

Almost everything that Freddy created, was a spectacular tattoo. What a phenomenal season! So many talented artists that were deserving of the title 🙏
I disagree yes parts of them were good but that lazy two year old scribble was just lazy nothing more
Freddy hit so many different looks in all his tattoos, I honestly thought he should of won, Bobby is good too, but freddy is more well rounded in my opinion

Freddie's body of work is hinting that he could be a generational talent in the tattoo world. Bobby is a wizard and a technician, but Freddie is hands down the creative mad genius.

Freddy’s “mistake” tattoo was so appealing to me. Eye of the beholder, I suppose, but everything shown in this clip revealed some enviable artistry.
I think he was just too forward thinking for most of the judges except Ryan and Niko who could appreciate that his tattoos were visionary and beautiful but because they were a style all his own, they basically voted for the safe option. While I’m not saying Bobbie isn’t a brilliant technically good tattooist, Freddie stood in a class of his own and personally I think he was robbed of the win by the other artists lack of ability to see past tried and tested methods and embrace something new. Freddie will be talked about for ages for his visionary tattoos and I’m afraid, as good as he was, Bobby will fade from many people’s memories.
I agree, the mixed proportionality was an obvious purposeful choice to suit the style of "collage of styles" that is Freddie's theme and the "grotesque as beauty" an aesthetic that is heavily femme and queer coded. The tattoo was NOT a mistake in my opinion.
I couldn’t get over how weird it looked. His final tattoo was amazing and I’d feel blessed to have it, but that gray scale one I just couldn’t get behind as a woman lol to me it was just too weird
was she supposed to look like a midget? or was the proportions being way off apart of what he was going for? I really just cant get passed how weird she looks on purpose or not, but he shoulda won on that last tattoo alone
The whole body to head composition was completely off, like the last judge said it felt like a massive mistake was made, and he had to make the body smaller to compensate
I appreciate Bobby but damn Freddy’s artistic expression is on a whole other level. Don’t get why they’re giving him shit when DJ’s winning backpiece was similar (love it to bits but lmao the back wasn’t even completed )
I Hated Dj's winning back piece, ngl. I get the appeal for some people but I am definitely not one of them and it being next to the beautiful composition of Gian's backpiece just made it more obvious to me. But you're also absolutely right about Freddy's artistic style being close to DJs. It's interesting sometimes to see how much the winners really just come down to whatever the new judges like rather than following any actual rules, like how what's her name picked that guy even though the tattoos were in an entirely wrong style.

I came to realise that they are not just looking for the best tattoo artist but the best tattoo personality. One that is great for TV.
I only watch it now to see the amazing art now and that’s about all.

I notice as the seasons progress, the young tattoo artists keep getting more and more artistic and talented.
Right? Thats exactly what I was thinking.
Older tattoo artists either become more rigid and set in a particular style, because they have failed, which can make them hesitant. Younger artists tend to push through a new frontier with far less fear and hesitation, as they may have yet to be scarred by a catastrophic fail. That aside, the skill and attention to detail by some of these young artists pushes beyond some of the seasoned pros.
I hate nothing more than seeing someone as good as Freddy be let down that close to winning.

@MrOnlineGaming sadly you see it way too often in this show its probably its 2nd biggest flaw imo (1st being that they will send someone home in a challenge because they did poor in previous challenges even if they weren't the absolute worst on the day)
💯 this. His tattoos were beautiful, but I don’t think they were better than Freddie’s. Freddie’s landscape was way more impressive. AND Bobby’s tattoos didn’t even meet the challenge! Can’t believe he won that one…

Freddy was the best, you can recognize his style in every tattoo he made. I can't tell that about the ones Bobby did for the finale.
Don’t get me wrong Bobby is an amazing artist, but I feel like at times Dj was biased towards picking his tattoo. Both Bobby and Freddie are incredible tattoo artists, but in my humble opinion I think Freddie should have won, his creativity and artistry is insane.

