If you find that the batch file doesn't work, try running the server file directly to see if that generates the EULA file for you. Once this is accepted and you are definitely on a 64 bit OS, the batch file should work
Minecraft is one of the most popular games on the planet, and this video will help you get started in setting up a server on a Windows PC. We'll show you how to create a local or remote Minecraft server, and how to set it up so that you can play with your friends or strangers - all they'll need is the minecraft server IP address and they'll be there ready to share their adventure with you!
In this video, we'll show you how to make a Minecraft server in 2023. You can make your own Minecraft server either local on your computer or remotely over the internet! This is an easy way to start building your own Minecraft server, and it can be used to play with friends or strangers to start your own Minecraft SMP adventure today! Once you've followed this video you'll either have a local server that you've used port forward to enable access to, or you'll have a remote server set up with the firewall enabled to allow anyone to connect to your server. - เกม
ATTENTION PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE ISSUE THAT THE BATCH FILE OPENS THE CMD SCREEN THEN CLOSES IMMMEDIATELY. On the top left of your minecraft server folder, click on view, look to the right and click the checkmark for file name extensions. You will see that you have most likely named your server executable minecraft_server.1.20.4.jar.jar Go ahead and delete the first .jar and it should work. I feel stupid
don't feel stupid cuz you're really stupid. and i doubt others have the same problem as you
Omg I feel so dumb tysm tho
Thank You
its still opening and immediately closing :( Im not really sure what to do. The EULA agreement thing hasnt shown up. all that i have in the folder is
minecraft_server.1.20.4.jar

@@eveerikson3590 Have you installed the newest java jdk? I had the same problem, because I had an old jdk version
Funny thing is that EU's highest court ruled that EU citizens can ignore any EULA.
Thankyou for this tutorial I tried to follow others and non made sense this one is perfect
this was the fastest and easiest video for minecraft servers, THANK YOU
Epic, thank you for your help
Great video, helped me a lot.
I had some issues with server visibility on my own device, because I used my own port and IP from Hamachi... But it was easily resolved in Avast (Hamachi connection wasn´t trusted)
Thank you so much

So do I have to port foward if my friends are joining from a different wifi somewhere else or do i only have to port foward if we are on the same wifi
I'm having a problem with port forwarding, I've done this before, 3 years ago. But now nothing works, I've tried just about everything, manually added the ports inbound/outbound and every single .exe with the word "java" in it. and it doesn't work.
i cant get it to run know mater how many times i do the make a start up bat file not working for me cant get it to make the server files at all frash install as well just to say :)
Can i open server at mincraft but no need to have open my pc and run it? so my friends can still play if i am not online
I need some help, whenever I try to open the .jar file, it asks me what I want to open it with. i've tried opening it with java.exe and javaw.exe and nothing is working. please help

Does everything I do on said minecraft server save? Or would I have to do a procedural backucks for the sever
anyone knows where to download the .jar file? cause that url only makes me download a bedrock server file
This video is very helpful with step by step for I am start up a server for me and my friends. But I would like to possible see a video about running muntilple servers on the same system and possible adding on mods to a server
Hi,
Running multiple servers on the same system is an interesting topic, and one that I hope to cover in the near future!
Adding mods to a server is actually fairly straight forward - all you need to do is download the mods and then add them to the "mods" folder in the server location (if the folder doesn't exist then just create it). Depending on the mod you might need to create a new world, and of course both you and anyone else joining will need the mod installed. locally.
great so how did you change the version in your video when you open the server it say 1.19.3 and when i open the server it say 1.20.5 but i dont like this i like to open 1.20.4 but i delete the files to this verion and its steal doesnt work can you help me im not so smart and i did what you say but the ip think i dont know what to do and the ip addres in minecraft

