18:52 - Stone circles like these usually hide an extra secret, but what you need to do changes. To uncover all the secrets, you'll need to try out all your items and all of your songs at every circle. Sort of tedious, but that's old game logic for ya! 22:29 - "Link, here is a SACRED song that'll prove you're an OFFICIAL MESSENGER for the ROYAL FAMILY. Use it well." Link immediately plays it to a bunch of frogs for 50 rupees. The frogs then spread the song all over Hyrule XD Keep an eye on your wallet. When it's full, you can't collect any more rupees. There's a certain bean seller nearby who will happily make use of your extra cash for you. Consider it an investment in your future ;)
2:49:00 - BOTW references two horses from this scene. Not only do you find a white horse associated with Zelda, BOTW also has a monstrously large black horse with a red mane associated with Ganondorf. Another interesting detail about this point in the story that many people miss - if you explore the alleyways in town, you'll find a Hyrule guard that was injured during the attack. He gives a few minor details about Ganondorf's treachery. If you try to talk to him a second time, the game tells you that "He isn't moving any more". Maybe it's a little silly, but on replays I always speak to the guard so he doesn't pass away alone.
21:00 your wallet is full and your money will disappear into a black hole. In the future, save stuff like this for when you have a larger wallet or make sure you have room for your rewards.
13:47 Props for sure…you nailed it. Another Easter egg for ya is that Epona’s song is the song that is played at every stable in BOTW AND TOTK. I recognized that immediately when I first played BOTW. 32:08 Holy Crap I’ve never seen anybody get that heart the way you did. That was pretty impressive!
33:00 the problem you're having with the chicken is that you need to be standing with the chicken IN FRONT of you but you keep running up and then through the chicken so you're standing on top of it or with it behind you and the prompt isn't showing up. What might help is running close then slowing down a little till you're standing close to it but not on top of it then pressing A.
2:05:15 you can use the boomerang you just need to aim. You kept throwing it level but if you aim up you can hit them. The center of the aim is a bit stupid but its basically links head. If you cover the target with links head you can hit it with the boomerang.
In Zora’s Fountain you went back to see if you could get the spider token now that you have the boomerang, and it wasn’t there. That’s because it was daytime and you can only find the spiders at night. You just needed to play the sun song to make it night.
A fairy in a bottle operates like Mipha’s Grace in BOTW: when you die, the fairy will fly out of the bottle and revive you. For this reason, I wouldn’t “waste” your fairy by opening your bottle to restore your health with it. You’ll get more “bang for your buck” if you just let it revive you when you die.
57:06 it says "Use it again to return THERE" not here. This spell lets you create a warp point inside of a dungeon. Then when your in the dungeon you can play the song again and return to the point you set. Its like in BOTW when you could set a teleport point in the world and teleport to it whenever you wanted. This one ONLY works in dungeons though. Honestly I feel like most people just ignore it but it might be fun or useful for you if you dont want to struggle to get back to somewhere in a dungeon (like in front of a boss room that you're struggling to beat)
2:39:18 so it has to be night time within the over world for the skulltulas to appear. It will still be there just got back at night and yes that’s what the boomerang is for! They appear in all dungeons night or day but over-world at night. There are 100 of them total. It’s in your best interest to get at least 50
I have to be honest that heart peice you got at zoras river, I always just waited until I was adult Link and went back and got it because it's easier with an item you get as an adult. Also while I know Ruto can be annoying, she can also be used as a projectile weapon in this dungeon and if aimed right, can one shot those jellyfish without you taking damage. She's a little hard to aim but when you get used to it, she makes a great weapon before the boomerang. I'm in favor of Nintendo sending the message that sometimes it's appropriate to use princesses as projectile weapons. Also when I consider things from Rutos perspective, she just lost her stone from her mom, who for whatever reason, is no longer in the picture. As she is trying to find it, some random strange hylian kid is running around inside the belly of their sacred god, when he has no business doing so. He keeps trying to get her to leave, but he insists on taking her out of there. Knowing that he has weapons and she doesn't, pulling the power move of making you carry her ensures she has control over you and you aren't a threat to her. She's being rude sure, but she's also a stressed out little kid who just happens to be a litteral spoiled princess. As such, I always felt like she gets so misunderstood. The giant octorock battle is one where I usually just let him hit me. Immediately after hitting me he turns around and he is still close enough to hit with the boomerang, it makes it easier to just hit him afterwards. You loose a total of three hearts doing this and killing him gives you three hearts so it evens out. I'm proud of you for figuring out baranade on your own. I don't think you should feel bad about looking stuff up. Yes the game gives you enough clues to figure it out, but sometimes finding the clues is hard. This is supposed to be playing on easy mode isn't it? It can be hard to remember all the clues, so why make it harder than it needs to be, y'know? Games are supposed to be fun, as long as you are having fun, who cares?
