OMGOSH...Kimberly...I can't wait to try this one...who doesn't like a new feature...me me me...is going to be great for creating fun stuff...thank you for the tutorial...thank you for being such a wonderful teacher...we all love you for being you :)
The version downloading at the moment is 2.3.0 - have they removed it again?!! I have been driving myself crazy trying to find this text to path, then checked the info on my Mac and although I downloaded it again today - nope, not the same version!
After you download it, be sure you are accessing it from your installed programs, not from a web browser. That is a totally different version. I know for sure that the Fit to Path works on a MAC. Your version may be different. I have a ScanNCut User group with lots of MAC users so you can ask questions here too. facebook.com/groups/paperedchefscanncut/
@@PaperedChef Thanks! I got it sorted eventually. :)I think it was getting confused because I had previously had a different machine that didn't have the wifi - and had deleted it. However, it was trying to sign me in with the old account...
If you happened to weld your text, you will no longer be able to fit it to a path because it is a Shape Layer, not a Text Layer. Also, try fitting to path before resizing. It just works better.
Can you please help me I started following your instructions but when I get to “fit to path” I don’t have the option for the it isn’t black so I can choose it?
Lisa, If you don't see the option, you may be using the web based version and not the installed version of Canvas Workspace. Go to support.brother.com and download the latest PC version. If it still doesn't work, I can help you troubleshoot some more.
Oh yes Jennifer, I cover that in detail in my Working with Fonts course. Here are my latest coupons. I delve so much deeper in my courses than I do online. thepaperedchef.com/brother-scanncut-courses
Thanks Denise, You can weld it after it is curved but to weld it, it needs to be touching and so you would have to change the character spacing because curving text separates the letters. Once you weld text, it becomes a shape and you can't fit it to a path.
You will notice that after I used the Fit to Path feature, the shape becomes a path and has a blue line instead of a black line. It doesn't cut out. It is just a guide. You can't remove it but you can detach your text from the path.
On the right hand side under edit on the page there is a symbol under Process Overlap that say Text If you click on that the text is put to path and then under that is Convert to Shapes if you click on that it takes the shape away. I think by doing this way and your way the same thing happens. Thank you for your videos they are so helpful.
Actually, I never took the path away. It was always there as a guide. It is light blue. The only reason I would convert to shape is when I am all done and want to create offsets. Once you convert to a shape, you can no longer edit the text or the path. Or, a good idea would be to duplicate it and then convert it to shape. Thanks for your comment.
Great! Glad it works this time. Thanks for following up. The path is just a guide. It doesn’t cut out. You can use transfer tape to move this perfectly aligned scene. Script fonts are suitable for welding. I showed how to do this is some of my vinyl tutorials and I’ll show it again soon.
i tryto get this on my computer into canvas workspace and it installed it onto my computer do yo know how i can put it into canvas workspace i have a cm900 scan n cut machine
Hi Joyce, at the end of my tutorial, I shared how to transfer your file to any machine. Once you transfer files, you retrieve them and cut them from any machine.
I was able to download the update right from the pc version under help. I typed Happy Valentine's Day and curved it. I cut it out and each letter is individual. How do you make it one? I'm lost on that part. You've been a great help! Thanks Sue
Susan, to do that, you would need to weld the letters together. Even when you select fonts which look like they are connected, the letters are not. I shared how to do this in some of my courses and vinyl tutorials on TH-cam and will definitely include this in my next course. Glad you already had the software and updated it easily.
@@PaperedChef Thanks. I'm still working on your first Udemy course and got stuck on the vinyl. Had to install Canvas on PC. I'll try it again. But I am learning lots.👍
Susan Crosier That is probably why you were stuck. You have no idea how many students wrote and told me they are not seeing what I’m seeing. By the time I finish my next course, my students are going to be totally ready.
Donna, the web based version looks very different. The web based version is is 4.2.1. but the downloaded version is 2.3.1. You need to go to support.brother.com and download and install the version that I am using. It is called Canvas Workspace for the PC and it does look totally different.
Just a note for Mac users - we do not have the same info under the help tab that Kim is talking about. With canvas open, to see which version you're using click on "Brother Canvas Workspace" at the top left and then click on "About Brother Canvas Workspace". It will show you which software version you're using. Mine shows 2.3.0 because I did NOT reinstall the new release because I was able to install it last week and it works fine. I may find the I need to replace it, but I'll wait and see.
I guess I'm going to have to check out 2.3.1 because 2.3.0 doesn't have the adjustment features. Not sure if this is a Windows only feature or if I will get it on my Mac. I'll try installing the 2.3.1 update on my other Mac and check.
I just followed all the instructions and when i went to the site it only had 2.3.0 available to download for my Mac. Am i doing something wrong that i can't see the 2.3.1 to download?
@@PaperedChef Thanks for your speedy reply Kimberley, and thanks for clearing that up for me. It all seems to be working as it should. I love your tutorials and you have really helped me come to understand my CM350. Thank you.

I just love, love, love your tutorials. They are so easy to follow and because of you, I have learned to love my Scan N Cut . Thank you Papered Chef.
Dale, I’m glad to hear this! My goal is for my viewers to become confident and make the most of their ScanNCut machines.
When I group the "text to path feature isn't available, it's faded grey. What do I do?
Hank you for your diligence and for sharing your knowledge. I always learn so much when you post.
You are very welcome Mary. I couldn’t repeat a tutorial on this topic of curving text without adding something new and different to it.
OMG... finally able to make fonds, instead of buying tekst dies... that there are not in Dutch... thank you so much, so much to still learn from you !
Oh yes, you can write any message with the installed fonts. Thanks for watching!
I have learned a lot from watching your tutorials. Thank you
I really like that update. Thank you for showing us how to use it.
This was the best update so far. Glad you like it Ingrid. I’ll be using it more in future projects and courses.
I did the update last week and have been testing it. Thanks for the video.
Linda, I was also able to get the update last week and this newer updates works even better so it’s good to download this one again.
Thanks so much ❤ you did a wonderful job explaining thanks again ❤🎉😊
Hi Kimberly, Thank you so much for this video, you explained it very well, Cheers Anna.
So glad you are here watching yet again. Glad you liked it. It is even better than the last update so I'm happy Brother fixed it.
Thank you for your help. my scan n cut is is about 5 years old 900 version.
My best machine is very old like that. A true workhorse. You are welcome Robyn!
I really like this tutorial. If I new it yesterday I could have put the wording on bottom of coffee cup much easier.
Well I hope you found many uses for this tutorial. I just saw your comment and thank you!

Is there a way to flip the design after doing a fit to path?
