    The government has closed the town and returned the region to the traditional owners. It is illegal to stay overnight, without the traditional owner approval. You can still hunt during the day and leave before sundown, but it is a long way in and a long way out. The supply of good Mintabie is drying up. What a fabulous example, you brought out the beauty of the piece.

      Thank you for your comments. Yes, its an isolated location. It was a great experience to have been there a few times and see opal mining on a large scale. A producer of some amazing gems!

    Thank u for sharing ur knowledge with us on this vid. Would it b better to cut diff pieces n with the diff color bars make diff pieces? Or do u think it’s better to make a big piece like that? Im just curious n wanted to know your opinion on it. Thank friend

      Thank you for watching, your comments and your questions. With regards to this stone, I am following the instruction of the owner by keeping it as one piece. Cutting it into smaller stones would almost be a crime as large pieces are harder to come by. I guess if I had a lot of this opal I might consider some small stones with different colour bars.

    From I can see is that you went too far! You might of lost money by not cutting it then cutting it into splits to get more and saving all the colors that you ground away in haste. But that is my own opinion. Sorry, but nice job otherwise!😮😮

    • @diverseopalproducts
      @diverseopalproducts  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your thoughts. Not my decision to make. Only following the instructions of the owner. Yes, it can be difficult when you see colour bars that you want to take advantage of but we end up with smaller stones and less return.