This is the first time I agreed with the judges every season I get pissed to the point I have not watched it again until this one. I'm glad bobby won

This season is just one of the best of ink master. These are good artists, they care more about their art than drama and shit talking about each other and that is what we want!!

JOZZY's western tattoo was very impressive
Bobby is good but Bobby is the type of Inkmaster that we've seen 1000 times over. His performance in the completion wasn't anywhere near Freddie's. Freddie is an artist the like of which this competition has never seen and he was consistently good across the entire competition. Bobby didn't even meet the challenge every time and he just kept getting a pass. The jury of boring, American traditional guys robbed Freddie of his title. He will always be my Inkmaster ❤

See I felt the same way, like I've seen all of Bobby's tattoos before. I haven't seen Freddie's, and I think that's a huge reason that he should have won this.
I don't have a tattoo and don't want one, but if I had to take one I'd choose Freddy on technical skills but only if he promised not to screw it up with those scribbles he puts over his masterpieces.
Guess my taste is more old school art instead of modern, always hard to argue about taste hehe.

i looooved Freddie and Bobby's art. Bobby's second tattoo(the greyscale) in the finals is something i would absolutely have loved for myself. and i love Freddie's style, his 12 hour piece was sick asf

Freddie crushed this season. Innovative, creative tattoos. Bobby did good regular tattoos but Ink Master gives the win to whoever suit more their style to become a host later. Many times they favorite someone from the beginning, @Inkmaster is not fair and this is like the 6th time I see they favorite someone. Fake show again.

Also, fuck DJ for his comment about that tattoo making him want to vomit. The judges acting like it looked unintentional was ridiculous to me, the proportions were clearly intended. It was giving me a Dadaist vibe. I know plenty of women who would not only wear that tattoo but for whom it would fit perfectly into their aesthetic. Total conversation piece. I think DJ and his 3 wins didn't want an Inkmaster more creative than him.

What a hell of a season, I mean some of the pieces these guys were doin day 1 were finals material of seasons past. I love how elegant Bobby's pieces are, they are just soooo clean and tight every time, and I think that's where he takes it over Freddie. It's like an Ali vs Tyson, one is sharp and clean, the other swings big with a chance to miss more than the other but has a higher ceiling of success when he lands. Anyone would be lucky to have a piece from either artist in my eyes, incredible work.
That was the most basic ass ink master choice. The judge even said nothing that Bobby did was like wow almost anybody could do that. Lol even when Bobby won it was so awkward… like everybody kinda felt Freddy got robbed. And even more when watching the best tattoos over the entire season.
Seeing all these new types of machines is badass as well. For so many seasons it was the same type of machines we seen being used. And that art work is truly some of the best we’ve ever seen in Inkmaster history
DJ favored Bobby all season long it’s no surprise he won. DJ did say multiple times how he’s big fan of Bobby etc . Freddy crushed it in final challenge and got robbed yes I agree all 3 of Bobby’s were fantastic but so wasn’t Freddy’s . Either way u look at it was one of the best seasons yet . Now we need to see all the past Ink master champs go at it. All Past winners have gotten so much better since they won it would make for amazing season.
DJ voted for Freddie for tattoo of the day multiple times throughout the season how is that favoritism? They’re both phenomenal artist. But just like Gian there were ppl who had better finale tattoos

I reckon this has been the best season for quality tattoos across the board…..can’t think of any real major crappy or complete disasters, apart from that ‘experiment’ by Freddie in the final…….had it not been for that, he would have won hands down.

BOTH Artist's are Absolutely Incredible and Anyone would be fortunate to have work done by either of them. These Artists were/are, next-level. In the beginning, Bobby was blowing sht away, I love Neo-trad. However, based off the FINAL challenges, Freddie's work (FN' RAD) invokes the EMOTION, which is ultimately what this Art form and wearing skin art is about.