22:00 You say as you're currently being a musician for frogs. Their economy is just different. I mean, seriously, even frogs are making good enough money to pay 50 ruppees per song.
It's totally obvious that the Doctor has visited Hyrule and left behind Tardis tech. Not just buildings... Link's pockets are obviously bigger on the inside. The Doctor also visits the North Pole and he's the one who provided the bottomless toy sack for Santa. That's what I believe, so THERE!
2:11:50 noooooooo. 😂😂😂😂 the game showed you. You just have to let yourself die and the fairy will revive you from your inventory. 😂😂😂 Also for this mini boss you just needed to stand still and hit him with the boomerang when it was coming at you. Then when he turns to go the other way rang him again and poke him in the butt. You also kept stopping and turning around when he just switched directions on a timer. Seriously you said it at 2:17:30 I must be doing something wrong. But then after you said that you didn't even try something different. You need to listen to those instincts and not ignore them...
2:39:00 time of day changes locations. This is why they gave you the sun son! 😉 Skutullas mostly only appear at night so if you're hunting for them make sure you look around at night and LISTEN they make an EXTREMELY distinct noise. If you hear that noise look around for it! 😊
Divine Beast Vah Ruta Princess Ruto 31:30 I noticed with Mario Odyssey that you don't tend to use the full range of analog movement in games. If you walk instead of run you'll get the grab option instead of attack and it won't run away. For most consoles I'd recommend an analog stick grip that extends it for finer control but that's not an option with the 3DS unfortunately. 55:35 I love how everyone's reaction to this is exactly the same. So proud of you for figuring out how to get inside Lord Jabu Jabu in true Zelda fashion of asking the right questions. :) Personally I think that's the hardest puzzle in the game because it requires figuring out that it's even possible to catch things with bottles which thankfully you'd already got with fairies. That puzzle was the one that led me to researching tutorial design - and ending up finding your BotW lets play. :) The Water Temple (not Lord Jabu Jabu that's a different dungeon) fixes are the best thing about the 3DS version over the N64 version. I'll explain afterward, just some tiny little tweaks that make a huge difference. Talking to Navi while locked onto an enemy is how you find out about that enemy. Always understand your enemy before chopping at them, great way to avoid getting electrocuted. 1:38:00 Yes that's the entire point, so you can't just use it to cheese everything heh. You didn't need help, you weren't stuck, as evidenced by the fact you didn't need to look anything up to complete the dungeon. There are other help systems in the game already, that's just the fallback if they all fail. It's there for when you're actually legitimately "might as well put the game up on ebay" level stuck. In puzzle games you're supposed to have to stop and think about things for a while and not get the answer instantly, then get that eureka moment when it all suddenly clicks. These games are masterclasses in guiding you gently toward the answer without realizing it. If you're lost in a dungeon, that's intentional, it means you haven't figured out the layout yet. The reward you get for figuring out a dungeon's layout is usually the map lol. If you know where you need to go but not how to go there, that's progress. If you know how to go there but are still trying to actually execute the plan - that's also progress. Because in a way it's like you're learning how the person who designed the dungeon thinks and that takes time to figure out. Instead of "I don't know", why not ask yourself "But what parts do I know?" Chances are that you're part-way to the answer already. I.e. you'd already figured out that you needed Ruto for the switch. 