It is surreal seeing everyone talk about how hard this game when in my experience the game was fairly easy with a few spikes of difficulty. Elden Ring was much more challenging in my opinion. Then again, I did play almost the entire Armored Core series leading up to this game's release so I got a lot of practice. AC games aren't really hard (aside from Last Raven, that game will crush you), but I'd become extremely familiar with what stats mean, how to approach encounters, etc., so AC6 felt like slipping into something I was already familiar with. Also, you GREATLY misunderstand light weight builds. My main build started out as a mid weight biped, but for most of the game I shifted to a light weight biped because I realized that being able to straight up avoid attacks was vastly superior to tanking hits and hoping I can out DPS the boss. CEL 240 for instance? I can't beat it without a light weight build. You'd be surprised how much you can fit on a lightweight if you choose the right legs. The Elcano Firmeza legs are what I use and they can fit a chain gun or grenade cannon if I want to, though I use lighter weapons for flavor. Building for stagger really helped my build put in work as it could skate circles around targets until it gets a stun to capitalize with the moonlight. Lightweights are absolutely not weak.
@@jusarson7237 yeah, light weights can still fit a lot if you pick the right frame and internal parts. You don't even need to use a full loadout of OP weapons. I use one OP weapon, the zimmerman, and I used it before I even knew it was OP. I chose it for its stagger value, as it sets up enemies for easy melee strikes and Trueno bolts.
It's ultimately a matter of their playstyle, what they build, and how they approach things with the build in question. I was doing pretty smooth up until Balteus, the Spider, and Ibis, but they all didn't take that long to beat, compared to the salt I've seen online. People were saying these fights were impossible with a setup similar to what I was using, even though I was doing fine with them. It can be a skill and/or build issue. Elden Ring kicked my shit in more than the Souls trilogy, Bloodborne, or Sekiro, purely because I was rigid in my mindset and approach, but eventually adapted. While others used what was given to them without any hangups and cruised more smoothly than I did. Mindset, and approach make a goddamn world of difference. A lot of souls people I've seen were tryna treat AC6 like a Souls game even though it's entirely different, so it's gonna be absolutely terrible
Light and medium builds can close distance very quickly for easy staggers with melee/shotguns or miniguns. Once you master that its wild how easy the game gets.
The game really is as easy or hard as you make it, the name of the game is adaptability and if you do that well you’ll have a pretty easy time (or you can just dial zim)
Looking at the footage your biggest problem seems to be not using assault boost. It's the best way to cover distance, it even makes you a little safer from attacks. Also hard lock should turn you around even if the enemy goes off-screen, as long as you leave the right stick completely alone.
Bought game when it came out . And just finished it last weekend. Took me around 60 hours. The satisfaction I got finally finishing game was amazing. I thought I was done since it took a lot of my time. Especially from work. But going for the Bad Ending now and want the True ending. I think they put some drugs in game. It's getting addicting.
I wouldn't call savior of rubicon the good ending? Sure it is a hopeful ending for the rubiconians but who is to say the war that raven started isn't gonna be the end of them or if they truly know how to use the coral and not have it get out of hand Plus killing cinder, chatty and walter made me feel horrible But yes they def laced this game with something cuz I couldn't put it down
Bad: Fires of Raven for Obvious reasons. Good Savior of Rubicon: Yes your a traitor, but you live to fight another day, and more people survive as be well. True ending is neutral, the actual "Death" count is unknown, though likely significantly higher then good ending. The possibilities it opens up are potentially endless, and it sets up a sequel/expansion game. Use the Hard lock. It make tracking 1 enemy a lot easy. Learn to dodge, and I don't mean dodging through attacks, I mean either getting out of the way completely, or in the case of missiles have them fly right by you, and off to the middle of nowhere. Example. A simple quick boost or 2 can dodge all the Missiles in from a single Baltius Barrage. Let's say the missiles are coming at you from the front, quick boost left or right once they start to get close, then quick boost forward or back(Preferably forward to also close distance) as they turn so they fly behind you. If they coming from both sides learn how long they take to reach you and quick boost when they get near. That'll dodge most of them. Learning to dodge most attacks is easy, and light weight build can usually carry enough firepower to quickly kill an enemy boss, while dodging everything, and having energy to spare. Just learn to build, and look into the stats slowly, and take your time.
@@bvc5320 hard lock is garbage, id rather learn slightly different movement than take a flat accuracy nerf. Lightweight builds are way better than heavy builds.
8:00 are you not aware that the game has hard lock? it moves the camera for you, making it impossible to lose the enemy. has the downside of slightly reducing accuracy, but if you're struggling its worth using.
@@ItsHawx hated the bosses at first for sure. But here I am on New Game plus...lol Just made A T'au Crisis battlesuit from Warhammer...now I just gotta make it work.
I beat the entire game, aside from Balteus, with a lightweight AC in my first run. Believe me, getting close was absolutely not an issue and dealing damage was *certainly* not even a slight concern as I would often kill bosses before they could pop a repair kit. The trick with lightweight builds is manipulating the game's stagger system, combining hard hitting weapons with weapons that deal high impact. My build, specifically, looks very similar to V.IV Rusty's Steel Haze, a funny unintentional side effect, but one that made me realize just how good stagger is and how crucial it is for lightweight builds to manipulate. I run the burst rifle, heavy handgun, a plasma missile launcher, and the laser blade (swapped to moonlight for the last 3 missions) for my first playthrough and I only struggled with 2 bosses - Cinder Carla and C Spider. C Spider I eventually beat through sheer force of will, only to watch it get nerfed in a balance patch like 3 days later so IDK how I feel about that. I beat Carla by changing up my playstyle but I found my build was perfectly fine. Now that's not to say heavyweight builds don't have their place, they certainly do, but Armored Core is and always has been about finding and tuning your AC to suit your needs as a player. Just punching straight into heavyweight and calling everything else worthless is kinda disingenous, especially when you get that sweet spot of finally getting your hands on a finely tuned and purpose built AC that allows you to just tear through the story like it's nothing. Don't despair, don't get frustrated. Look at your build, and ask yourself "what does this lack". Figure out what works best for *you*, not what the meta demands. And maybe that is a heavyweight brick of guns and armor, but for me personally, the speed and agility of my light AC is exactly what I needed to weave into that dance with Cel 240, dodge Carla's missiles, slip under C Spider, and kick Snail to death (it was personal). Sorry for the word vomit, it's just that you clearly do enjoy the game but I feel you're missing something and I would hate for you to leave this game feeling like you hadn't figured it out. Oh also, in case you don't know this, the story isn't compete until you do 3 playthroughs. I'm currently about halfway through my second playthrough but I've stalled a bit because of work. Hope this explanation was helpful, and I wish you luck fellow Raven. Edit: For some background, I'm a Gen 4 veteran, where Armored Core was at its fastest. This probably helped me fit into the playstyle of lightweight ACs, but that doesn't mean those who haven't played the Gen 4 games can't make it work. Speed is comfortable for me, but I have been experimenting with heavy builds in my second playthrough and I feel it further reinforces my statement that the AC needs to fit you, the pilot, since I am running heavyweight builds that should just tear everything to shreads but I just can't make it work, they just aren't fast enough. I seriously recommend you explore your personal playstyle more to find that perfect fit, believe me, it will feel so much better when you do. If reflexes are a problem, Medium builds are ironically the way to go. You'll have enough speed to dodge the telegraphed attacks, but are tanky enough to eat the faster moving attacks you can't reliably dodge. But it's up to you to find that sweet spot. Balteus also forced me to play heavier than I usually would for my first playthrough, but I got through him with a lightweight build in my second run no problem, so in that case I think I just needed to "get gud" and get more comfortable with how my AC handled. Again, I'm happy to see someone who is struggling with the game but isn't immediately writing it off. This is this most popular Armored Core has ever been, and I want as many people to enjoy the series that I grew up with as possible. Maybe these tips aren't what you need, but there are plenty of resources around to help with whatever you need to know. I hope you stick with Armored Core, and maybe even try and get some of the older games running some day, I think you'd enjoy them too.