How to make files for restarting or shutting down the server while saving the world and data?
Hello, I am accruing continuously. My friends can't join the Server, I can on join it, when using my new pc on the same network, I double checkt everything, but can't find anything I didn't follow. Can someone help?
Do you use the crack laucher?
when i click to execute the .bat file i get a propmt for a split second then it closes and i get no eula file
@@xonpluto2292 Yep this is the fix!
I already had Java downloaded but I reinstalled it and deleted the previous one but it still does that same thing, any ideas?
@@BoshyWashy Have you definitely moved the server file into it's own new folder before trying to run it? Also are you definitely sure that you just removed the older version of Java? It might be worth trying the Java install again, and then before making any changes then try and run the server file (in it's own folder)
Make sure you dont copy the .jar when renaming the server, I did this on accident and the end of the file name was “.jar.jar” and it was giving me this issue
I do also have the same error what do I do?

how can i create a serer in an older version of minecraft?
I'm kinda new to this. Normally i'd use a 3rd party server, but since i started a modded server for the boys the connection got worse, so here i am. My only question is after all these setup can my friends join the server even if we are not on the same network? (Sorry if i missed it somewhere)
yes, thats what ur port does

Same here, stuck at the same spot.

Bro this is a great can you do Ubuntu on dedicated pc
Thanks for your feedback!
Setting up on ubuntu will obviously be a bit different, and I do plan on doing a video in the near future on this!
hello @Fasthosts, can you help me with a problem because when i try to host a remote server, i join in my own server using loclahost, then i ask my friends to join me using (myIP):(port), but then their screen will say, "connection timed out: getsockopt"
same issue have you found a fix?
@@daimonlong6439 gave up on trying and just bought a server with my friends, it's actually more efficient for me and stress-free than trying to tweak with port forwarding and other stuff that you need to run a server

I know this is a very late question from when u made this video but it was only recently when I found this video, but when I tried to run the .bat file, after it ran it said, done (5.465s)! For help, type "help", and it won't start. I don't know what to do from here.
Hi there,
That text actually means that the server is online and working. If you were to then join the server through Minecraft you'd see the text in the console update showing that your profile has joined the game, and will show any other changes that happen to the server.
ask infinity-node
Maybe a video where you can add mods? :)
I followed instructions exactly, but when I double-click on the bat file, the cmd window pops open for a second then immediately disappears and i have the latest version of java.
Same, so frustrated
if you are still having this issue sort by newest and look at my comment. i figured it out

This is great but is there anyway to update the version of your server?
yes, in the batch file.
i open the bat file and it does nothing
how can i join my server now? i tried but it doesn't
when i went to run the batch nothing happend a window popped up and went away and no extra files spawned
I Had the same problem
does the name of the server fale exactly same as the name in a batch file?
Will IT work with to launcher?
Hello, I’m interested in doing this, would I be able to install mods and receive updates while keeping the same world as time goes on?
Hi there,
The basic level that this tutorial would leave you at would let you update your server and also install mods, but it's worth keeping in mind that when you start to add mods into the mix the update process will become much more complex and will likely mean you'll need to stick to older versions etc.
If the bat file instantly closes, just remove the .jar from the java minecraft server name. then it will find it.
What if there isnt any. jar in the name and its still not turning on?
brooo your balls is very big
Thanks man helped a lot
@@REDACTEDDd964 There has to be one " .jar "otherwise it isn't a Jar file

