It is amazing how much time, money, and labor went into building temples, churches, religious shrines that withstand hundreds and thousands of years, all to bring us universal messages of peace, love, honor. It is important to remind ourselves of that sometimes especially in an uncertain world. Or remember to wear more clothes when it is cold, have some soup as many grandmothers have etched into our brains like a carving.

The authority was concerned about people providing inaccurate and inappropriate information about the sacred temples. There were some bloggers purposely providing inappropriate and inaccurate information to generate more views.

𝚂𝚘 𝙳𝚘 𝙽𝚘𝚝 blame the guards and call them a 𝚂𝚌𝚊𝚖, they’re were doing their jobs of what been told to do so. The problem why they come after you is because You filming while talking to the camera, so they have to assumed you’re making some type of content or document, the rest of the people were filming too but they’re not talking to the camera they’re just take short videos or take some pictures which is allowed to do so.
Short answer is yes! also please ignore the negative comments from jealous thai people and dont listen to the fake histories they uploaded in social media. They are just mad they can not have Angkor wat infact they made a replica in the thai royale palace. we are also very sorry for what happen

You shouldn’t be sorry for the security guard. He was just doing his job. All of what the guard was saying is mostly true, new policy that was updated about a year ago. As tourist I don’t want to go to other people country and complain about their park rules and regulations as I come from an already privileged country and 36.00 would only get me to a cheap water park.

To all you Cambodians out there, the government made a stupid rule that you can no longer film at Angkor Wat with a specific type of camera without a permit (cash grab scheme). So it's not really the security guard's fault. However, if he was rude (video did not show this), then he needs to be put in check and chill TFO.
Hello guys. Sending love from Cambodia and are extremely sorry for what happen to you guys 😢. We always have beef with those Apsara authorities. Also besides Angkor wat theres other amazing places in Cambodia like koh rong, koh rong sanleom, koh ta kiev, six senses krabey island and koh russey. These are my favourite islands in Sihanoukville. Although Sihanoukville is a bit of a mess so i don't recommend staying there for too long cuz it will ruin your experience. Staying on the tropical islands are much better ❤

Permission was required to film, including for distribution to TH-cam. This is the sacred Angkor Wat, not Disneyland, so you should follow the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the regulations of the authorities. The security guards only responded appropriately. As a specific example, I understand that the on-site response was to warn people who were using tripods, as they were deemed to be working, not sightseeing. Just this month, in July 2024, the rules were revised to allow people to post on social media and take wedding photos without permission. However, filming for television and commercial purposes still requires review and permission. In addition, wedding photography is limited to traditional costumes, and I understand that filming that is inappropriate for Angkor Wat will continue to be prohibited.

Generally the Cambodians are NOT Scammers, but you do not need a PERMIT TO FILM I would report the experience back at the central office as well as having these people identified and removed. The ticket price was recently raised to the overprice of $US37 which considering the monthly wages of the average worker is$150-200 the fee is over the top (locals can visit free)

I think i can say on behalf of the people here that we sincerely apologize for what happened. Anyone can film and talk about the temple as it would benefit us as well with the spread of words. I hope that didn't stop you from enjoying the trip!
I have been many times and Angkor still blows my mind. The people are lovely, 80% live in the provinces and around 17% live below the poverty line. There is total corruption in the higher levels. Hun Sen is the longest serving prime minister and at the last democratic elections recently he outlawed the opposing party and put them in jail. Angkor is a huge money earner but you will notice that most of the restoration is being funded by China, and who attempted a huge take over of Cambodia but it backfired. Since covid every one has left and there are hundreds of multi-million dollar sky scrapers simply abandoned. That rule has been in force for a number of years, bottom line there are stupid people who do stupid stuff, so you do have to respect. I thought your comments were quite disrespectful, and to be honest they could have quite easily made an example of you and either pay the fine or go to jail. Cambodia demands respect and lets not forget is was only 50 odd years ago that 2 million died under the Khmer Rouge genocide.
The security guards requests were disrespectful and our comments were clear for them to understand. So no one has been disrespected by our side. They obviously didn’t expect us to stand up for ourselves, and they thought we would have given them money to be left alone. But we come from a country where corruption has ruined everything and we say no to corruption, especially when you are surrounded by a group of other tourists like us that are not being bothered. We felt safe enough in that scenario (being surrounded by other tourists) to stand up for ourselves and so we did. If standing up for yourself is disrespectful to your eyes, I’m sorry for you.
Sorry to see this happens to you. It should not happen to anyone especially tourists. I can tell you that it is not the rule that bares anyone from taking a video like this. I hope it won’t happen again. Best wishes.

If you care about the lovely people of Cambodia, I would encourage you to edit out the negative part and rise above it. It’s such a good video about an amazing place and that content ruins the whole video. Next time take your camera off your gimbal or stabilizer and look more like a tourist. I’m sure you would love to monetize your channel no? If you do you are filming for profit…then you need a permit. It’s time to put on your big boy pants and start editing.