Man...You know when I started TH-cam I had hoped I would comments like this someday. I didn't expect that day to be so soon. Like legit this is pretty noteworthy to me. Don't apologize for "word vomits"! The fact that you are so passionate about this game is great! Sadly I have not found the time to go back NG+ and NG++ due to work and new projects. I do know about the secret ending but again I have yet to find the time. I refuse to call games bad just because I personally struggle. Just means the game may not be it for me but I try to seek the fault with my gameplay first rather than the game itself. Only if I truly feel like it is not me who is the problem but rather the game itself (see my other videos mentioning the horrible PC version of Jedi Survivor whenever possible) will I write off a game. I actually found a build I enjoyed a lot, I used it at times in the video but some fights were just such a huge wall for me that I gave in and switched to a meta build.
@@ItsHawx That's good to hear. It isn't often I find someone who has the integrity to say "yep, I'm just not good at the game, and that's okay", it's quite refreshing to see. I hope you have a great rest of your day.
Side note: this was my experience with fighting games for a while, but I expected it since they control so differently from every other kind of game I’d played until then. AC is just very different from anything else out there, and it calls for an adjustment period.
I'm 42. I'm working on the last two achievements, S rank everything, which will unlock both of the remaining trophies. I'm too old also, but this game makes me feel like a kid again, complete with the griping about how hard it is.
THE TRUTH ABOUT LIGHTWEIGHT BUILD heavyweight builds are overall meta/better, but lightweight builds are more fun. They're harder to play. It's easier to S rank a lot of missions with lightweight builds. Move faster, finish mission faster, and avoid more damage. Many missions can be s-ranked EASY with dual handguns and a pulse blade In PvP, overall lightweight builds are worse than heavy builds - even when played optimally. They're also harder to play optimal to begin with. The stagger system in this game is not forgiving to the playstyle. With high skill and practice, you can get through missions without getting hit, and its an incredible feeling. The game is more fun at high velocity. Medium weight builds are fun as they let you be fast and dodge, but still have surprisngly good armor, and also you can equip almost any heavy weapons you please. Dual songbirds + zimmermans is totally viable on medium weight. Lightweight builds are very limited in weapon choices.
@@ItsHawx you can run stuff like double shotguns but shoulder choices are always on the lighter side. When you get a more in depth understanding of the mechanics and flow, LW will probably be the choice for trying to beat missions quick
Lightweight builds are definitely harder, but that aids in making them feel more satisfying to pull off. Succeeding with a lightweight build is about darting around dealing damage while avoiding everything being shot at you. The speed and skill required to make it work make them feel so much more satisfying, like i beating missions with a lightweight build just feels a lot more badass
It was like a dance for me. I had to see the patterns of the lasers, weave between them. Lose, to observe. Only through practice did I get better, I got good.
Current Build, NG++ completed. Zimmerman Shotgun x2 Stun Needle Launcher x2 Head - HD-033M Verrill Body - IA-C01C Ephemeral Arm - Nachtreiher/46E Legs - VP-422 Booster - Alula/21E FCS - FCS-G2/P05 Generator - VP-20C Expansion - Terminal Armour Strategy? turn on Hard lock, find enemy, Assault boost or dash into enemy face and alternate weapons until stunned. When stunned, unleash full payload. Keep getting into enemy's face as much as possible. do not let up. ever. Be Aggressive. Go Ham. To pause is to die. To hesitate is death. You have two braincells: one is shoot, the other is follow.
Just use the pile bunker, dude. Pair it with the laser lance and you're golden. And kicks, they're really useful. They're perfect for a heavy build. If something is too hard going long-range, try short-range/melee and viceversa. Shotguns paired with melee are godly. Also, keep a spare quad-legs and missiles build in your AC DATA. They make defend/escort missions extremely easy. Except for the final boss of the true ending... I don't know what build is best for that. You'll see... heh
Some of the ligher weight weapons like the duckets actually have extremely high impact/stun capabilities but require more user input to make full effectiveness. So your statement of lightweight's being more for pro players has some merit, it still somewhat misses the truest intent. For me, as I've been practicing I've been using lighter builds. In particular on the Reverse joint legs, and practicing using lighter and lighter assemblies and weapon packages to hone my piloting. Still get my ass kicked 60% of the time on Cel 240. But that's what the practice is for.
The reverse joint legs were also my go to for most attempts at lightweight builds but I could never really let go of my heavy damage weapons Guess I will have to learn that
FYI the game gets much better if you use locked cam. Maybe not for multiple enemies but those are usually pretty easy anyway. The trick is not to touch the right stick at all once you’ve locked
Just for the fun of it I suggest you try out double HG-004 DUCKETT and Zimmermanns, this combo is very strong very synergetic and very fun! It might change your whole idea of how Ac6 plays... Pistols are amazing! If you haven't boosted around with 400+speed you haven't armored cored yet!
6:28 I feel like this is a game where medium mech builds are for people that want something in the middle between hard mode lights, and easy mode heavies. They have their place. As for my main builds: Light: Essentially an upgraded version of the tutorial mech because I wanted something to keep the spirit of what the game is "supposed to be". Kept the sword. 2 starter shoulder rockets instead of 1. Then had a Ludlow for a gun, instead of the turner because the turner is the most boring weapon in the game to me. Then put all of this on the Nach so I can go super fast (and then later on because rusty). Quad: Using thrusters and stuff to move fast, and have energy so I don't have to focus on my movement nearly as much. Then turn it into a missile boat with the missile arm guns, the 10 missile shoulder gun, and then just experimenting with the others ones for the other side. Originally I just did it because the MechWarrior series got me addicted to missiles that home in on people, but in Armored Core, it let me have the time to watch what the opponent is doing. Also I have a tendency to want to be at a distance when I don't know what is happening. Some fights also have so many special effects that I can't tell what is going on when I use a close range build. Also mobile enemies are really friggin annoying, and it's nice to just shoot off the missiles one at a time to catch their dodges. So this was my second most used in my first playthrough, but it might just be my go-to because I find it more fun than brainless tank, and uses a skill set I like to use more than the nach build. Tank: Double gatling, everyone has done it. I only used it a few times. Notably for things with too much dang HP. This was generally a last resort build when I got the jist of what you're supposed to do in a fight, but didn't want to repeat it for hours until my reaction time got good enough to do what was needed. Bosses a fun puzzles, but I don't really care for reaction time tests. I was absolutely exhausted in my first playthrough of AC 6, so I just wanted to see the story. Now that I'm on NG+ I have more energy since I got more sleep, so I might not use the Tank. Like Ibis, and the final boss of fire of raven ending were the only 2 bosses that I could just press forward and use gatlings on to instantly win like with other things because they just won't let you get close (Missile boat was the counter to both of them for me), but those are the only 2 bosses I fought that don't just get absolutely wrecked by double gatlings. I would have to try thinking of some other builds, these were basically the first ones that came to mind. Right now I'd probably try to use something that would let me use the pile bunker as much as possible, so I'd grab some weapons with stagger, and try to get something kind of light but still able to hold the pile bunker. I also want to look more into what is the fastest build you can possible make. Also energy weapons, because outside the giant blue laser guns, none of the energy weapons really caught my attention which came as a shock to me because normally I love that stuff. It is kind of hard to suggest builds though since I like building around whatever specific mission is there if I'm not using the above 3 main builds. 7:30 I call BS on being old making you lose reaction time. People generally don't take care of themselves as much when they are older because they don't have someone supporting healthy habits anymore. Exercise, healthy diet, proper sleep, meditation are just a few things that if you lack in one of these, it will effect you and distract you from performing at your best since you'll just feel so trashy. Also when you're older, it can be harder to care about things, especially if you're exhausted from work sapping all your energy. I get that feel from Destiny though. Except, that happened to me with Chess, story game, and VR games since I haven't played Destiny. Chess I was usually far better than anyone else, so I was mainly doing trolly things which having conversations with passerbys. VR games in general usually aren't hard, and let you go at your own pace. Also there's a particular social game that I like, that has a lot of games within it. And I kind of like just being able to talk with someone whenever. If I'm playing a single player game that requires all of my concentration, I'm not gonna be able to talk with my friends much if at all for the duration of it. Especially if it's not related to the video game. Lately I've been super addicted to MechWarrior 5. Which has it's difficulties in other places. AC6 is basically reacting to the opponent and punishing accordingly. Often feels like a fighting game at times, just no where near as intense as a fighting game. MechWarrior is more like playing chess, but if it was a shooter. You just have to keep track of your allies and enemies on the field, and try to make decisions to reduce potential damage to you as much as possible. AC6 you're so fast, and you can dodge things in the open, so terrain doesn't matter too much, but in MechWarrior 5 you need to always adapt to what the map looks like all the time, and then factor that in with the strength of the enemy, where you and the enemy are injured. So for the harder missions there's a lot to think about.
