New Riff is an interesting brand. It's a place i'd like to have a flight of pours from but probably not a bottle.

The best store in the Saginaw area is Oppermann's Cork 'N' Ale.

in VA abc they charge 64.99 for the A,B,C batches, and 74.99 for the private pick BP's

Bourbon behind the counter is a Michigan thing. I live in Michigan, only a few miles from Saginaw, and a majority of the small stores are like that. It bugs me. Makes it hard to hunt bourbon. The stores I frequent have their bottles out where I can see them and handle them to check labels and such. Traverse City is the “Cherry Capital of the World” so they put cherries in everything there. Traverse City Whiskey has some good stuff. Some other MI distilleries that I like are New Holland ( Beer Barrel Bourbon and Walleye Run Malted Rye). Mammoth Distillery, Eastern Kille, Long Road Distillers, American Fifth.

it not tra verse. it is pronounced travers. in Michigan alot of bottles are behind counters and it sucks. not good merchandising

I love Middle West. Had both dark pumpernickel ryes and a ported pumpernickel rye. Granted, all picks/single barrels. Also had the Two Souls Spirits sourced from Middle West, which many have as a top rye of 2024. That's like pure root beer candy.

So you can fly international with bottles but not domestic? I am taking a trip to Mexico in two weeks. First trip since getting into whiskey. Cheers all!

All the meijer stores in michigan have basically the same line of bourbon/whiskey in them, nothing special 🤔 . That Corsets Whips and Whiskey is a great bottle 👍. Hard to find much of ANYTHING good here in mid michigan 🫣 Cheers 🥃🎅

Middle West is very solid pours they now have cask strength out and the tube bottles are bangers.

I have a few MiddleWest Spirits, a Pumpernickel Rye and a Michelin Reserve Bourbon that are good. You didn’t check the laser code on those RR 10 Year bottles. 😅

Ben, Great video. It would be really cool to see a Top 5 or 10 video for bottles that were purchased in Minnesota or bottles that were specific to Minnesota. I'm in Saint Paul and I'd be curious to know because my friends and I seem to have the best luck across the border in Wisconsin. Would be great to know if I'm missing out on anything here. My favorite bottle for 2024 was the Prideful Goat 6 year Cask Strength that I grabbed in Wisconsin, unfortunately.

We tried all of the Nulu DO’s that came to MN, Andy’s WCWC was superior 😆but they were all insanely delicious.

I won’t pour out the neck pour, but no one can convince me that a whiskey doesn’t open up with a little air😆

Nice review! Had a Shenks 2023 last year and it was really nice! I picked up a Bombergers 2024 about three weeks ago and it’s a great pour. Lower aged but very bold and robust! Cheers!

Picked up a Bomberger's last year and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't come across either this year. Sounds like the prices went up a bit. Great review Ben!

I have been able to get the Shenk’s and Bomberger’s from 2022, 2023 and 2024. Like them all, some better than others. 🥃

Nice review. I really enjoy this Shenks. For your info, I paid 124 at Total Wine. As good as this one is, the Bombergers is even better.
