I can't believe I'm actually about to defend McDonalds but what do you expect ground chicken to look like? I cook all the time and like to grind my own meat and YES that is what ground chicken looks like. Did he actually say that pink ooze looks better? DUDE!!!I think that pink shit looks DISGUSTING and not like meat at all.
Whoever wrote the video is probably just a bad writer, who doesn't actually think that, but thought it was a funny joke.
The alternative is that several people in an office, looked at that, and all agreed that eating pink slime is a better option.
I think part of what makes the chicken look gross to some is the environment it's in. The factory setting turns people off, when people want to think about fresh meat they like to imagine a farm somewhere.

So minced/ground chicken meat is worse than chemically altered and dyed chicken meat? Really?
Please understand. Yes it is and I would love to explain why. So lets say that the large batch of chicken breast was probably from well over 100 birds and weighed more 150 lbs, just for the sake of this explanation. Using that as a given, imagine for a moment that just one of those birds (as in less than 1%) had Salmonella or some other nasty thing in it. You mince all that together and now all 150 pounds plus is now contaminated with Salmonella instead of just the one breast from the one bird. Also as a given is that a serving of nuggets is about 4 oz's (estimating here) so that 150 lbs batch now has 600 servings of salmonella that will make 600 people sick and even killing a few small children along the way. Yum Yum. I work as a cook and even if I am off by 20% on my estimates (of course that could go either way), you are still running the risk of exposing hundreds of people to a nasty and possible lethal disease. Now do you see why it is more ugly than pink goop/slime used to remove diseases?
John Miranda You do know that proper cooking does tend to kill most all dangerous (to us) bacteria right? You are pretty much wrong on all counts because the proper cooking alone would stop all of that and BTW chemically altered pink slime is in EVERY SINGLE WAY worse than ground chicken meat. I mean any actual cook knows that one of the main reasons for cooking is to make the meat edible and to kill off dangerous bacteria.
You are making a big assumption that some minimum wage (if in the U.S.) or some low paid (as in processed over seas) employee is cooking hot enough and long enough to decontaminate it. That is a horrible assumption to make. I can also tell that you have not ever worked in a kitchen that feeds large amounts of people. (Yes, I have by the way.) It is very easy to under cook something and not kill all the bacteria and you are also over looking the cross contamination issue. Lets say you have a batch of contaminated food. You place same food in oven, cook it properly but then recontaminate it by letting it touch a working surface or tool that was not disinfected. That actually happens all the time in restaurants at all levels of service all over the country and it happen every day of the week. The pink slime cost money to use so do you honestly think that food chains would use something that cost them extra money if they didn't need to. They are using it because they do NOT trust their underpaid employee to cook and handle the food without causing life threatening issues. It is cheaper than a lawsuit. If you don't believe me go check your history about what happened at Jack in the Box back in the early 80's ( I think that when). OH I am not trying to get emotional here just trying to save someone's life. I personally don't eat at McDonald's. Yuck. You get what you pay for.
John Miranda McD's employees cook stuff on a timer, at pre-established temperatures. I've never heard of a customer of theirs getting salmonella, let alone dying. You're a crackpot.
John Miranda Like WalterLiddy said, every single thing in most every single fast-food franchise is on a timer and the employees are pretty much just biological conveyor belts. The main company has done a lot of research and spent a lot of money making machines that time and make sure everything is the same. That is the reason you can't order your burger to be cooked in any specific way, because there is only one way to do it.

The McDonald's video was fine. McDonalds is trying to demonstrate that what they do is take real ingredients to create their food in order to counter misinformation that is spread on the internet. The chicken meat looked about as bad as a chicken meatloaf before it is cooked.

Most of these comments make me sad. I go down to read them thinking "that was funny I wonder if anyone else thought so." and all the comments are complaining about how they did not like the video? Do you just not comment to say that you like videos anymore? Have I been left behind and the internet made a new rule where you watch videos that you don't like or whose humor you don't understand so that you can leave angry comments?

I'm lucky to be honest. My parents only took me to macdonalds once or twice a year when I was younger and that was only if we were going on road trips or on the last day of school and I've never had a maccas burger. I only went to KFC once and subway only recently. So now I find most fast food really repulsive. I think it's something of an acquired taste.

Pink slime contains every part of the chicken we don't want to eat and a shit ton of chemicals to counter act the bacteria in the chicken bones and intestines. That ground up chicken didn't look worse than a homemade burger mixture before being formed into patties.

I worked at a lab where we tested the food served at prisons for fat content, apparently there's a fat percentage limit, so yeah very familiar with meats ground into pastes similar to that. It was one of those places where you drive by and think, that stinks must suck to work there. Actually you get used to the various smells, like cooking chicken feces (personally never ran that one and don't know why we did), what was hard to get used to was the lack of decent heat in the winter and AC in the summer. There were many summer days where the inside temp was above 90F.

I actually liked the minced chicken, The entire point is that pink slime is really low quality meat that people had genuine health concerns about. When they show their process, they show that they have higher quality meat than what is used in the pink slime.