Holy shit! Thanks for the insights! If I do get the time to go back to AC6 I will def try them out! I actually have been interested in MW5 tho I wasn't sure if it would be up my alley
@@ItsHawx Just finished all the endings for AC6 the other day. I think my go-to build in the future will be: Right arm: Siege missile because it feels like the best missile launcher (unfortunately it's single target only). It reliably staggers a lot of ACs too. Left arm: Some melee, most likely pile bunker. Back units: Missiles, turrets, orbits. More missiles is always nice since it feels like they can do everything decently well. Turrets makes me feel like I'm playing chess. Orbits is kinda like having a little raven pet. Head: Appetizer. Might be my favorite visual head. 3rd best scan range of what I have, but with less than half the en load. Core: VE-40A because my paint scheme is purple/white, and it makes it look like big goofy eyes. I didn't even notice the massive drop in speed due to it being one of the heaviest cores due to having the most AP. I just noticed that going through the missions was significantly easier. Arms: Used to be nach for fire arm specialization. However now using VP46D that sacrifices while little defense arms give, for 2nd/3rd best in firearm + melee specialization (also it's one of my favorites visually) Legs: Spring Chicken. Goofy stompy legs, but also because it's the only one that can really support the core I use out of the reverse joints. Love their melee attack, and being in the air. Tanks don't feel the greatest to me. Quads kinda put me into head empty mode. Bipeds are good, but since it's more grounded, I like to skate much more often with them, which leads to head empty mode. Head empty mode leads to me getting sleepy playing AC 6. Booster: BST G2 P04. Gives the best balance of what I want. Good assault boost, quick boost, without sacrificing too much. Most boosters have a severe deficiency in something that makes me not want to take them. Is this the best build? Heck no, but after playing around with everything, these are the things I found most fun. MechWarrior 5 is definitely an experience that is nothing like Armored Core outside of shooting things and an emphasis on customizing a giant metal robot. I'm probably too busy to do it properly but I've been extremely tempted to go make a video to ease people into playing the game for some of these reasons: 1. The game takes getting used to - Tank controls are not the most common thing (I recommend 3rd person view for new players to get used to it until they are comfortable enough for 1st person). Idea that there are multiple healthbars on enemies for each part of their mech, compared to the single health bar of most games. You start off pretty poor, and losing a mech (especially since you are learning the game) can be pretty devastating. Different game mode types are easier/more difficult than others, especially depending on your mech and loadout. Building up massive rep with one/two factions is key to getting good money (independents recommended since they are all over the map so you'll get paid well consistently, you just won't get discounts on stuff). 2. Recommended to grab some friends for teamwork - Not the one man army like AC6, but working in a team of up to 4. AI is workable, but generally humans will play better once they learn the controls. Also the accuracy and such for AI is based off how new/old a pilot is, so early game they have pretty bad accuracy (but become aimbots if you've had them for an absurdly long amount of time). 3. Mods - There's a lot of quality of life stuff, but I feel only "co-op unlocked" is the only one you should get if you're playing with friends so they don't have to ask you if you can buy stuff. Don't have to grab that if you have Yet Another Mech Lab (YAML) since it's built into that mod, buuuut YAML basically changes the gameplay balance a lot because you can have so much more customization to your mechs, and quirks are added to keep the individuality of each mech. (also by default the vehicles have 3 times more HP. So scripted missions are much harder until you turn it back down to 1). I suggest YAML for repeat playthroughs, not first time playing. Lot of old fans of the series forget what it's like to be bombarded with decisions and having to learn the game, so you'll hear it recommended often from the vets that have been around for decades.
this is my first legit ac game and fromsoft game. I'm a dad of 3 and last game I played was Lost Ark about 8 months ago. Nearly zero experience with mech games and my reflexes aren't great. I found this game fairly easy overall. I think the toughest bosses for me are the helicopter which was a wake up call and Ibis. I haven't been beaten as many times before by any boss so I was humbled quickly by Mr Helicopter.
Anyone having trouble just switch to a build using double Zimmerman and double stun needle cannons if you have them unlocked. It’s the most broken combo in the game and should get you through any bosses you have trouble with. This game has a high skill ceiling as you play you will get better. I guarantee by the time you get all the parts and the third ending you should noticeably better.
At least he has the mental maturity to blame himself and not the game, this man has x300 times the honesty of "gaming journalists" who will give the game a 2/10 and call it a day just because they do not possess opposable thumbs...
It is always humorous when some people give the game a bad score simply because they weren't able to finish it but to their credit those instances have gotten fewer and fewer. The only time I would blame the game is the Juggernaut fight but that is only because I hate enemies whose hitbox is their entire body. And that goes for all games not just AC6
Did you play with a controller? I started with a controller.. got to the first boss..died like 10 times..switched to mouse and keyboard and the camera never really bothered me again. I mean, it still wasnt easy to keep enemies in front of me..but at least I could keep up!
Double Zimmermans and double stun needle/songbirds is current absolutely busted. I personally run a fairly lightweight build with two zimm one songbird and a backup pile bunker. I can evade really well and then get in their face and stun them extremely quickly, switch to the pile bunker and a charged shot will one-shot basically any AC and absolutely chunks bosses. Lightweight builds are super good as avoiding damage entirely is way better than just tanking it and slowly being chipped away
Bro I feel your pain I played ac 1-4 and loved them. Then I boot up ac 6 and got wiped on the first stage 5 times. I was thinking this isn't ac this is dark souls. Still love the game tho.
