Wild Turkey 101 is no longer on my shelf, the last bottle I had seemed to be missing something, as it seemed like something was "off" about it. It had been a shelf staple for years. I have other 101 proof point bottles in the same price range that have substituted well. On the plus side, I bought the 70th anniversary bottle based at least partially on your recommendation and I enjoy it a lot. Cheers!
Costco near me got them in for $40. I love the 70 anniversary. It's delicious. Over at SLB channel they are saying there is a big difference between old 101 label and the new 101 label. Guess I'll have to find an old one and try doing my own blind betwean old new and the 70th.
I’m hoping you’ll try Evan Williams Black Label, 1783, and Single Barrel. I have experienced these as super different whiskeys. I’ve heard that the EW Single Barrels vary quite a bit barrel to barrel.
Nice review. Surprising result, but on any given day. K Spirit was one of our favorites. WT101 always good. SLB was saying WT101 is not as good as it once was. We are yet to try 70th. Coming up next. Slainte
The Kentucky Spirit is a single barrel so your mileage may vary. I tend to prefer the Russell's options from Wild Turkey and I do feel there is a difference. Wild Turkey seems to be more spicy in my opinion. That said I have had two very good Kentucky Spirit bottles and when I compared them to the 70th anniversary bottle, I prefer the Kentucky Spirits.
Interesting results. It would be interesting doing the same blind in a few weeks to see if the results are consistent. Have not yet tried the 70th Anniversary yet. Lucked out and picked it up at Costco for 39.99. Cheers!
Your palate this day could and would change tomorrow most likely. I am a WT fan also same with JB I’ll buy those brands over allocated bottles every day of the week. Just a great value for the money. 🥃🥃🥃
What does WT 101 have going for it? For decades it has consistently been a quality whiskey. Has it changed? Sure. Is it better now or was it better in the 1970's when I first started drinking it? Who can say, I didn't bunker any bottles back then to use in a comparison now. But WT 101 will always be on my shelf. Cheers 🥃😎
How old is that 101 bottle? SLB just did a comparison saying new 101s are bad basically. Haven’t had a new one for a while so don’t know if that’s true. I know the 70th is my favorite bottle I’ve had in a while
Bourbon blinds are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get
Absolutely!
Interesting blind - looking forward to trying this myself to see if I have the same opinion. Cheers!

Glad you like it!
The eight year is coming soon. I think plain old 101 had a lot of younger Bourbon since the older stocks were going to higher end products.
Blinds for me can change for me. Especially when you are blinding similar products

Did a similar blind on my channel. Russels 8 yr store pick beat it barely. It's a dang good bottle.
Nice blind! I actually do not have any of them on my shelves. I know, I know!

I've got an Evan Williams single barrel vs regular video coming soon! The 1783 is great at its price!

I just bought the 101 a couple weeks ago.
Welp, time to unsubscribe! 😂
Seriously though, that’s impressive that you can flip the lineup on its head. 👍
🤣
I tried it myself. My results. jimmy WT101. Kentucky spirit. You are correct. They are very close. All are good.
