I don't play anything newer than ps3, and spend most of my gaming hours on a PSP. Alot of my collection are repro's but as long as they work idc.

And that's why I hate current games in a nutshell. I've long turned to retro games, there's SO MANY to play with, and guess what? No internet connection required, no micro transactions, I can PAUSE the game, and when I finish them, I get actual rewards like powerups, or new weapons, NOT... a new color.

At 17:15 I don't understand the point. I'm Brazilian and yes, AAA games do cost a huge amount of money, but it's almost a 1:1 conversion ratio compared to US Dollars. Indie games are really cheap here, with games getting 50% or more price reduction relative to first world countries (look at Terraria, Oxygen Not Included, Pirate Software's games, etc). Regional pricing has no negative impact afaik, but yes, countries where their currency is not accepted by Steam do have to pay way more, but that's not because of Regional Pricing. Ghost of tsushima might be a game that nothing will attract me to it like that game, it's a masterpiece, and I love how jin changes throughout the story ngl

I think the moral of the story of "The Ghost of Tsushima" is that there is no such thing as an ideal hero: in the real world of monsters, if you always try to play fair and act honorably, most likely you will put a lot of innocent lifes at stake (especially when your enemy has no intentions of acting in the same way), and thus you will be forced to act in "unconventional ways" to save lifes, with collateral damage as the negative consequence. Because Lord Shimura was a slave to ineffective honor codes and always seeked to be an extreme loyal servant to the Shogun, he goes down the path of becoming the anti-villain of the story. By sending dozens of men to die in a meaningless charge towards an invasion force they alone could not stop (and also leading to him becoming a prisioner), his actions are what led to Jin going down his "Ghost" path in the 1st place. Then he tries to be manipulative and put the blame on Yuna for Jin´s "defiance" against him for using poison to take back Shimura castle, and by the end of the game, he still refuses to learn the error of his ways and selfishly desires to kill his own adopted son and former heir (even bragging to him about wanting to form a new family) because if he doesn´t, he will be disrespecting the Shogun´s orders and be on his "naughty list" along with Jin. That is a BIGGER betrayal than any other: betraying your own family, the only one who is left of it. On the other hand, I guess you can say that besides the Mongols, traitors and bandits, the unseen Shogun is one of the main villains of the story, since if it wasn´t for him, Shimura most likely wouldn´t be under the hierarchical pressure from his superior that would force him to lash out at Jin due to his methods and betray him.

Can we stop saying "gaming" is broken, dead, etc. The indie scene is still thriving, its aaa and giant corporations that are a disaster.

It would take too many people being patient for that to work. Also gambling Is very addictive. If people only bought games like gta 5, ballers gate 3 on release and waited for when other games became like $20 then it would work. Don’t tell people not to play games. Just don’t buy them at full price on release wait at lease 6 months ideally as long as possible till it goes on sale. Buy used also the studios don’t make money off that. It’d also just good finances and you get better games cheaper. After patches games become far better. And for what a full price game costs I’ll buy 5+ games often with dlc and performance and gameplay patched to be better. I buy about 2 full priced games a year sometimes on release only 1 depending on the games. Every game I bought full price I either will flip or trade in within the month or ones I will play for a long time like Diablo 4 with continued content or games I will replay like gta v or recently metaphor refantazio. Only physical games so I can sell or trade them in. Nowadays being on Xbox a lot of games come with the pc version for free. Those are the only full priced digital games I’ll buy since it’s likely I’ll play it in years on pc when my series x becomes obsolete.

The whole reason for Shimura’s adherence to the Samurai code was based on their flashback conversation where Tsushima was previously said to have been ruled / overrun by bandits. He saw how *order* brought stability to the island, and that’s all he knew as the antidote against disorder. With the Mongols coming in as a new form of order, it made total sense for Jin to use the tactics of disorder to fight the Khan. Shimura’s failure to adapt his mindset to suit the new reality is ironically how the Taira lost against the Minamoto in the decades prior

For someone to be “evil”, they need to enjoy the suffering they create. Which Jin does not. Jin does what he has to to save his people. And he doesn’t do anything that the Mongols wouldn’t either. Granted, what he does is not “good”, but still Jin isn’t evil

I'm gonna be the different voice here. I actually think what the game industry is doing is fine. The company owners aren't making games for the sake of art or anything. It's a business, and the primary goal of almost all businesses is to maximizing profit (this includes the future projects, so reputation matters too). That's what everyone should strive for. Of course, if it doesn't make money, then you failed. And someone else will replace you. Entertainment is a very volatile industry.

And in the original game the pyramids drop two eggs(I don’t know if they do in the new version) but they were supposed to symbolize their stages in life, Mary was rusted, dying and in the suspected end of her life, and Eddie, the silver egg, because he wasn’t supposed to die yet and was healthy. I don’t know if I believe it fully but it’s always an idea and would make sense with SH love of symbols and metaphors.

The key to creating a great villain is to make their story known. How they became it. And the logical reason for it. Jin saw the terrors in the battle of Komoda, and was willing to sacrifice it all, his honour, his code, and his uncle's trust, just to protect Tsushima. He is a hero to Tsushima, and a villain to the Samurai.