The biggest thing about lightweight builds is that you can choose the distance you want to engage so you may end up avoiding all the damage of a heavy or even a melee oriented medium build. It makes for excepcionally strong "double trigger" builds. Also I don't think it is about you being slow, I beated armored core 3 and silent line not long ago and I still struggle with this game, but I really think most of it comes from that fast paced action and particle effects combo. In armored core 3 I could track the enemy in a split second because I had a minimap telling me where my enemy is, and the action was just a little bit slower if not any less intense. Also having to pay attention to repair kits is a pain in the ass, I hope fromsoft comes up with a better way to manage hp.
Funny thing is that most of the ppl had a hard fight with balteus before the nerf but i beat him in my 5th attempt or so with a tanky build and 4 snipers (before the nerf)
Lightweight builds in my experience are less about reflex-dodging and more about controlling the terms of an engagement. Try a light, agile frame with a powerful generator, flight-friendly thrusters, and energy weapons, and stay above your targets as much as you can, raining fire. The basic early-game plasma rifles are great for this-- they're slow and easy to dodge (so, maybe find something else for run-end bosses, like lasers), but do AoE and pack a solid punch. Even when running short on power and needing to descend, just take the opportunity to give your target a quick purple pummeling before you retreat back into the sky. I won't say it's ideal for everything, and it's not at all meta/OP, but it is completely viable whenever you're not going to be trapped in a little box and it's one hell of a lot of fun.
I think playing lightweight is much easier as you avoid and learn to avoid attacks easier and better, you also can relocate faster, much better for melee or flying around a target and them missing their shots. You can make very versatile light builds around 60-70k weight. Lightweight allows for insane rushdown with stagger builds, deleting bosses below a minute. Also I havent played any shooter in many years but picked up Apex legends recently, and man was I bad at the start. But after many hours learning it, I noticed great improvements. I think it is mostly just a matter of learning the game and willing to change (which I think AC6 does very well)
33 yrs old, ac vet as a love of ac3, ac3 SL, Nexus and LR.... and to play medium bipedal, (me for life) you have to learn to "fly" literaly. and know which dmg to not worry about, and which to worry about. Lock on will save your life, press R stick down then let go of it, will be much easier. as for age, LOL as a valorant and csgo vet, I feel the reaction slow too. but in ac6 there is a flow, just gliding around, dodge big hits, eat small, kill them before they kill you
I feel the same way about pretty much every difficult game at first, but honestly it's always just a matter of time before the controls become muscle memory and you don't have to think nearly as much about what you're doing. I didn't really feel fully comfortable with this game until somewhere in NG+, and now enemies that gave me trouble the first time go down without any issue. A lot of that probably comes from having better weapons and higher stats from OS tuning, but that's not a bad thing. It gives an actual sense of getting progressively stronger as you also gain more experience. I've used a heavy tank build maybe twice in the whole game. I just really like being mobile, so I almost always have a build with a boost speed of at least 320 at the lowest and quick boost at 360 or so. The extra mobility makes a huge difference when it comes to avoiding damage, and if you don't get hit very often you don't have to worry so much about how durable you are. I absolutely recommend playing NG+, and then NG++, especially while you still have the momentum going. It's not the same exact experience as the first run, it changes things up a bit. Plus you can max out your OS tuning.
It used to not be souls like. Still easier than souls games but still challenging. First play though imo is the hardest NG+ cake walk. NG++ so far easy .
I mean, it was a challenge and I agree that heavy builds are the obvious choice for PVE. Still, I ran through NG+ and NG++ with a extremely light build of Schneider parts and laser handguns with sweet sixteens in the weapon bay slot. I think it comes down to getting the movement and boosting down, then the lightweight ACs absolutely crush the game. I think they are the obvious choice for bosses as they are the best at dodging enemy projectiles.
Ironically dual ransetsu rifles are really viable now for bosses in this game since they did get a buff. Those and the homing missiles make a great combo for anyone wanting to be midweight and not feel rolled by all the high mobility bosses. Mainly Ibis, Ayre, and Allmind. Another weirdly good build is dual flamethrowers. They have the highest damage potential in the game i think, with 1200 ammo and 85 damage. Nearly no stun sadly but the sheer damage is enough to watch high mobility bosses like ibis literally melt. Just have to be good at knowing their movements since it doesn't have the same sparkle as stun+big hitters which create openings for split second high damage. A decent midweight build to run this is Basho legs, Cinder's core, melander c3 arms, and whatever head. Also Coral generators tend to ignore alot of the generator mechanics of the game like "don't use all your energy up when building or the regain will be slow" since they instantly recover 75%+ after depletion, so for like the flamethrower build or stun dart build, works good with little draw backs.
I did not want to look up anything my first playthrough and after getting stomped by Balteus 15 times, i decided to go back to previous missions and try for some S ranks till I had more cash to buy everything. After getting 6 S ranks and buying all the parts up to that point and playing around in the AC tester, was able to get him in 3 attempts. With assault armor and the right tanky - firepower build, it is possible to simply throw more lead at him until he is locked down.
I never looked up anything either except when I had to fight the Enforcer unit cuz that fight genuinely broke my spirit Balteus took me an hour to beat. I don't remember how often I died to him sadly
Suggestions: try mouse and keyboard, make a whole lots of difference in gameplay and feel. I love this game but can't win using controller, so I switched to mouse and keyboard. Other game however like monster hunter world and ace combat or forza horizon are much more comfortable using controller.
i S-Ranked almost every mission first try by just using a kinda tanky med weight build with 2 stun needles and 2 zimmerman. its about 325 or so speed and just massacre basically everything. only on missions with AC pilots, did i swap to a 1-shot build so they cant heal and i end the mission faster. its really not a skill issue. i am deep in pvp now and am vastly more skilled than i was when i did all of that. my advice is to learn the stagger mechanics and exploiting them. any boss is a 20 second MAX fight with that setup.
for me, that cant play souls games i see this has nothing or almost nothing, aside from bosses telegraphic atacs, from souls games. i treated as a monster hunter game with soft lock. some bosses where challenging but noting terrible i used heavy biood or lightweith mech. lightweit are fast , can easily dodge almost all bosses can yrow at you
Hmm I did use that lock on a few times but I found that it would drop off if they got out of my peripheral vision Starting to wonder if I didn't just accidentally hit the button again and didn't notice
Heavy builds here is like magic in souls games. Its the noticeably easier way to progress. But lightweight is more engaging and rewarding. In my opinion
best way to differentiate each build for me is using build terms from the souls games. heavy builds being magic builds in Elden ring, that being fairly good at melting anything and having a sort of safety net, the net being you high stagger resistance and health pool in this case. medium build are best for having a good middle ground if built out properly. think the guy that saw a cool spell but really likes swordplay too. this is usually what the average player would go for since it allows you to equip heavy weapons to a certain degree and give you a decent dodge boost (if you are using good enough thrusters), lightweights are high risk high reward builds think the guy that forgoes any thing but the big fuckoff sword and no armor in a souls game. the real boss of armored core games is staying in optimal lock- on range and not losing your target in the frenzy of artillery.
you can tell i wrote this before finishing your vid 😅. good new though, there is a good slow paced style mech series that I'd think you'd like it's called mech warrior. you should check it out when you get a chance.
uh....I think your too hard on yourself. everyone has their own style and speed. I tried playing crysis 2 at the start of covid... and I died...a lot. and destiny 2 isn't a forgiving game either.. rhulk, first deciple of the witness. vex minds..raids are infamous for being punishing. rhulk just walks around kicking you like a bug (except the warmind dlc, but we in the community don't speak of that) sorry, tangent. there's also devil may cry (very difficult) and etc etc etc. in short. don't be so hard on yourself dude
i like lightweight builds because they go zooom wheee and if you know how to build them you can get great damage. used lightweight for almost the whole game. that being said, at one point i decided to rebuild to heavyweight against one of the final bosses i was struggling with and i went from dying every time to winning first try with a repair kit to spare, so lightweight might make the game harder lol.
