    I used to love mine, kept it standard, fastest car I owned and was most fun for overtaking and listening to that cam change(felt MGF I had more fun overall) and very practical for a 3dr, sadly I think mine was a pup, too many things went wrong and was too expensive, so got rid.

    Just dropping in to say I did a 14.8 at Pod in my Corolla T-Sport and beat a Civic Type R FN2 which has a rated 0 - 60 of 6.4 seconds and it had a good driver.
    Only mods to my car were a cone filter, and the fact I'd removed about 80KG from the car (back seat, spare wheel, nearly empty fuel tank)
    My best 0 - 60 according to the data-logger is 6.622s and my maximum speed reached is 142MPH (private road of course...)

    • @havenblood
      @havenblood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Came up against one of these in my FN2, I was only ever a pinch ahead until the corners and that’s where the difference showed, but what a fantastic car this is considering the price point and that it took a corner for me to beat it. Definitely not appreciated enough, always a funny feeling when I see one and get nervous!

      You'd just buy an ep3 instead and not have to worry about oil starvation at high rpm and have a much quicker car 😂

    • @BlueXonar
      @BlueXonar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@JohnJohn-ij5rj By much quicker I assume you mean not quicker at all and with much less standard equipment, inferior interior fit and finish, higher purchase price and insurance price? Yep, much better buy. 😂
      In seriousness though, the EP3 had better drivability at lower RPM's because of the slightly larger displacement, and it has better handling out of the box and nicer steering feel, but as an all round car I would take a T-Sport fitted with a cheap set of Teins over an EP3 any day of the week.
      Oil starvation is also a non issue as long as you use the correct grade of oil, service it properly, and fit a baffled sump pan if you are going to be racing with sticky tyres. On the street with street tyres you won't run into any problems.

      I have to admit, there are a lot of videos on TH-cam claiming that there T-Sport accelerates to 60 in under 7 seconds but I'm afraid I've yet to see a video where that is true. You only need look at the time counter on the video. Remember a true 60mph is 66 on the clock. Please don't get me wrong, I am in no way knocking these cars, I absolutely love them, but the performance is delivered in a very different way to most hot hatches, they accelerate hard at speed you want them to.

    • @Djmarcod
      @Djmarcod 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      MarcusTDM If you'd had one, you'd know 8.4 is nowhere near right. I'm not going to claim any specific figure as I've no idea. However, having owned one myself I can tell you that I beat a few Clio 172s, hung on to EP3 type r's and even managed to gain on a Corsa Nurburgring up to around 90mph when the extra bhp allowed it to stretch it's legs.

      The steering will be slower lock to lock in the Corolla and make sure you try before you buy it. The brakes where rubbish on my 2004 one, it would over heat the brakes on long motorway runs and swerve left to right under medium braking. Also look for the warping top of the dash board. The best thing was the engine the rest Toyota didn't bother with upgrading.