I understand why foreigners would be upset, first the situation nowaday is Cambodian government tried to copy Thai culture and product and promote as Cambodian and after Thailand, India and other countries study deep down in the history, we learned that the builder of Angkor Wat is descendent of Ancient India and Thai people that is why they tried to prohibit to taked about real history and many cement renovation that is differernt from the original one that is why photos/videos are prohibited in many places
How low educated you are. When was the siam kingdom exist? Siamese people came from Chinese land and serve khmer people hundreds years before khmer empire collapsed in 13rd century. The first siam kingdom only existed in 13rd century. Even nowaday thai alphabet is from khmer alphabet 100 %• lots of khmer art and temple are still in thailand. Don"t you know that? Siamese people serving khmer emperor in the past. Siamese ancestors using Chinese language and then changed using khmer alphabets. Siamese custom are truely copying from khmer custom including culture and tradition. Go back to school and learn proper history. Don't try to thai to others.

To all you Cambodians out there, the government made a stupid rule that you can no longer film at Angkor Wat with a specific type of camera without a permit (cash grab scheme). So it's not really the security guard's fault. However, if he was rude (video did not show this), then he needs to be put in check and chill TFO.

Also besides Angkor wat theres other amazing places in Cambodia like koh rong, koh rong sanleom, koh ta kiev, six senses krabey island and koh russey. These are my favourite islands in Sihanoukville. Although Sihanoukville is a bit of a mess so i don't recommend staying there for too long cuz it will ruin your experience. Staying on the tropical islands are much better ❤

Permission was required to film, including for distribution to TH-cam. This is the sacred Angkor Wat, not Disneyland, so you should follow the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the regulations of the authorities. The security guards only responded appropriately. As a specific example, I understand that the on-site response was to warn people who were using tripods, as they were deemed to be working, not sightseeing. Just this month, in July 2024, the rules were revised to allow people to post on social media and take wedding photos without permission. However, filming for television and commercial purposes still requires review and permission. In addition, wedding photography is limited to traditional costumes, and I understand that filming that is inappropriate for Angkor Wat will continue to be prohibited.

Generally the Cambodians are NOT Scammers, but you do not need a PERMIT TO FILM I would report the experience back at the central office as well as having these people identified and removed. The ticket price was recently raised to the overprice of $US37 which considering the monthly wages of the average worker is$150-200 the fee is over the top (locals can visit free)

I think i can say on behalf of the people here that we sincerely apologize for what happened. Anyone can film and talk about the temple as it would benefit us as well with the spread of words. I hope that didn't stop you from enjoying the trip!
I have been many times and Angkor still blows my mind. The people are lovely, 80% live in the provinces and around 17% live below the poverty line. There is total corruption in the higher levels. Hun Sen is the longest serving prime minister and at the last democratic elections recently he outlawed the opposing party and put them in jail. Angkor is a huge money earner but you will notice that most of the restoration is being funded by China, and who attempted a huge take over of Cambodia but it backfired. Since covid every one has left and there are hundreds of multi-million dollar sky scrapers simply abandoned. That rule has been in force for a number of years, bottom line there are stupid people who do stupid stuff, so you do have to respect. I thought your comments were quite disrespectful, and to be honest they could have quite easily made an example of you and either pay the fine or go to jail. Cambodia demands respect and lets not forget is was only 50 odd years ago that 2 million died under the Khmer Rouge genocide.
The security guards requests were disrespectful and our comments were clear for them to understand. So no one has been disrespected by our side. They obviously didn’t expect us to stand up for ourselves, and they thought we would have given them money to be left alone. But we come from a country where corruption has ruined everything and we say no to corruption, especially when you are surrounded by a group of other tourists like us that are not being bothered.
We felt safe enough in that scenario (being surrounded by other tourists) to stand up for ourselves and so we did.
If standing up for yourself is disrespectful to your eyes, I’m sorry for you.

It’s such a good video about an amazing place and that content ruins the whole video. Next time take your camera off your gimbal or stabilizer and look more like a tourist. I understand why foreigners would be upset, first the situation nowaday is Cambodian government tried to copy Thai culture and product and promote as Cambodian and after Thailand, India and other countries study deep down in the history, we learned that the builder of Angkor Wat is descendent of Ancient India and Thai people that is why they tried to prohibit to taked about real history and many cement renovation that is differernt from the original one that is why photos/videos are prohibited in many places
How low educated you are. When was the siam kingdom exist? Siamese people came from Chinese land and serve khmer people hundreds years before khmer empire collapsed in 13rd century. The first siam kingdom only existed in 13rd century. Even nowaday thai alphabet is from khmer alphabet 100 %• lots of khmer art and temple are still in thailand. Don"t you know that? Siamese people serving khmer emperor in the past. Siamese ancestors using Chinese language and then changed using khmer alphabets. Siamese custom are truely copying from khmer custom including culture and tradition. Go back to school and learn proper history. Don't try to thai to others.