I can feel that. Getting my ass handed by the pre-nerfed bosses with insane tracking and aggressive movement / evasions made me feel like i shouldn't play these games anymore. But: i finally did it and AFTER beating the bosses (i love these self implied rules) i searched the community for ways to do it better - just to learn that i made the game artificially hard for myself by not adapting my loadout and Playstyle. Because, sure; I played a thousand games, and i know how this one works - how hard it can be? I think you're like me and your "getting-old-problem" is not bad reflexes, but being too stubborn 😂
Here is tip number 1, if you cant keep enemies locked on just use aim assist, no shame in it, it was designed to combat boss ACs that are way too fast, unless you play on PC and are good at fast aiming i dont recommend fighting fast bosses with soft lock. If you want to change your playstyle, just try to pick only reverse joint legs or quad for future playthroughs (wheelchair is too overused and bipedal are neither here nor there). Depending on the legs and the speed of your quick boost, your playstyle will change. I prefer my mechs to have a fast quick boost recharge, therefore i always try to make their max weight and en load lighter than allowed (this allows me to dodge more and further then necessary to be on the safer side and recharge my energy as soon as i touch the ground for 0.6 seconds), the more extra energy capacity you have the faster your energy fills up. If you think about how you have 3 repair kits worth 4000 AP each, so 12000 AP, then your health difference between a heavy AC and a light AC isnt as massive as you initialy thought, the only real difference is the defense stat and stability to combat stagger). So think next time you pick that heavy core, should you continue increasing your armor or maybe a speed and energy increase will be more beneficial to you, combine various generators with thrusters to find your golden ratio. Sometimes you think you are too slow for games like these, while in fact its because you never considered what would happen if you could dodge everything constantly. Practice makes perfect. You can still use one heavy shoulder weapon for light builds and combo it with either melee or rockets, or just go full rocket mode. Or maybe you want to go close range with a double melee build, which basically deletes bosses if used correctly. Experiment with less popular weapons, practice in TEST against that AC pilot, learn to react to lock on alert sounds and dodge in time. That way your brain will work overtime to create something uniquely yours, and after extensive testing when you discover 'your' build, you'll love it and appreciate it more than ever =) Dont follow the general trend of what's the most popular, find whats 'yours', FromSoft always leaves a way for creativity...
So i played the whole thing ... including all three story lines... only found heavy useful very early more or less till you clear the wall... light is imo the superior build if you have the dodge skills.
There are 80 year Olds kicking ass and taking names on Apex Legends. And I wouldn't doubt if soon we see someone's grandma beat NG++. Getting old sucks, but you can absolutely get good if you try hard enough. Anyway I'm glad you did enjoy the game for the most part
Praying that I will still playing games when I am a senior like those legends I remember that old man who played runescape on twitch for ages. Loved that guy
my light build reccomendation: head - kasuar/44z core - nachtreiher/40e arms - vp-46s legs - nachtreiher/42e booster - fluegel21z fcs - kinda up to you i use fcs-g2/p12sml generator - vp-20d with this build i can still use heavy weapons like songbirds, just not two of them. you need to prioritize what heavy weapons you want to deal big damage with and pick some lighter weapons for easy enemies and/or staggering bosses
Its nice to see someone that actually understands that its not the game that's bad in a situation like this. Not every game is going to be for everyone, and that's fine. Knowing what you like and what you don't, or what you can and can't handle, is key to actually having fun. I feel bad for all the people that just blindly throw their money at whatever game is currently popular, without ever considering if its actually the kind of thing they would enjoy. Because they almost always end up hating ones like Armored Core that don't follow the current mainstream formula. And then they leave silly negative reviews saying the game sucks, when its clearly just not a match for their interests. Or they're too embarrassed to admit that they just plain suck at it, and blame the game instead. People like that, that always expect the world to change to suit their whims, are doomed to be forever disappointed. The world isn't going to simply hand you your next favorite game. You need to go out of your way and find it yourself. Your future self will thank you when you do. Also, Metal Fatigue rules!
That's rough, buddy. Joking aside, with these games I typically have a build I fall into, usually a medium weight reverse joint using rifles, shoulder missiles, or some sort of back cannon. I played all the way up to NG++ and only changed my build once in any meaningful way for the Strider alternate mission. It came to my attention later watching some tier list youtubers that Linear rifles were lower bottom tier on release, where I mostly got all the story done in. Could have fooled me. That being said, I'll be 40 next year, and the excuse you're using now is why I don't play CoD anymore and that was 10 years ago.
Its only hell if you want it to be. The difference between Souls game and Armored core game is that souls games the difficulty will always be hard while armored core you can pick the difficulty by youre assembly.
The statement that heavy builds are better in everything is wrong. Here are some incredibly strong lightweight builds that I can offer you: 1) 2 stun guns + laser drones +coral shield. 2) Needle pistols + Huxley bullet orbits. 3) Ducket handguns + vertical plasma missile launcher (or any other rocket launcher) + weapon of your choice 4) Zimmermann shotgun + pulse blade/lazer slicer or any other fast melee weapon + pile bunker on your back + songbird. As for the body parts use any lightweight details of your choice + Cassowary or Firmeza legs.

This is so...confusing to me. I breezed through this game. The boss that took me the longest was Arqebus Balteus, which was dead in 6 attempts. I've never touched a mecha game in my life and didn't use a broken build. Monster Hunter for example always gives me WAY more trouble. I feel like i get hit by EVERYTHING and i'm literally incapable of end game fights solo
Oddly enough I felt like arqebus balteus was way too easy for that late in the game MH is a different beast altogether. I have no issues solong G Rank monsters but a simple fight in AC6 will get me to lose my mind
i fear the day i get too old for fast games... but aging is inevitable. but well who knows maybe the cyberpunk 2077 level of Real life bionic Augmentation would come sooner than expected and we get to be able to augment our abilities and such.
If you really want to know why players use light/medium bipeds, it's mostly because we have a superiority complex. Also if you think the AC6 camera is hard to keep track of, oh boy you should look at a casual duel in For Answer.
@@ItsHawxFor Answer was the spin off to Armored Core 4, every generation of AC has a spin off that's a bit more refined than the vanilla version, but the fourth generation was known for it's blistering speed that made the gameplay look like two incredibly angry flies shooting high caliber rounds at each other. If you wanna see just look up 'Casual ACFA duel'
I doubt it has anything to with age, you're probably just not quite used to games like this anymore and i believe the fact that you managed to beat the game proves that, keep playing and getting used to it. A build that carried me through pretty much all my 3 runs was Zimmerman, Pile Bunker and Double Plasma missiles, at times i switch the Zimmerman for the Minigun or some other high damage weapon and th Pile Bunker for pretty much any other melee weapon, i would the weight around 80-90k for a good balance of mobility and defense. This might sound like a weird suggestion, but Sekiro might be good for you, it's very hard and unforgiving, but the amount of control you have of how the fights go is incredibly satisfying and really helped me improve in games, if you do try it take as slow as possible to really learn the mechanics and flow of combat.
