    FLOOD is a legendary classic game for the Amiga 😺👍🕹️.
    I played it a lot on my Amiga 500.
    One thing, that amuses me, is that, when you use a flame thrower, sometimes it turns into a rubber chicken 😹.
    And since i loved playing STORMLORD on my
    Amiga 500, i would definitely like to look for
    DELIVERANCE: STORMLORD II.
    😺👍🕹️

      Those sprites in Deliverance are massive. Some bosses are so big it's hard to imagine Amiga could handle them. And she does it easliy. It truly was an amazing system.

    I'd totally forgotten Resolution 101, but when I saw it, I remembered I played it back in the day. Have to try that again...
    Also, MegaBall (one of the versions) is always one of the first games I install when I install new OS on my Amigas...
    Great vid!
    Also, Flink runs great on any AGA Amiga with WHDLOAD... It's the reason I finally bought a CD32 type controller. ;-)

    Storm Master made me scared as a small boy as my father was playing it and the animation when someone from your council died frightened me. It is refreshing to see what it actually was about.
    I also played Flood, but didn't fully understood the ghost mechanic, thanks for clearing that up.

      Same here. Quite a lot of these I've learned about while working on these videos. But Amiga had a very strong Public Domain scene, so I wouldn't be surprised if these small series would get into double digits eventually. :)

    Well the Amiga was used to control a Video Toaster for special effects. Some people seem to think that’s putting the Amiga down but it’s really not, after all the Amiga was used to control a Video Toaster!
    I have to find Resolution 101, it looks so impressive. I assume it’s AGA only?
    Statix is one I’ve actually played a lot & really deserves a modern rerelease, although their doesn’t need to be many changes beyond a resolution & texture bump.
    Flood is another one I must check out as it’s new to me.
    Megaball V3 is indeed one I should not skip! Even though Arachnoid is the OG, because my first home gaming platform was the ZX Spectrum I still think of Through the Wall as the original. It came with every new Spectrum. Actually Spectrums came with a tape containing quite a lot of software, including games.
    Lost in Mine? Lost in your what? I’m sorry about that pun, I’ll see myself out. 😅
    The Misadventures of Flink looks fantastic. The CD32 should have been bigger than it was.
    Old video game titles were picked by throwing a dictionary in to a wood chipper & catching the first thing that floats down. I assume?
    Excellent video, I’m at a point where your videos have actually given me too many games to try for the first time but that’s a great thing, thanks.

    • @OldAndNewVideoGames
      @OldAndNewVideoGames  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, Amiga was responsible for most visual effects in Star Trek Voyager and Babylon 5. Some may dismiss it, but I think it's pretty impressive actually. Given that Voyager actually run until 2001.
      Resolution 101 actually runs on any Amiga with 1MB of RAM, so if you have 500, you're good to go. :)
      All 4 Megaball games were actually pretty good. 3 was the first that also supported AGA, so I though it may be worth highlighting out of all of them.
      Don't worry about he pun, I'm the king of cringe. xD
      Flink actually does not look like an Amiga game. I don't want to diss the system, I'm just saying that it looks like a SNES title and not something that was released on the Ami.
      And good that you keep finding something new to play and test out, that's the point of these Obscure games videos. What I've learned making them is that while some games may be rare and generally unknown, they sometimes have quite a cult following within the few individuals that actually do know of them. And that some games are difficult to place on a well known to obscure spectrum. Deluxe Galaga for instance, while it was a shareware title and not tripple A release, it somehow gained quite a big following. Was it big enough to consider it popular - I don't know. So, while I love the game to bits, it will not land in any of the videos in the series. If I was to make one for PC in the future, then Warblade, being a modern(-ish) remake of Deluxe Galaga would definitely secure a spot in a video. As given how big Windows gaming market was by the time it released it was generally speaking a very little known game.

    There are some good games here :) I like the thinking behind Transplant's password system; it would make that sort of game less frustrating and allow players to experience more of it without needing to put in a sweaty-gripped, laser-focused performance.

    • @IsaacKuo
      @IsaacKuo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the choice of a password system odd for the Amiga, since it comes with floppy drive built in (not to mention hard drive was pretty much standard in North America). It made sense for the C64 in countries where floppy drives weren't common, since saving to tape was an annoying and haphazard procedure. But with a floppy drive, game saves were quick and easy.

    • @OldAndNewVideoGames
      @OldAndNewVideoGames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fact that you were refunded money was actually really good idea cause you could try different combination of upgrades to complete the level.

    • @OldAndNewVideoGames
      @OldAndNewVideoGames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most if not all strategies, management/ business simulations and RPGs (and a large chunk of adventure games) had a save game feature on the Amiga? But arcade games for ever reason nearly never did.

    • @danyoutube7491
      @danyoutube7491 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IsaacKuo Saving to floppy is more time consuming and uses floppy disk space for little advantage with this sort of game - any game with levels always used a password system. Perhaps for games with very long levels it would make some sense to be able to save during the level, but I think that didn't apply to most games of that type. What's more, there might not be a useful point at which to load back into a level, i.e. there may be too many dangers around the player, no lull in the action making it safe to save the game. Also, the intention of the programmers might be for the player to try to complete a level in one go. Other types of game, like Civilization for example, used a regular save to disk system on the Amiga because they weren't a game with stage/levels to complete, it wasn't too do with a lack of means for saving the game.

    • @IsaacKuo
      @IsaacKuo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danyoutube7491 Uh, it takes way less time for the Amiga to save a tiny game save file than it takes for the end user to copy down that password.

    Nice video! I find some of your points incorrect. Resolution 101 and Flood were widely reviewed with a good score on release, so I wouldn't call them obscure. Just unusual premises and a bit different gameplay. Deliverance has excellent graphics and animation. Breakout pioneered, not Arkanoid. I'm sure there was a clone with upgrades on 8-bit (or early PC, same thing) before the original arcade release.

    • @OldAndNewVideoGames
      @OldAndNewVideoGames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose obscurity is kinda based on the region too, but I'm not gonna dispute the Breakout / Arkanoid thing. Breakout might've been an earlier title. Though I always preferred Arkanoid, so that's probably why I'm coming back to it. A mistake on my side, I suppose. On the other hand, before Doom we had Wolfenstein and probably 2-3 other games and yet we called them all Doom-clones... Nevermind. Oh, I love the look of Lost in Mine! I wish there were more Amiga games with tiny sprites like that. I would have loved playing Lost in Mine back in the day.
    Here in the USA, I think HoverForce and Megaball were well known. Actually, when you first showed Resolution 101 I thought, "Wow, that's a blatant ripoff of HoverForce." Then as the gameplay showed I thought, "Wow, this is just a shameless hack of HoverForce." Then you mentioned "HoverForce" and I realized, "Oh, this is just HoverForce."
    HoverForce was published by Accolade, a major game brand here in the USA, so it's not surprising for this game to have had lots of ads and publicity here in the USA.
    I dunno about Megaball. I played the heck out of it and loved it, but it did lack my favorite Arkanoid powerup - multi-ball.