How can I lower the version of the Minecraft server? I want to make it 1.18.2 but its on 1.19.4 right now.
Hi, your best bet is to download an older version. There are a few ways to do this but one way that I've done personally is using mcversions.net. Here you can search for the version you want, click download and then select the server file for that version.
Whilst I've had no issues with this, please be aware that this is a third party site and you do this at your own risk.
Hey bro! is port forwarding in neccessary in an rdp..
If you're using RDP then presumably you are connecting to a remote server - if this server isn't on your network and is with a hosting service provider, then no you shouldn't need to port forward, you should just need to open the relevant firewall ports with that provider
it tells me the network is unreachable: getsockopt
what is that
i cant cnnect to the minecraft sever i need help
i for some reason cant get the ip thing do you have to give them your ip or the ip on the screen im trying to start a server for my school
you typically want to provide your public IP, so the IP that shows up when you type in "whats my IP" into google etc.
I have 32 gb of ram and set for 8gb of ram is that right?
so, how do you join the server?
I tried making a 1.19.3 minecraft server the .bat file opened for a split second then closed and never made those files
Does the batch file definitely contain the right server name that matches to the server file? Have you tried following the notice in the description to make sure the server itself runs correctly?
You might've downloaded the wrong java like I did, do the exact method as the guide and it should work
I had the same issue, remove the .jar from the actual server name dont change it in the batfile/text document.
Is there any way to set number of cores for the server? Like fixing no of cores it can use manually?
Minecraft is capped to a single cpu core and thread. No power other than Mojang can change this as of now
i have a problem i cant open server with the startup.bat file i have to open in wwith minecraft_server.1.20.4.jar
I followed instructions exactly, but when I double-click on the bat file, the cmd window pops open for a second then immediately disappears. 😒
If that happens then this could indicate that you need to update Java, so definitely make sure that has been done
I realize this comment was made 2 months ago, but try removing the .jar on the server name.
my startup.bat file doesnt word can sombody help me ?
I added the mods folder and placed the mods in but the server still runs in vanilla and does not load the mods.
you need to add the mod loader. Like if its fabric. You need the fabricAPI and loader, I know that much from when making a hosted server.
how can i use this in game plz help!!
I started the server and I was able to connect via my private IP but when my friend try to join and write my public IP he cannot connect to the server.
any way to fix this??
If you're hosting locally then it could be that you need to set up port forwarding - it's a bit complicated to explain here to would recommend looking it up or getting in touch with your ISP to help with that one
I had the same issue, remove the .jar from the actual server name dont change it in the batfile/text document.
Is this similar for bedrock
When I run the .bat file I'm not having any new files being created on my folder. Any reason yall know why?
Try running the server file itself first - if that doesn't work then make sure your java version is up to date
waht ip do i need and how can i close the server if any1 can help me thx
how to change the server version
the startup closes instantly
how do you stop the server?
does this mean u get good ping?
hellou how can I change the word seed?
The Eula file doesn't randomly appear
i have a dynamic ip, is it still possible to do this with just my ip and the port?
Yes you can use your dynamic IP, the only problem is when your IP changes you'll need to let everyone know what the new IP is so that they can still join the server
when i try start the batch file it dosent start up then when i go to look for the eula file its not there why?
If you have no eula file that could be a symptom of another issue, but one way around this is just to make your own eula file:
Filename: eula.txt
Inside, paste:
eula=true
Once that's in place then you run the batch file again. If that still doesn't work, you might be on a 32 bit system at which point you can only run minecraft at the base specifications and so the batch file given won't work.
what ip do i put in to join the server tho
it just wont download the server files after i accept eula how do i fix it
Not an issue i've seen before, the only thing I could suggest is removing that eula file and making your own:
Filename: eula.txt
Inside, paste:
eula=true
Once that's in place you then try and run the batch file again, if that doesn't work you might want to start the process again from scratch
I clicked startup but nothing happened ...
This usually indicates that you either don't have java, or the version you have is outdated - I'd suggest making sure that this is up to date as the first troubleshooting step
How can i use the command prompt to find my servers ip address?
ipconfig
Followed directions to a T and I’m not getting the EULA folder what do I do?
The most common cause for this issue is the wrong version of Java being installed, so make sure to check that first.