Yep! Only after one of the comments here explained to me how target lock immediately drops if you use the regular cam controls again did I notice my mistake. I instinctively kept using the regular camera even while target lock was on. And as I didn't realize that was the problem I just stopped using target lock
it's interesting the bosses that give people trouble. The juggernaut didn't give me ANY trouble, but you seemed to have an easy time with the Sea Spider, which absolutely OBLITERATED me.
This game is actually the easiest from soft game. Once you realize you can’t just make a AC and run through the whole game , that you actually have to design your AC according to the mission. It’s pretty easy. I S ranked every mission without too much effort after learning what weapon setups are best for each situations.
I think the game is introducing alot of newer players who expected it to be easier simply cause it isnt dark souls. Ive played armored core since ps2 era, so i guess that im more used to being cracked at a game that strives to overwhelm you with gunfire and high speed metal buildings with a fear of STL movement speeds. In turn, im terrible at souls. Literally all of em. Didnt play much over the years like i did AC. So maybe thats the formula?
I'm 36. So I don't know man. I get it. The first playthrough is rough. But lightweight builds >. You can't kill what you can't hit. This isn't inspired by mech warrior or slow lumbering mech games. It's a love letter to old mecha anime. And those Mecha generally move FAST. So I encourage you to try a lightweight build. And as far as weapons? You need three weapons. The base sword(second best overall melee weapon in the game) and 2 ducketts. And the San Tai generator or the VP-20C. Youre welcome. You can do this.
This game definitely had a good amount of "Know what you are doing", some reaction speed, and sometimes just a boatload of luck. Hell near the end I had to default myself to a Dual Zimmerman build to beat it. But I still beat it, and isn't that really what counts? (Also I guess they nerfed a bunch of the bosses, so everyone who beat them pre-nerf gets to pat themselves on the back)
Well yes, beating it is what counts...NOW. in the past when my hands didn't suffer from chronical oldness syndrome it was more about trying again and again to get a clean run
your camera issue if because you are using Soft Lock instead of Hard Lock Hard Lock will keep the same target always in your field of view without any camera input what so ever from you. You can just focus on shooting and dodging So when you are fighting bosses/mini-bosses you want to use Hard Lock if you don't want to deal with camera movement it's interesting how you defaulted to heavy builds while having trouble because I did the exact opposite before I understood how the damage and stagger system worked, the only way I was defeating bosses was by going with light weight builds so that I wouldn't get hit after you learn how damage works then your weight is pointless because you can easily kill anything, just pick your weapon combo and min-max the rest of the stats as you see fit
I tried the hard lock but for some reason it would not track them. Specifically during the Balteus fight he would always dash out of my peripheral vision and the hard lock would stop tracking. I dunno if it was a bug or I simply did something wrong I usually default to brute force if technique gets me nowhere. Sadly that is a trait I gained from playing Destiny 2 as if your fancy set up with a bajillion buffs cannot get the job done, simply throw more grenades and the boss will evaporate
when you are in Hard Lock, if you move your camera then it stops tracking, you cannot move your analog stick/mouse otherwise it will stop tracking. Just let it track by itself and it should work without problems
Just because its difficult that doesnt make it like the souls games. All it really has in common is a 3rd person perspective, bosses and a dodge button. But even then the dodge doesnt work the same way. Armored Core is not like Souls and vice versa. Of course, 3rd person action games are going to have some things in common as they share a genre. But almost everything else is different.
You're supposed to adjust your mech when you have trouble. You can use the lock on assist when you have trouble keeping them on your screen. Heavy ac's are easy to design and lightweight ac's are hard to mkae decent until you have the right parts. Honestly I think you were probably doing fine, you jusy werent sure how to approach the game design.
I did! I just kept failing ;-: I know (now). The reason I never used it was because I never realized that me instinctively trying to adjust the camera after turning on target lock dropped the target lock. Oh yea I def noticed that about the lightweights Thank you! I believe you are right on that assessment
@@ItsHawx i encourage you , after a break, to attempt new game plus with a a lot of body / generstor options and different builds in mind and maybe revisit the game with a different perspective! That may be a decent video perhaps.
Revisits are always an intriguing thing for both viewers and youtubers. Tho since the game is pretty recent I doubt a revisiting would be quite the right thing to do just yet. Maybe down the line!
I beat the game with a medium build all the way through NG+++. Its more about what you're comfortable with and im not using a heavy build... ever. Too slow for my liking.
Never gotten into the souls games... Played Armored Core since AC2. Even played and still have a copy of Chromehounds. All non Armored Core From Software fans are playing the game wrong. Customize and Utilize. This game tends towards speed and power, with maneuverability and armor being a yin yang kind of. Armored Core was ALWAYS about the customization.... gameplay really is 2nd for this series. Build a mech u like and learn it, then build a mech with what u like from what u learn! Try new builds, and TEST TEST TEST... Rinse and Repeat
This game was very easy. I'm awful at souls games. Like i couldn't beat the tutorial boss from ds3. But this game was fun and easy. No i did not use the songbird needle launcher minigun combo. I was using double harris with 2 6 missile shoulder launcher.
Playing Fromsoft games is one thing. But, Completing a Fromsoft game is another. ( THAT'S THE TRUTH) If you realize you're horrible and you don't have the internal fortitude to figure it out while dying countless times. Then you're not ready.
I have a very simple answer to the problem with camera. You forgot that the hard lock exists. As far as I see, throughout this whole footage you're not using the lock-on at all, which increases the difficulty of the game tenfold. While free-aiming has its benefits, like increased accuracy by 15% or so, the downsides are much bigger. For instance, it doesn't let you strafe and nerfs your dodging a lot, and enemies will constantly dash out of your sight, as camera is not following them at all. Use lock on and you'll feel significant improvement in your gameplay, and all bosses will become easier.
I actually did try the target lock but I found that the lock on would drop off if the enemy went out of my peripheral vision so I gave up on using it Was there some kinda trick to that not happening?
@@ItsHawxfunnily enough if you don’t move your look stick while locked on you’ll always snap your vision at them, looking around while locked on breaks the lock
Bro, I'm 40 and beat the game with the beginner mech and some ost chips... You're fine...
Agreed
Oh that sounds...both like hell and really impressive!
The mech thing not the age
I've been doing the same thing, currently in chapter 3 and so far it's surprisingly been smooth sailing.
That’s more of a flex then you beating yourself down.
i'm 41 & getting super angry at some stuff... but i'm progressing. way harder than 1, 4A, 5 & VD for me.
Was able to get a lightweight build to have 2 stun needles, made every encounter minimal difficulty as a brand new player to AC
@mallow2902 Needle launchers, coral moonlight and the awesome stendo pistol
When a casual gamer says elden ring was not that hard they are not saying that they used mimic tear in every fight they could.
They nerfed the zimms lmao
@@rhoansuede7938zimms still way OP
Looking at the footage your biggest problem seems to be not using assault boost. It's the best way to cover distance, it even makes you a little safer from attacks. Also hard lock should turn you around even if the enemy goes off-screen, as long as you leave the right stick completely alone.
Bought game when it came out . And just finished it last weekend. Took me around 60 hours. The satisfaction I got finally finishing game was amazing. I thought I was done since it took a lot of my time. Especially from work. But going for the Bad Ending now and want the True ending. I think they put some drugs in game. It's getting addicting.
