They couldn't have really done this with how the thing is formed. Yes, it sucks that it's only a one-shot, but keep in mind that they're essentially given a model from a game to work with and not much else. Making it like this and having the proportions the same would make it comically huge.
There are some modders out there that just completely remove the padded seal on the plunger tube and put an entire padded sheet on the rear surface of the rotating cylinder instead and just cut out holes as wide as the holes necessary. The theory is that the multiple padded areas wear slower than just the one on the plunger tube that would make contact many more times than the cylinder ports would
Did you remove the AR? If not the low FPS shots might be from the AR not disengaging completely because the round is to far forward. I am going to get one of these and make a half funnel, rear loading ramp. (And perhaps widen the seal on the plunger tube.)
Got a point, didn't even think about that. The seal is definitely still a concern with those wider holes, but that definitely has something to do with it. I didn't even think about there being an AR because most DZ blasters don't have them.

a track and a lever. track makes sure the ammo is lined up for the speedloads. lever makes sure it doesn't load too far in so you have (possibly) more consistent power.
If I ever get an Apex, expect a tripleshot style barrel mod to it. You can brace the section between the teeth of the rotation mech and the cylinder, basically allowing you to remove the need for the front arm without any potential hiccups. Now to also make a cylinder that accepts spring thunder shells...
I think I know what's wrong. That white spur thing you cut off helped brace the cylinder axle and keep it centered. Without it, it wobbles a bit and that's why the seal randomly won't work. Maybe add a rubber gasket at the base of opening of the plunger tube?
Could you try a large color contrasting piece of sheet metal or something similar [preferably white] and mow a strip of your yard going to the target??????????
Just a thought but hammershot drop cylinder mods use magnets and get rid of the front post. I know how much you hate the hammershot but if you were able to combine a 3D printed cylinder for short darts with a magnetic hot swap system you could get a fairly high capacity quick reloading blaster.

Done right while using this blaster you could potentially get something approaching kronomag performance, something a hammershot will never be able to match.

When someone enevitably makes a 12.7mm conversion for this, rear loading and,like, 12 barrels,big ole spring and long barrels. the original size of the air hole at the base of the revolving cylinder looks 'sorta close to' 12.7mm dart size, so you wouldn't even worry about sealing. Now I just got to figure out how to smuggle one (or 5) into this country.
Big plunger tube? $10? It sounds like a fun, cheap blaster to try and Chris-Cartaya the crap out of it and get 200+ fps. That orange thing in the front might get in the way, but turning it into a single shot monster is still viable.
I think K26 might actually be too *small* - unless you dremel the plunger rod down a bit thinner, that is. I think K25 might be a better fit. I could be wrong, though. I'd say I'm... 60% towards K25, 40% towards K26... And 15% towards some part of the mechanism being unable handle EITHER upgrade for long without reinforcement, lol!
When you remove the FPS irregularities because I left the AR in and didn't think about that, this is definitely an improvement by the fact that it's much faster to reload.

Just a thought, could you enlarge the holes in the back of the barrel then add some rubber washers to create a better seal?

If you can, look up step or christmas tree drill bits. It would have 100% made that job about 10 seconds a barrel.
I would need a drill for such things, which while on the list hasn't been a big concern.

No, it was definitely because of the AR. That spur doesn't cause any flex, that point is screwed into the shell.