If that is definitely up to date, try running the server file (.jar) directly rather than through the batch file. If you still don't have the eula file after that then you could always make your own instead - simply create a .txt file in your server directory called "eula.txt", and paste in the below:
eula=true
how do i get an ip addres for my server?
the IP address is your current IP address, can be found online, and then :(that 25565 number)
how do i change the server ip
how to finde minecraft serer port
How come the uela isn't showing up? when i click on the server it just opens Minecraft and not any other files.
If you are getting actual Minecraft opening up then something isn't right somewhere, this server file is a completely different program.
Someone else in the comments mentioned no EULA showing up and it was due to Java not being installed properly, so it might be worth double checking that!
@@fasthosts my java is installed just fine and the EULA isnt showing up
edit: I thought I had to run the batch not the .jar it works now
hey i am about to do this i was using aternos before but wanted to ask is there any way i can get that world and host it on my computer from now on?
Hi, if your server host gives you access to the server files (either by file manager or FTP) then you'll be able to download the world files and then import them to whatever server you plan to host on next - best bet is to ask your current host how to download your world from their servers
@@fasthosts Hi i did it i got the world files what next since i really do not understand
Hello,
I have 32gb ram. It is possible to give the server 25 or 15 gigs of ram?
should be if you put the correct multiplication of megabytes.
why eula txt. file didn't arive at the folder? any suggestions?
There's a few reasons this can happen, sometimes it's down to java not being installed correctly so that might be worth checking
Also try running the .jar file directly rather than through the batch file to start with, just in case there's an issue with that
how do i make it public(anyone in the world can join)
i got stuxk after port forwarding can you plese help?
is the cmd window also the console window?
Yes that is correct!
Microsoft changed the download path on the website and the process no longer works, rip
Hi, I've just followed the same steps again with the latest update and it seems to work fine for me - the only difference that I can see is that server name in the batch file no longer has the version number in it, but it's the same process of either copying the server file name into the batch file, or the batch file server name out to be the server file name.
Hopefully that makes sense, but let me know if there is another issue you are seeing
What server folder
follow your guide but after i click the batch file nothing happens. i see the command window pop up for a second then it just closes and my folder does not get filled up with the files. any clue on how to fix that?
Try running the server file (the one ending .jar) directly by double clicking it. If that doesn't work then it may be that Java was not installed correctly, so you may need to fix that.
@Freshly-picked-Memes Hi, the batch file is how you change the amount of RAM allocated. You may want to check if you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit OS - if you are running a 32 bit OS then the maximum amount of RAM you can allocate is 1GB, which would also explain why the batch file isn't working.
If this is the case then I'm afraid there isn't a way around this asides from using a device with a 64bit OS, or running the server remotely.
@Memes_24.7 I had a similar problem when I was trying to allocate 10gb of ram, switched it to 11 and it worked fine.
i think u forgot to run the jdk cuz he didnt show u that
he only said it
how do i find my ap adres on my local machen
im watching this tutorial only now, but i don't understand why it doesn't work, im trying everything but nothing, i create che batch file correctly, i double click on and it opens for just 1 millisecond and nothing more
Just to check, is a UELA file appearing in your server directory? If not then try and run the the server file (.jar) directly and see if that file appears.
If not then this could be an issue with outdated java, so make sure to check that.
try naming your jar file as just "minecraft_server" while leaving the batch file as "java -Xms1024M -Xmx2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar --nogui"
Bro mine showing unable to access paper.jar file
ive done everything but if i open startup there is like a warning saying this app cant be opened on thi pc
talk with the software maker (mojang) to find a version for your pc
That's definitely a new error that I've not heard of before - you may want to check what version of Windows you are using, and check that against the compatibility of Minecraft to make sure that you meet the requirements
yeah im using windows 11@@fasthosts
i redid the startup batch file again and now it just opens for a second and closes idrk what to do now@@fasthosts
@@i4fg Ok so like it says in the description, if the batch file isn't doing anything then try and run the server file directly. If that doesn't generate the new files like in the video then that sounds like a java issue so you'll want to make sure you've got Java installed correctly
ok@@fasthosts