In armored core there is no good, bad or true ending, everything is up to your interpretation
I wouldn't call savior of rubicon the good ending? Sure it is a hopeful ending for the rubiconians but who is to say the war that raven started isn't gonna be the end of them or if they truly know how to use the coral and not have it get out of hand
Plus killing cinder, chatty and walter made me feel horrible
But yes they def laced this game with something cuz I couldn't put it down
The true ending is definitely coral release if thats what you mean. Savior of Rubicon is definitely not the good ending
8:00 are you not aware that the game has hard lock? it moves the camera for you, making it impossible to lose the enemy. has the downside of slightly reducing accuracy, but if you're struggling its worth using.
reasons for a heavy build: maximum firepower, heavy armor, lots of health
reason I use light builds: FUCK IT WE BOOST!!!

@@SubiKinubi no need to be sorry , you are simply incorrect XD
The reason you would use light weight builds is because you can dodge more attacks and get through missions faster

THE TRUTH ABOUT LIGHTWEIGHT BUILD
heavyweight builds are overall meta/better, but lightweight builds are more fun. They're harder to play. It's easier to S rank a lot of missions with lightweight builds. Move faster, finish mission faster, and avoid more damage. Many missions can be s-ranked EASY with dual handguns and a pulse blade
In PvP, overall lightweight builds are worse than heavy builds - even when played optimally.
Lightweight builds are very limited in weapon choices.
light weight builds have insane mobility and I like blitzing enemies. besides that I run med weight so I get to use better weapons and parts
It was so difficult for me to swap to lightweights cuz when I saw the weapons and their stats I didn't want to 😅
@@ItsHawx you can run stuff like double shotguns but shoulder choices are always on the lighter side.
Lightweight builds can stagger the enemy extremely rapid (Double linear rifles and missiles) but can be too frustrating to learn
Oh so you are supposed to get in, get off a volley, get out and repeat until staggered?
@@ItsHawx Yes and If You are too slow the stagger meter resets

Strategy? turn on Hard lock, find enemy, Assault boost or dash into enemy face and alternate weapons until stunned. When stunned, unleash full payload. Keep getting into enemy's face as much as possible. do not let up. ever. Be Aggressive. Go Ham. To pause is to die. To hesitate is death. You have two braincells: one is shoot, the other is follow.
Oooooooh thank you so much! I will def try this
Just use the pile bunker, dude.
You'll see...
heh
Thank you!
The reverse joint legs were also my go to for most attempts at lightweight builds but I could never really let go of my heavy damage weapons
Guess I will have to learn that
FYI the game gets much better if you use locked cam. Maybe not for multiple enemies but those are usually pretty easy anyway. The trick is not to touch the right stick at all once you’ve locked
Locked cam lowers your FCS performance
You’re doing fine, take a break and come back; you’ll be surprised at how much better you’re doing.
I will have a look! So far I only liked the plasma pistol and I didn't like it tooooo much
2 Duckets + 1 shoulder weapon of choice on a lightweight build trivializes alot of the boss fights.
6:28 I feel like this is a game where medium mech builds are for people that want something in the middle between hard mode lights, and easy mode heavies. They have their place.
As for my main builds:
Light: Essentially an upgraded version of the tutorial mech because I wanted something to keep the spirit of what the game is "supposed to be".
I think my go-to build in the future will be:
Right arm: Siege missile because it feels like the best missile launcher (unfortunately it's single target only).
However now using VP46D that sacrifices while little defense arms give, for 2nd/3rd best in firearm + melee specialization (also it's one of my favorites visually)
Legs: Spring Chicken.
I'm probably too busy to do it properly but I've been extremely tempted to go make a video to ease people into playing the game for some of these reasons:
Let's go! Glad you got to enjoy your time with it amongst all those responsibilities!
@@ItsHawx I really did. I'm extremely casual now and I only play ac6 for pvp and I'm loving it. Hope you will enjoy more throughout your gameplay!
@@Mrjvc163Once I find the time between work, studies and other chores I will def go back for NG+
@@ItsHawx awesome! Goodluck with your studies. This game isn’t going anywhere. It’s perfect for people with busy lives but still want to game.
Dude totally relatable. The game that makes me feel old however is rocket League
Anyone having trouble just switch to a build using double Zimmerman and double stun needle cannons if you have them unlocked. It’s the most broken combo in the game and should get you through any bosses you have trouble with. This game has a high skill ceiling as you play you will get better. I guarantee by the time you get all the parts and the third ending you should noticeably better.
oh I see! I will have a look
I switched to M&KB after the tutorial boss killed me the first time
Double Zimmermans and double stun needle/songbirds is current absolutely busted.
I beat him with 3 grenade launchers and a shotgun. Not ideal lemme tell you. Took me around an hour to beat him
Lightweight builds in my experience are less about reflex-dodging and more about controlling the terms of an engagement.
Wdym by "purple pummeling"?
@@ItsHawx Plasma fire in AC6 is ... purple. That's all.
great video man, keep it up
THANK YOU!
If you go wheel chairs, you can make the rest lightweight to achieve 350 speed. And still use chainguns and earshots
I think it is mostly just a matter of learning the game and willing to change (which I think AC6 does very well)
Oh for sure I would need more practice to get a better grasp on everything. I hope I can do so in the future
Im 51 and struggling too. ☺ miss the reflexes I had playing when I was 20. But its doable, it will just take some more tries than we used to.
The lightweight builds move so damn fast that’s why theyre fun
Just be reborn as a new type
And join the Zeon??
Gatling guns+stun needles trivialize most battles. Switch to zimmerman shotguns if you need cheaper ammo
Peace has cost you your strength. victory has defeated you.
I never looked up anything either except when I had to fight the Enforcer unit cuz that fight genuinely broke my spirit
Balteus took me an hour to beat. I don't remember how often I died to him sadly
Suggestions: try mouse and keyboard, make a whole lots of difference in gameplay and feel. I love this game but can't win using controller, so I switched to mouse and keyboard. Other game however like monster hunter world and ace combat or forza horizon are much more comfortable using controller.
...is my gameplay so bad that one can assume I used a gamepad? damn...
i S-Ranked almost every mission first try by just using a kinda tanky med weight build with 2 stun needles and 2 zimmerman. its about 325 or so speed and just massacre basically everything. only on missions with AC pilots, did i swap to a 1-shot build so they cant heal and i end the mission faster. its really not a skill issue. i am deep in pvp now and am vastly more skilled than i was when i did all of that. my advice is to learn the stagger mechanics and exploiting them. any boss is a 20 second MAX fight with that setup.
for me, that cant play souls games
i see this has nothing or almost nothing, aside from bosses telegraphic atacs, from souls games. i treated as a monster hunter game with soft lock. some bosses where challenging but noting terrible i used heavy biood or lightweith mech. lightweit are fast
, can easily dodge almost all bosses can yrow at you
27 pot head over here practice more your gonna be fine
My dude there is a hard lock on that so long as you don't mess with the mouse stays on target. I didn't see you use it once. It helps
Hmm I did use that lock on a few times but I found that it would drop off if they got out of my peripheral vision
Starting to wonder if I didn't just accidentally hit the button again and didn't notice
Heavy builds here is like magic in souls games. Its the noticeably easier way to progress. But lightweight is more engaging and rewarding. In my opinion
Lightweights are tough to use, but heavyweights and mediums are just too sluggish for my liking. Light reverse joints for the win
best way to differentiate each build for me is using build terms from the souls games. heavy builds being magic builds in Elden ring, that being fairly good at melting anything and having a sort of safety net, the net being you high stagger resistance and health pool in this case. medium build are best for having a good middle ground if built out properly. think the guy that saw a cool spell but really likes swordplay too. this is usually what the average player would go for since it allows you to equip heavy weapons to a certain degree and give you a decent dodge boost (if you are using good enough thrusters), lightweights are high risk high reward builds think the guy that forgoes any thing but the big fuckoff sword and no armor in a souls game. the real boss of armored core games is staying in optimal lock- on range and not losing your target in the frenzy of artillery.
you can tell i wrote this before finishing your vid 😅. good new though, there is a good slow paced style mech series that I'd think you'd like it's called mech warrior. you should check it out when you get a chance.
