I’ve been seriously considering one of these for a bit now. I like button locks. Really looking forward to the review! Thanks for showing this one.

It broke in a bit better since I recorded this, but I think I’m going to have to take it apart and clean it. There’s some serious lock stick sometimes. Other than that though, I really like it.

Very nice! Been eyeing up the 4" gmascus tanto variant. I own 2 Hogues, the full size Ritter Hogue in 20CV with purple gmascus and the X5 button lock harpoon spearpoint in CPM154 with blue aluminum. Their factory edges are on point! Occasionally, I'll apply a couple drops of oil to each side of the button where it passes through on the inside of the scales.

Nice!! I’d like to get a Ritter Hogue at some point. I’ll have to keep the oil on the button in mind when I do maintenance on this one.

I have problems buying a folding knife over 150, I had no problem making an exception for spyderco military because it is a tried and true work horse from a stellar company, however not too long ago hogue made rubber pistol grips, so I am torn about buying an expensive folder from them

The Deka is definitely worth checking out.

@@SharpenedBlade0 saw them on BHQ, I'm seeing some ex01 models being discontinued So I wonder if hogue is slowly stepping away from that line.
I'll check that model out again

@@SharpenedBlade0 I see a deka that has good reviews on bhq and TH-cam, I see they're dabbling in magna cut now, any opinion as to what model would serve as a reliable work horse ?

Some companies discontinue knives when materials are being switched, so maybe that’s all it is.
Personally, I wouldn’t consider the Deka to be a work horse kind of knife. It’s small and thin so it’s more suited to regular EDC use.

    Will it lock closed?

No, it’ll only lock in the open position.

The auto version has a lock for both positions, but since this is the manual version it’s safe without being locked close.

@@SharpenedBlade0 provided the detent is good enough, I like to clip knives on the outside of my pants for easier access on occasion
