Max von Sydow is clearly an immortal being from another dimension. 89 and still playing around in movies. I also think its pretty cool that he used to always play characters that were much older than himself. Now he's playing a character that was significantly younger than he is now, at the time of this disaster.

I was nine by then, every moments was reported on the news, sadly it's not a happy ending, I remembered when the reporter said they perhaps all died, I felt sad

So, looks like this is about how they told it went, rather than how it really went. But well it's a movie not a documentary so it's kinda expected
But it is based on a non-fiction book, "A Time to Die", which was written by Independent Television News journalist Robert Moore.

Why do they feel the need to make a "look, it reminds you Dunkirk" trailer instead of "look it is simply a good film, and an original one for once, which is not a CGI showreel and doesn't include meta-jokes"? Vinterberg is directing, Desplats is composing, Firth is playing, trust yourselves guys!

I was about to write that anyone who thinks this movie will have a happy end will be disappointed. At any rate the point of the flick seems to be to make Russia look bad.

Not a bad movie but not a really good movie either. The reality was a terrible tragedy but the movie felt like just a movie told from a very limited perspective. It did not address issues paramount to the choices made. It was a lose or lose situation on the surface while below the facts are just speculation. It just raises more what-if questions and gives no answers.

Even Boris Kuzniecov attorney witch represented families of dead soldiers of Kursk, had achive conclusions that explosion was caused by torpedo from Russian battlecruiser 'Pyotr Velikiy' which was involved with big naval maneuvers among with Kursk on North Sea, near Murmansk. Responsible for the firing order on 'Pyotr Velikiy' was Viacheslav Popov, admiral of Northern Fleet, and commander - viceadmiral Mikhail Mocak, both on deck when two torpedos was shot in Kurs direction.

i saw a excellent documentary, awarded by french TV, about all the misteries around Kurks, and they are talking also about US submarines watching a little too closer the Kursk test of new torpedoes.... When the invitable accident came, between US and Russsian Sub (a Los angeles class US sub was in reparation in Norway 2 days after the Koursk sunk), the US gouvernement accept to erase debt of Russia in exchange of silence. If you look at when the russian debt was erase....

They searched for the sunken boat for 5 months; more than 60 ships and vessels, up to 30 aircraft, were involved in the search.
USS Thresher (SSN-593) - US Navy nuclear submarine, the head ship of the Thresher type, died on April 10, 1963 in the Atlantic Ocean together with the entire crew. April 11, at 10:30 at the press conference of the Navy, the death of the SSN-593 Thresher was officially announced. In addition to 16 officers and 96 crew members, there were 17 civilian technical engineers on board who were sent to monitor the performance of its mechanisms during dives.

elPajolero the basic idea is that the Russian fleet let an entire crew drown in pressurized water rather than to accept the help of a foreign country. That has not been disputed by any country during and after this event, ever. So yeah, I think the movie has a fair assessment.
