I have just tried this but I wanted more flowers on my circle, I used 17 flowers which meant they overlapped. When I tried to weld them it would not weld saying some lines overlap. Do you have any suggestions on how I can have overlapping flowers on the circle. Love your tutorials, thank you for all the inspiration
just play around with the size of the circle it may need to be bigger depending on how many flowers you use. also although your flowers need to overlap they cannot overlap in more than one place
@@applelover53 I had 17 flowers around a 3" circle and the flowers overlapped each other in lots of places. I have got it to work with 10 flowers. Will continue to play around with it tomorrow, it's almost midnight here in Australia.
Yes 17 flowers on a 3inch circle is too many that cannot overlap in several places or you will get that message. you have to play about with what size shape and flowers and what flower letter too. but its fun to try it out and learn as you go. thank you.
Hi, thanks again for the great tutorial. I had the same problem as a few others in that I kept getting the error code regarding overlapping lines. Upon close inspection of the individual flowers that came up with the dingbat E there were overlapping lines in the centre parts of the petals. When I corrected the lines using the nodes I could no longer use it as a "text" feature therefore couldn't do 'text on shape'. I am unsure why you didn't have this problem as we were using the same capital E in the same dingbat font (Sarus). Maybe the software features of our computers made it draw differently to your computer?? So no luck with this one. I can however, achieve the same result just using the flower as a shape and positioning it around a circle the normal way. Cheers and thank you.
I am following your instructions step by step as you go along, when it comes to welding the flowers to the circle I keep getting this message E92001 which says there is a path open. Can you help?
That message normally means you have got too many shapes overlapping in more than one place or The flower edges are not overlapping the circle enough zoom in and check they are all completely overlapped
I'm following along with your video and doing exactly as you're doing, same measurements and everything. When I try to weld it gives me error E92001 Operation not allowed. The selected objects include open paths or self-intersecting paths. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can you help?
are you using the same flower and the same number and the same size circle, as that message usually means the shapes are overlapping too much they can only overlap each other in one place. Or it could mean that your flower petals are not overlapping your inner circle enough they cannot just be touching they have to overlap zoom in on all the leaves and make sure they are all overlapping the circle It should work ive used this technique for years. I even tried it on an very old Windows 7 computer yesterday and it was fine. just play around with it, try a different size circle and flower
keep playing about with it, it does work, make sure your flower petals are overlapping your circle edge, they cannot just be touching they have to overlap, make your circle slightly bigger before welding like i show in the video. the results also depend on what size circle you start with and how many flowers, also ive discovered if using Windows PC you have to do everything in one go without any mistakes it can be temperamental if you dont.
Thanks for this tutorial. I was following along but when I went to weld my flowers tot he circle I got error code E92001: Operation not allowed. The selected objects include open paths or intersecting paths. Can you help?
When I to weld it gives me and error I've redone it several times from the beginning and still the same error E92001 Operation not allowed. The selected objects include open paths or self-intersecting paths. I have checked and rechecked to make sure that each petal circle is within the other circle. HELP! Everyone please remember to like her videos, she does such a wonderful job!!! I did find the updated video still with no success.... I don''t know what to do?
HELP. I have followed this tutorial to the letter. I get to the point of welding the flowers to the circle and I get an error message " selected objects include open paths or self intersecting paths". I have spent hours trying to resize the inner circle so that it just overlaps the petals by a small amount be nothing I do seems to work.
It may be that your flowers are overlapping too much they need to overlap but only on one edge not intersecting if that makes sense it does work I’ve use this technique for years in other software
I honestly don’t know it worked fine for me when making the video, but I tried I tonight in my TH-cam live and it wouldn’t make an offset. However when I came off the live I tried it again with a 6” circle and 15 E’s and it worked and made an offset too. So I think it needs playing about with to try out different combinations of circle size and number of flowers
Hi don't waste any more time with it ive figured out an alternative process that works consistently so far, the updated video will be live on my youtube channel on Friday morning 3rd April hopefully it will work for everyone. Thank you
A very comprehensive tutorial. Thank you for your time and effort.
You're very welcome!
WOW! I've always done this in Illustrator - this saves me a couple steps. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Great demo - thanks Ashley - the font is still available on the website and free for personal use
This is brilliant! This is the first video I've seen for this that makes sense! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing your amazing knowledge.
My pleasure!

Ashley, really like this idea. I'll have a look at what dingbats are on my laptop. Having a rest from the camera today. 💜🤣🤣

Thank you great video but is it possible to write rather than cut the text . Lynda in Spain
You can write any text with your scanncut machine just change the cut line to a draw line