Don't worry. In terms of comments that post before finishing the video your's is one of the better ones
uh....I think your too hard on yourself. everyone has their own style and speed.
Ah thank you for the kind words! It's all good tho, I still plan on playing NG+ at some point and maybe that playthrough will be better 😂
43 and beat all endings with light and medium builds. Target lock required ahead.
i like lightweight builds because they go zooom wheee and if you know how to build them you can get great damage. used lightweight for almost the whole game. that being said, at one point i decided to rebuild to heavyweight against one of the final bosses i was struggling with and i went from dying every time to winning first try with a repair kit to spare, so lightweight might make the game harder lol.
Camera is not an issue if you use hard lock, seems like you used almost only soft lock
Can't believe I am not allowed to be stubborn in my games anymore T-T
@@ItsHawx you're even invited to be stubborn. Didn't you hear Balteus say "Be my guest"? 😁
Actually i don't think i did
Here is tip number 1, if you cant keep enemies locked on just use aim assist, no shame in it, it was designed to combat boss ACs that are way too fast, unless you play on PC and are good at fast aiming i dont recommend fighting fast bosses with soft lock.
Praying that I will still playing games when I am a senior like those legends
I remember that old man who played runescape on twitch for ages. Loved that guy
my light build reccomendation:
head - kasuar/44z
core - nachtreiher/40e
arms - vp-46s
legs - nachtreiher/42e
booster - fluegel21z
fcs - kinda up to you i use fcs-g2/p12sml
generator - vp-20d
with this build i can still use heavy weapons like songbirds, just not two of them. you need to prioritize what heavy weapons you want to deal big damage with and pick some lighter weapons for easy enemies and/or staggering bosses
Here are some incredibly strong lightweight builds that I can offer you:
1) 2 stun guns + laser drones +coral shield.
2) Needle pistols + Huxley bullet orbits.
3) Ducket handguns + vertical plasma missile launcher (or any other rocket launcher) + weapon of your choice
4) Zimmermann shotgun + pulse blade/lazer slicer or any other fast melee weapon + pile bunker on your back + songbird.
As for the body parts use any lightweight details of your choice + Cassowary or Firmeza legs.
Thank you! I will come back to this once I go back for NG+!
LOL WIIIIIIEEEEE 😂
Alter "Ich hör nen deutschen Landsmann" wiieeeeee 😂

This is so...confusing to me.
I breezed through this game. The boss that took me the longest was Arqebus Balteus, which was dead in 6 attempts. I've never touched a mecha game in my life and didn't use a broken build.
Monster Hunter for example always gives me WAY more trouble. I feel like i get hit by EVERYTHING and i'm literally incapable of end game fights solo
Oddly enough I felt like arqebus balteus was way too easy for that late in the game
MH is a different beast altogether. I have no issues solong G Rank monsters but a simple fight in AC6 will get me to lose my mind
Tbh this game is easier than I thought. Last Raven is still the hardest AC game in my opinion.
i fear the day i get too old for fast games... but aging is inevitable.
but well who knows maybe the cyberpunk 2077 level of Real life bionic Augmentation would come sooner than expected and we get to be able to augment our abilities and such.
Now that sounds like a plan
If you really want to know why players use light/medium bipeds, it's mostly because we have a superiority complex. Also if you think the AC6 camera is hard to keep track of, oh boy you should look at a casual duel in For Answer.
For Answer?
You mean For Honor or am I just ignorant?
@@ItsHawxFor Answer was the spin off to Armored Core 4, every generation of AC has a spin off that's a bit more refined than the vanilla version, but the fourth generation was known for it's blistering speed that made the gameplay look like two incredibly angry flies shooting high caliber rounds at each other. If you wanna see just look up 'Casual ACFA duel'
lightweight builds are fast. and being fast feels cool. that's all I got haha
Valid points
I went with a medium build and stuck to it it was a fun challenge xD
Hmmmm Sekiro you say....I will look into it
From watching your footage. You never seem to use "Hard Lock".
Yep! Only after one of the comments here explained to me how target lock immediately drops if you use the regular cam controls again did I notice my mistake. I instinctively kept using the regular camera even while target lock was on. And as I didn't realize that was the problem I just stopped using target lock
Once you get thru New Game. Its a breeze. Tip (Dual Laser Pistols) is a Op combo
you can kill everything in the game no sweat with a heavy bipedal and 4 miniguns lol
it's interesting the bosses that give people trouble. The juggernaut didn't give me ANY trouble, but you seemed to have an easy time with the Sea Spider, which absolutely OBLITERATED me.
Yea noticed that among my friends as well
This game is actually the easiest from soft game.
I almost insulted you over your incompetence with the juggernaut, then remembered i minmaxed a bunch of gear lol
Mech Warrior v Godzilla! good
your camera issue if because you are using Soft Lock instead of Hard Lock
Hard Lock will keep the same target always in your field of view without any camera input what so ever from you. You can just focus on shooting and dodging
So when you are fighting bosses/mini-bosses you want to use Hard Lock if you don't want to deal with camera movement
it's interesting how you defaulted to heavy builds while having trouble because I did the exact opposite
before I understood how the damage and stagger system worked, the only way I was defeating bosses was by going with light weight builds so that I wouldn't get hit
after you learn how damage works then your weight is pointless because you can easily kill anything, just pick your weapon combo and min-max the rest of the stats as you see fit
I tried the hard lock but for some reason it would not track them. Specifically during the Balteus fight he would always dash out of my peripheral vision and the hard lock would stop tracking. I dunno if it was a bug or I simply did something wrong
I usually default to brute force if technique gets me nowhere.
Just let it track by itself and it should work without problems
...WTF
Just because its difficult that doesnt make it like the souls games. All it really has in common is a 3rd person perspective, bosses and a dodge button. But even then the dodge doesnt work the same way.
Armored Core is not like Souls and vice versa. Of course, 3rd person action games are going to have some things in common as they share a genre. But almost everything else is different.
about your camera control try using a controller because hard lock on pc is unusable
Ahem: FWOOM FWOOM FWOOM FWOOM

When i promote this game. I tell the people they have to be ok with losing before buying it
You're supposed to adjust your mech when you have trouble.
You can use the lock on assist when you have trouble keeping them on your screen.
Heavy ac's are easy to design and lightweight ac's are hard to mkae decent until you have the right parts.
Honestly I think you were probably doing fine, you jusy werent sure how to approach the game design.
I did! I just kept failing ;-:
I know (now). The reason I never used it was because I never realized that me instinctively trying to adjust the camera after turning on target lock dropped the target lock.
Oh yea I def noticed that about the lightweights
Thank you!
Rinse and Repeat
you are not too old ... the new generations just have no standards to speak of

I actually did try the target lock but I found that the lock on would drop off if the enemy went out of my peripheral vision so I gave up on using it
Was there some kinda trick to that not happening?
@@ItsHawxfunnily enough if you don’t move your look stick while locked on you’ll always snap your vision at them, looking around while locked on breaks the lock
