- Welcome to update number nine, a minor update but still an intresting flight. A quick fly over of the Universal Studios GB site today gives us a good insight into how fast this project is moiving along. The archeologist team are swiftly moving across the site and we think it'll be finished for the diggers in ther next week assuming nothing major is unccovered.

Thank you so much for these updates. As a viewer, what I struggle most to visualise is the size of the area that's proposed to be the actual theme park. It would be great to see some BIG coasters superimposed onto the land, like a giga coaster or two, the new hyper coaster at Thorp park, maybe El Toro or son of beast, just to see how easily they would fit. I've seen other parks superimposed, but either the coasters in those parks are relatively small compared to a giga coaster, or they were parks in other countries I haven't been to so don't really have a good feeling for how big they are.
they are testing the soil, how well itdrains, what foundations todo etc all survey works before they can start doing any major works, trenches you see dug out they seeing how well water drains and how quicklyit can fill up :)

Really glad you didn’t manage to get that raft afloat; that’s the deepest part of the lake - recall 30ft+
When you say “shore up”, think you mean “bulldoze buildings into the lake”. Full of bricks!

Basically yes, they dumped it in the lake to stop the sides collapsing. I’m glad I didn’t sail away either , might have been a disaster.

A video type that's always popular, A drive around. People love looking back seeing how the environment has changed from 20 years ago.
Indeed yes, in fact I think there’s one of Bedford in the 90’s on TH-cam somewhere that’s pretty interesting. (If you know Bedford)
@ProjectUniversalUK yeah. That was my inspiration. If this gets the go ahead the change will be big and people will want to see how the local area has changed. Not many projects have this impact.
As someone who grew up in the area this must be even more exciting then it is for me and I live 3 hours away in York.
Oh yes, very excited for this to happen. I can see the site from my house so everyday when I go to work I get a good look.

The excavator/digger people will be busy for awhile. Lots of upcoming work to do!
Definitely but I’ll think they will have some much more serious machines on site once/if construction starts.

But isn’t there basically houses in the middle of the theme park? What will happen to those houses and the road?
The road will remain, the houses I suppose will be offered a good price to move out or they just stay put and deal with it.

Oh yes, I only flew over half the site today but you could see the other half. I have some videos from last week over the other side.

I don’t know yet, there was a rumour they have been offered a very good sell up package.

It’s for archeology surveys to prepare the land for universal studios to build a theme park resort. This is just the beginning.
They are called trial pits to assess ground conditions and composition to enable I.e. structural foundation design, utilities and drainage supply.