1:38:37 Perfect example of the way the game helps the player without the player instantly realizing it - you ended up needing that lift to get Ruto to the switch. Btw the very first thing you had to do in the dungeon was use the slingshot - which is supposed to make you accidentally figure out how to fight the jellyfish. The devs are trying to help nudge you forward in these games, they're not exacting a cruel punishment heh 2:10:41 I'm not upset at you not liking the controls lol, I'm upset that you skipped the tutorial in Kokiri Forest that explains them and would solve the issue. Besides, you can literally fight this same way in BotW and TotK so it's not like it's old fashioned. Z-targeting is different to Z-camera-aligning. If there are no arrows and Navi is by Link, you'll camera align like Mario 64. If there is an arrow / if you see Navi by the enemy, you'll Z-target instead. That's why if you try to target too early it won't have the desired effect. It also means it's always a good idea to be facing your target when attempting to lock on as if you fail you'll still be looking the right way. Basically, aim with the left stick and choose your moment to lock. Tip - don't use fairies directly. They'll auto-revive you anyway, no point directly using them. 2:15:05 The smaller the circle, the faster you walk it. It was all about staying as close to the spikes without walking into them as possible. When this game came out analog controls were still very novel so consider this a set-piece showing off the way you could use the stick to walk a precise way. Saving is only used for making sure you keep progress when you boot up the game again. It does literally nothing in terms of what happens if you die.
Great episode Dude! The Boomerang is pretty sweet! Yes don’t forget to check the drawbridge water. Before you get too crazy in advancing the story, there is a cool side quest you should look into. It’s at the mask shop in Hyrule Castle Town. You can do that one now and there is another one in Kakariko when you get “older”. I think they are way fun. Farores wind is not a useful spell for me anyway. I think you misread the fairy. You won’t warp back to the fairy fountain but you cast it in a dungeon then if you get lost or quit the game before finishing the dungeon and have to start at the beginning, instead of retracing your steps, it will send you back to that warp point. Now you’ve got big story advancement coming your way! Hurry…get the next one up 😉!
43:00 nothing different will ever happen BUT you can get them to do different things. Try a bomb or dins fire. 😊 there is even more but ill let you experiment.
2:38 Vah Ruta is named after princess Ruto. She’s mentioned by NAME on one of the many walls that are carved out with historical records in Breath of the Wild and Tears of The Kingdom
2:27:40 you kept dropping the box to the side of the button instead of in the middle. If you watch back every time before the box was just barely on the button so it wasnt holding it down.
Remember the opening cutscene to the game and what the deku tree told you. A vile climate pervades the land and those sensitive it have been restless with nightmares....what happens at the end of this episode is the vision you had at the beginning of the game. The wheels of fate and time are in motion -- now it's time for the real quest to begin. You got this -- and remember to pay attention to what NPCs are saying -- in older games like this NPC dialogue is very important as they often give explicit directions. It would be great to live stream the next episode (if you haven't already filmed it) -- it is a seminal moment in OOT and in the entire franchise -- the impacts of what you are about to embark upon, will echo long in to the future for all the LoZ series :)
Watching this episode right now. I didn't have chance to comment on the previous episode, but you TOTALLY deserve the props on playing the Epona Song by ear. As I think about this, this game is really going to tickle your musical talents with the Ocarina. For the day night cycles, the day time begins with the rooster's crow and the night time begins with the wolf howl. So keep an ear out to figure out if the day or night has begun yet. As you know the Sun Song will toggle from day to night, and night to day. I always like to start out in the over world right at the beginning of the day, that way I can maximize the time in the day without have to face those stall enemies at night (I'm an old guy and the game still spooks me at night time...lol). Also, when Link learns the next song, remember to come back to those frogs! 😀
The torches are a thing, but you have to do it as fast as possible before the first torch you light goes out. I can't remember how many there are, maybe first explore the whole area for torches so you know where there are, before racing through lighting them all.
