    Hi Ben, I love pink its just so beautiful. My favourite pink is Scepter'd Isle rose first year in my garden and it is always blooming, some stems with 12+ buds and the scent is amazing. If I had to pick one rose for my garden she has won my heart

      I’m glad that you like it it will be included in the next collection filmed which is the soft pinks. It’s a much lighter hue than the salmon and peachy tones on display here

    Thank you for this, I was one of the people who asked for this comparison, so a big thank you from me.
    I thought I read (or did I just dream it) that you were going to do a comparison list of your recommendations for David Austin roses for containers / pots. I haven't seen it, so I'm suspecting it was just my wishful thinking ... but were you?

      Hi, thank you for your message. I’m really glad that you like them. Unfortunately it’s not a rose that I’ve reviewed just yet. It’s been difficult to get hold of in the UK over recent years.

  • @goldengirl65
    @goldengirl65 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    We don't seem to get all the varieties here in Australia. I keep seeing beautiful photos and videos of Lady Emma Hamilton I think it is called and saw Austin has cancelled it and as far as I know it never even got released here. Why cancel such gorgeous roses? When I asked them they said lady of shallot is similar. Photos I have seen show two totally different depths of colour so I'm now wondering how good the Austin staffs understanding of colour is if they think shallot is practically the same as Hamilton. I find it strange that they have so many other roses in say pink or yellow that are close in colour yet cancel the gorgeous Hamilton.

      The reasons for retirement vary the official line is that the right he’s no longer perform well in our changing climate, which is not true in my personal growing experience, it’s more down to copyright each rows when it’s launched is given a Latin name and a commercial copy written name once the copyright expires. David Austin need to make the decision whether the rose is worth spending more money protecting the copy written nine, all allowing it to be grown by other people on the Licence using its Latin name.
      Which is why I now include the Latin name in most of my posts

    I planted Eustacia Vye in a pot from bare root last winter. It grew and flowered well early summer but it has since sat almost dormant. No new foliage for the last two months. Is this normal? Is there going to be a growth spurt soon?

    Which ones would make the deep pink list that weren't in flower? Would Young Lycidas or Jubilee Celebration qualify?

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For me, YL is a crimson red, and Jubilee celebration made it into the hall, pinks section, officially marketed as a coral

    • @everettedl
      @everettedl 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@the_gardenerben interesting. I guess climate really does make a difference with DA roses. Here, YL is mostly deep pink/magenta. It's very similar in color to Princess Ann and Gabriel Oak. I actually thought Gabriel Oak was YL in the video until you revealed the name

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@everettedl the colours are slightly different here and of course there is the shape Gabriel Oak is much more raspberry. Pink opens fairly flat cushion.YL is very much more, a plum crimson, very dark, indeed very similar in colour to Munstead wood, but once again with a silver hue to it deeply cut the bowl is always surrounded by closed petals on the outside.

    Ben!!! Have you forgotten about Scepter'd Isle????!! You rated her so high that she was the first DA I purchased based on your review of her. Now you don't even include her in best pinks? 😒 😢😢

    • @costask3404
      @costask3404 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a video about deep pinks specifically though, presumably there will be another one for light pinks. Wouldn't you say Scepter'd Isle is a light pink?

    • @violettawlodkowska4190
      @violettawlodkowska4190 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @costask3404 Alnwick is lighter than Scepter'd Isle. My Scepter'd Isle sometimes is close to Gertrude Jeckyl with her color. Almost neon pink with bright yellow center. Pure magic !
      I think Scepter'd Isle is better than most of these roses.

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
