    In this video: I've had this Schwinn frame tucked away for a few years now. With the Scott Team Racing being 99.9% likely a stolen bike I've decided against restoring that and instead put the parts towards this bike. I'll keep it as it is until I can find all the Suntour XC Pro the bike was originally spec'd with.

    Also, truth be told, you had inspired me with your videos before I even started on my first bike! I am truly honored to be mentioned in one of your videos!!! Keep up the great work as always and looking forward to the next one! 🤗🤗

    Love the build and the paint man! I do the same stuff but haven't started doing actual vids yet. Your stuff is great to watch!
    With the Spray.Bike paint I find the dusty effect happens when I hold the can too far away, they recommend like 10cm I think for colours and 20cm for the clearcoat.
    You'll notice the clearcoat cans have a lot more pressure so you can get away with 20cm.
    Try it out on a bit of scrap metal or empty can whatever, but fluid movement of the can at 10cm does the trick!

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I did pay attention this time to how close or far I was holding the cans. The clear was held a lot further away and did come out better than last time but I do think it's just the general nature of the "powder" paint that it will generate a fairly nasty powder overspray.

  • @vicsimmonds

    String pattern worked out great, nice riser bars. Dunno if you've considered getting gumwall tyres from buying really cheap women's MTBs of the era, they are often little used and we'll preserved if the rubber has survived. You can then transfer some black tyres and resell the unwanted bike. Thanks for the upload, great to see you back in full force 😺

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pleasantly surprised with the bars. I think they should make a nice cruiser. I didn't actually want gum wall for this bike! I think the black works much better but I'll keep my eye out.

  • @Ricobass0
    @Ricobass0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Doesn't "dusty" mean you are spraying from too far away, so the paint is drying before it reaches the surface?

    • @Korina42
      @Korina42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No; spray.bike is a dry paint.

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. Spray.bike is a powder paint so it's almost dry as it touches the frame anyway. Any bit of overspray automatically just falls as dust.

    Sorry, I love your builds and always have done, but I'm sorry this one is your worst ever. It's horrible. Sorry. You have wasted a super frame/bike of the time, despite loss of frame number, which all these years on is irrelevant? its still a Scott Racing! mis match of parts are horrible and an absolute disjustice to a true classic! If you were uncomfortable restoring it due to frame number you should have moved it on to someone who would have restored it! I am so sad you have basterdised this bike! I may get dissed for this comment, however, I am a true retro restorer, despite the cost!

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope you don't get dissed. Everyone is allowed an opinion. It was a fantastic bike in it's day for sure. Great tubing and great components but surely if you are a true restorer you would want those serial numbers. I look at it like the serial numbers are an artist's signature. Serial numbers can identify a frame much like a signature can identify a painting. If I wanted to buy a Monet but someone has scratched off the signature - it's not worth the true value - and I see bikes the same way.

    • @gaddmeister
      @gaddmeister 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MonkeyShred guess we see it differently I see the bike as a bike and what it is or was. It still was a Scott Team Racing with the original frame? I have restored many a classic Mtb and never once even looked at a frame number. If it had a tube replaced with a high tensile steel one or a crack in the frame then fair enough, but to me it's defacing a scratched Monet that could be repaired for the beauty that it was? It's like a damaged Mona Lisa and painting a.punk hairstyle on her instead of fixing the damage?