Yes you have to go fast! Start in the throne room with a deku stick. Light the next one downstairs on the landing. Hurry and put away your stick and get it out again and light it up, move down to the torches by the store and along the waters edge towards the waterfall and the last 2 torches are behind the waterfall. You gotta do them all super fast and all at the same time. Good luck
2:00:00 something Ive noticed you doing that is a bit odd. Im not sure if this is a 3ds thing or not. You keep releasing your lock on constantly. If it is like the n64 you dont need to release your lock on so much. Its making it way more difficult to kill these tenticles. Just keep holding the lock on and it will stay locked even when it goes up into the ceiling.
Remember look at your ma….you noticed lol. Anyway, that boss is hard. Good job in getting all three spiritual stones!!! Also I was just about to suggest you to go to the house where the curse was but you did it!!!
Love to see you exploring and figuring out areas like Zora's river and thinking to try feeding a fish to Lord Jabu Jabu. Others have already said what I was going to say. Except to remind you that you have nuts .. don't forget to use them. Ahem! DEKU nuts! There were many places in Jabus belly where they would have really helped you. I rarely used them the first couple of times I played OOT. Same with the sticks. But then I realized how much I underestimated their worth. 😊
Gold skultullas, when not in a dungeon, only come out at night, so that log where you met Princess Ruto after the boss fight, just play the song of time and the skultulla will appear. Since you said this it is not a spoiler, yes you can use your boomerang to kill skultullas, one hit, and also your boomerang can collect skultullas and other things when they are out of reach, just Z-target them and toss the boomerang.
I find myself wondering if I was this... I'm struggling to find a polite word... This lost, when I originally played the game. There certainly was no TH-cam for help. When I ask myself, watching you trying to sort things out, Was I that... lost? The honest answer is, yeah, I probably was. Try to pay attention to your surroundings and hang in there because I fear for your sanity when you eventually reach the Water Temple. That One is just bags of fun... Oh, one other little easter egg to try. When you're at those Time-stone thingydoos, not the one that gives you hints (that one is new to me, I've never seen the hint stone) but the other ones that you'll see around a fun thing to do, especially at night, is to drop a bomb near them and wait, don't forget to look up, and wait... Ta-Ta
It's interesting to watch this also because he's playing a different version than I played. I don't know the controls he's using..they seem more confusing to me. I never had those sheika hint stones either. Just my Nintendo Power magazine LOL. The graphics are definitely much nicer in this version. I also remember getting stuck in a few places in the game. At one place in the water temple, I was convinced that I broke the game😂 I played this the day it first came out and will never forget the places I struggled with. The only difference is that I didn't take breaks from playing the game. When I get games, I practically eat, drink, sleep and breathe nothing but that game until the end. Hints and things are easier to remember.
@@mixedbouquet1 Yeah, Funny about the console. I orginally played it on Gamecube. I played Ocarina + Masterquest, Majora, Twilight Princess, and Windwaker all on Gamecube. I think the controller he is using is a little more confusing than the standard x-box controller. I posted a suggestion to try to get a gamecube version or even a pc emulator version so that he can use a controller that he is familiar with. It is funny about being stuck, he seemed to handle that final, electric jellyfish deelie, pretty well. I remember that boss being a nightmare for me and he managed that fight pretty well. About not forgetting the struggles I hear you. I think one of the hardest challenges I remember is I think in Majora where you have to roll as a goron and navigate through these narrow walls and spin your way through the entire maze, that one killed me and of course like everyone else that ever played zelda games, ALL of the water temples are horror-shows. Also I get the Eat, sleep and breathe the game I still do that. You gotta have your priorities! ??? Goron Temple or take the baby to the doctor.... He'll get better, now where's that hammer I need?
