  • Again, not a big fan of Nu Metal as a genre, but there are a few songs that I actually liked. This is one of them, from a band I normally don't like xD.
    Having said that, I gotta say, John Otto is a BEAST of a drummer!

      I've realized recently how good of a drummer he is... The guy knows his stuff, and this song is actually good proof of it. That breakdown followed by that last verse are actually reeeeeally tough to play!

    How does his drumset sound so accurate to the song?? 😦😦

      I play over the original track, and I use the original track in the mix... I don't eliminate the drum parts from the original song, so I overlap my playing and that's why it sounds so similar (apart from EQing and mixing). I find it is the best way to actually know if what I'm playing goes perfect with what the original drummer played in the recording. You can actually hear a little rush in the bass drum pattern I play at the beginning, so that's a little imperfection I had in this take.
