That’s a good low horsepower light weight mower. The 245 especially being an orchard will walk on with it. Thats the same as the older fella mowers I had a neighbor that pulled the fella version of it with a 240 Massey no problem.
This looks great! I think you made the right call with a 5 disc. I used a four disc for 10 years (New Holland hm234) and it sure got old. Something about mowing a swath that’s narrower than the tractor makes your brain glaze over 😂 Congrats on building the operation!
Great looking mower. Anxious to see it in action. Also, don't sell drum mowers short. They're low maintenance, tough and mow very well. They also don't require as much HP which is a money saver for folks with smaller HP tractors who still want a quality, fast cutting machine. All three (sickle, disc and drum) have their advantages and disadvantages depending on each person's situation but that is definitely a sweet looking machine. The 245 will handle that easily. Thanks for sharing.
Nice mower Ben. I just bought a new Vermeer trailed disc mower. I'm used to pulling a discbine. Thinking that I am gonna miss the conditioner. They are expensive..with high cattle prices, they will be higher. Be safe
Hat Looks Pretty good, Glad to see you made it out of the dealer with both arms and legs nowdays $$$ LOL.... I have been looking around myself. I run a drum mower, and as far as speed and just cutting hay, no matter the condition it is in.....they will run circles around a disc mower. And they are simple machines to fix when they break... It is hard to justify the extra cost for a disc mower in my situation. The con is the weight, they are heavy machines and the windrowing of the hay, you have to plan on tedding with one... I am sure that eventually I will take the plunge and find me a good disc but the drum and the sickles will have to do for now...I am excited to see that massey mow.
Massey and New Holland have always had the premier haying equipment, in my opinion only. I used a New Holland 451 balance head for many years and one day while looking around an used equipment dealer found a nice Massey 41 dyna balance sickle mower. That mower was made by Vermeer and is to this day an awesome machine. Only problem is parts availability for it. Last part I needed had to be custom made at a machine shop. If your Massey disc mower holds true to tradition, you should be using it for years to come. Looking forward to seeing it in action for the first cutting this year.
Well brother it sure looks like y’all’s hay production will be streamlined very well, I think that you made a smart purchase there, I can’t wait to see it in action
Congratulations on your new mower Ben.I am sure it will serve you for many years to come.Nice looking Massey Ferguson hat.Take care, have a blessed day and Happy Easter to you and your family.🚜👍👏❤️🙏
Hello to you and your family. Anxiously waiting for the warm weather to get here and stay around. We have had some pretty days, but the cold temperatures keep coming back.
You should be able to use the MF 245 on it. My dad always told me to allow for 10 hp for every foot of rotary discbines, I never used a three point rotary cutter, so not sure about those. Sounds like you got this one going and about ready for work, good luck with it. I want to wish you a blessed Easter Sunday.✝
Hi, very nice euqipment. I guess the lighter weight is a good improvement in your very hilly area. All "newer" Equipment have less Material on it - i see this every day on the Jobside. Hope you enjoy this puchase a lot. I´M very interested how this mover work. Best Regards, Alfred
nice! i enjoy watching your vids - we have a kubota 5660suhd and its a little low on HP for certain implements -- but, seeing what you run makes me think we can run bigger imps than what we have been using - at least it’s a full size utility tractor so size / weight are not the issue - any thoughts?
Does the 205 have quick change blades? I have a 1359 MF/Heston mower conditioner and the blades are a bit of a pain to replace compared to newer models. I believe the new system is called "razor edge". When I saw the title, "Another Massey..." I was looking for a 4707 with cab and air......but I've heard you have to buy 2 hats to get a 4707 thrown in.
Nice mower. I’ve been wanting to upgrade mowers myself. My new holland disc mower is just flat wore out but I keep limping it along each year. However with the way prices have went up I wish I’d upgraded a couple years ago now. I’m telling ya prices on this stuff have gotten plumb crazy. I was looking at the krone brand mowers. But boy they’re expensive. I might check into them masseys. We don’t have a vameer dealer anywhere close to here
My dealer has a sale on this same mower for 10k. Might have to do it. Also thanks for showing how to lift one of these off the trailer. Did you just connect to the cover frame?
@@wyant4 yeah right where it curves out. So far the mower has done well and it handles really easy. My Vermeer is an awesome mower but it’s just heavy to handle.
im curious do you know what the minimum horsepower that disc mower would take to pull? i have a drum mower and they are very heavy hanging off the side of the tractor and they cut the grass too low in my opinion
These are for cutting hay to bale. A drum mower has two cutter heads with 3 small blades. The disc mowers has a disc per foot of cut with two blades on each disc. The Vermeer mower is a yellow one with black cover. Thanks for watching
@@khtractors ok so do you have to have this type for cutting hay or can you cut hay with any old mower and still be able to bail it. I’d so love doing this type of work but there is no way I could do it being I have terrible allergies. When I see someone cutting a field I run the other direction. Lol

Definitely a big difference in weight on this vs the Vermeer. It should handle a lot easier on the other tractors.
Looks good I think I passed you the other day when you were bringing it in
You did. I didn’t realize it was you until you were about past us.
Alarm from alabama my friend congratulations on your new piece of Equipment
Thank you so much!
That’s a good looking mower. The 5045E oughta handle it well.
Yes I believe it will do great! Thanks

Yes, had that same concern. Kinda seemed counter productive after seeing one in person. Thanks for watching
You are doing well Mr Kenedy
Thank you Ray!
Nice mower. I like the Massey mowers!
Thanks 👍

Yeah I’m not saying a drum mower is bad I just don’t care for them myself. Thanks for watching

I’ve just never had a desire to have a drum mower. They probably are good but not something that has interested me. Thanks for watching
It looks like it will make haying faster for sure.
I sure hope so! Thank you

That's a nice mower. I like the hat you got. It looks like it has a long belb. I like the long ones because it keeps the sun out of your eyes

That 245 will handle it just fine I'm sure. That would be a good video to watch.
Thank you!
Those darn hats are really expensive! So beautiful there today Ben
Yes they are! Thanks for watching
When I saw the hat, I thought cab MF tractor…. Good choice with the 7ft, I’ll be watching how it goes over the summer…👍
Yeah after seeing the two together that small mower was too small. Thanks for watching
Nice mower!!!
Thanks 👍

I feel the equipment I have works well together and if you need more pto power just drop a gear and slow down. Thanks for watching
It will on the 245 just fine I got the same disc mower on a 2605 it only 38 hp and will walk on with it
That’s good to know! Thanks
How did you end up bolting the wheel weights on? Did you use just regular bolts because I've not seen them that way.
Yes, I used carriage bolts for the first 2 then a regular hex bolt for the outer. Thanks for watching

It’s bolt on blades. My next video has a 4707 in it. Thanks for watching
The 245 will run it but you may have to add some weight on the front to keep it from sliding but it will handle it
Yeah I figure it might try to pull the front some. Thanks for watching

I think I better test out for him to start with 😂! Thanks for watching
Hey, you know Ben won't let me try it first!!!!
It's kindly sad that you and dad got a new mower and you are already planning on how to use it instead of him
Ok