@@Rabid-Pinocchio I am embarrassed to admit that I once lost a job because of video games. Playing them all night and not hearing my alarm clock too many times. I hated that job anyway, but still.. If I could only be young and irresponsible once again 😂 In Majora's Mask, I remember raging because of a certain timed thing where you had to do the goron roll through the maze to hit a button before it timed out. I was horrible at that part.(edit..wait, I think we're talking about the same part). Getting the dungeon item in the OOT fire temple was horrible for me too...I won't spoil that here, but wow that took forever. Then the moldorm fight in a link to the past... Lol, yep. Some parts I never forget even if it's been years. 🙂
@@mixedbouquet1 Dude, that goron roll thing through the maze... I honestly, just now , had a sudden attack of anxiety. I do not think that i am exaggerating when I say I fell off that maze... I'd bet over 500 times, maybe more. That was maybe the most difficult challenge for me, except for maybe the Vah Naboris beast fight, the electric one, Thunderblight Gannon. I know others found that reasonably easy but that one drove me nuts. My Second playthrough I did every possible quest to get everything that could ameliorate that boss fight. That said, I still say that rolling goron one was a nightmare.
@@Rabid-Pinocchio I think thats what makes some older games so awesome. It's not often that I get that stuck in modern games. Challenges that were actually challenging. When we finally get it, the sense of victory is amazing. Unless it's a farming sim or cozy game, I want a game to make me suffer once in a while 😄
Remember that this is an older game so the graphics will be older, just like the other game you played with Snake. Also, when a dungeon gives you something like carrying a Princess, that is the gimmick and you need to utilize it. Don’t leave it! When you play Windmaker, no spoilers but there will be a gimmick like this. I hope this helps you. It seems like you are struggling a little. These old Zelda games are linear and not much open world like TotK and BotW. I write this half way through this video.
I get so motion sick from certain games or sections of games. That's one big reason why I can't watch some of your other content. Between motion sickness or..triggering subjects, I just can't. Even Minecraft makes me 🤢 with the first person camera. That said, I don't know if I have ever seen an octorock chase last so long lol!

The devs are trying to help nudge you forward in these games, they're not exacting a cruel punishment heh
2:10:41 I'm not upset at you not liking the controls lol, I'm upset that you skipped the tutorial in Kokiri Forest that explains them and would solve the issue.
1:06 I’m so excited for this series’ future
1:23 YOU love this game and I’m glad! I am in love with this game. Such a great story and has my heart with its music.
20:36 in the sequel there’s a specific frog song
2:20:03 SoMeRsAuLt!! For the love of Aguila lmao😅😂
43:00 nothing different will ever happen BUT you can get them to do different things. Try a bomb or dins fire. 😊 there is even more but ill let you experiment.
Anyone notice that at this point in in-game time it would have been 5 months since he started his journey...
Every day is 3 minutes 50 seconds
2:38 Vah Ruta is named after princess Ruto. She’s mentioned by NAME on one of the many walls that are carved out with historical records in Breath of the Wild and Tears of The Kingdom
1:41:46 MADRINAS: “ET TU SCOTT!”
I need moooore OOT!!
Oh my god I need MORE - can't wait for the next episode! You should play Majora's Mask after this one because it continues the story!
@@jgumbs3 Thanks! I definitely plan on heading the Majora's mask next!
46:22 does he know you can somersault while you are holding the lit deli stick?

Good luck

You have to do it alll quickly
49:07 nope it is
2:00:00 something Ive noticed you doing that is a bit odd.
1:43:10 was decent
I’m catching up I swear. I’m on episode 3

If I could only be young and irresponsible once again 😂
In Majora's Mask, I remember raging because of a certain timed thing where you had to do the goron roll through the maze to hit a button before it timed out.
Unless it's a farming sim or cozy game, I want a game to make me suffer once in a while 😄
Bro Zelda throws like a quarterback
It took a minute there
