Thank you so much for showing the rose bushes. Unlike all other rose vies where they show only the flower head. To me is very important the visual aspect of the whole plant not just it's flowers and I would hate to spend money and time for a plant I would end up not loving.
It’s amazing how quickly the roses get added into our gardens. You start with one & then 💸💸💸it quickly escalates ❤😅 Beautiful collection. I just got Summer Romance & Pretty in Pink Eden from Heirloom. And one order of 4 bareroots from David Austin: 2 Bathsheba’s, Poets Wife & Lady of Shallot for my mother in law. I already have 2 Boscobels & Lady of Shallot. Have a few other roses but those are the newest. I think 13 total so far, but I started maybe 3 years ago.
You have such a beautiful garden! I planted my first David Austin rose last summer. It is Princess Alexandra of Kent. I can't wait to see how she grows this year
Excellent and very enjoyable video! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful roses, and for identifying each one. I really enjoyed your video and look forward to more videos from you. thank You again.
I have a small Silas Marner. Can’t wait till he grows up & gives me roses like yours. You are 100% right about Earth Angel & the heat. I am in 9b full sun. She has grown into a big girl But gives small roses & few at that. I am hoping fall will be better. Spring blooms were much better. Love this garden tour. Just subscribed.
@totallydomestic433 my EA does well this year. I have to post an update video on my garden for this year. I decided to leave my EA where it is since I'm in the cooller zone. But no roses perform well in the summer, regardless of the zone. We just have to grow something else for the summer display.
What a beautiful garden! You showed me a few roses I had been curious about, like Princess Charlene and Abraham Darby. I watch garden videos for inspiration and motivation, and this video hits every mark, showing the whole plant and not just the pretty flowers. Is that nepeta growing throughout your garden? It's a beautiful compliment to your roses. Love all of it! Thank you. 😊
@mangotango5704 thank you. As the time I filmed this video, I only had the nepata in the section that I showed you. As I expand my garden toward the lawn area this year, I'm planting them everywhere. They are so great.
Your roses and garden are beautiful!! I have some of the same varieties as you. Thanks for sharing looking forward to seeing more of your expanding garden🌺
I should show this video to my hubby who never understands why I kept moving my plants in the garden. It’s a journey that we grow, we observe and we improve. Really enjoyed your video. I have more than 60 varieties of roses, too. Majority of my collections are from DA, Korowa and Tantau.
Beautiful ❤ Princess Charlene is my favorite. I agree with no spray. You can't get lady bugs if you don't have any aphids. Last year I got rose weevils and it was pretty disgusting. Hopefully this year is better 😂
My Summer Romance is also a very hard worker. I planted it last July (not even one year old) and already she is about 4x4 and dripping with blooms. Also the first to bloom this 2023 season. I love her!!! (I am 8A, Southern BC, Canada) Thank you for your lovely videos, your garden is beautiful and I love your rose updates. Please keep them coming, :)
You have beautiful roses. I also love my Princess Alexandra of Kent. She's very thorny but I cant get rid of her because the flowers are just so beautiful. I'd like to ask what kind of plants are the bluish lavender flowers behind your Summer Romance Roses. I am looking for companion plants and they look very nice with the pink flowers.
Love your beautiful roses and I appreciate your narrative, it is helpful! Could you share which variety of lavender you have planted with your roses? It is lovely with your roses!
Hello Liên, ❤️❤️❤️ the video. Love what you did with your big backyard! Amazing!!! Can you tell me the purple flowers you have lining the walkway? Are they catmint?
Wow! So many beautiful roses. We have a 7 DA roses and so far our favorite is Crocus Rose. Been eyeing Summer Romance and Earth Angel from Kordes also and they are look amazing in your garden. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, you have the most beautiful roses. I started seeing TH-cam videos and hearing about David Austin .As soon as I saw them I fell for it andI bought three last year this year I bought 16 total 19 David Austin Roses🌹 can definitely get addicting. I must get Eden it’s my goal this fall is gorgeous anyways.Happy gardening 🌹🌹🌹
I just subscribed you did a wonderful job narrating your roses I bought my first David Austin. I’m new to growing roses so keep your fingers crossed. Can you tell me if you have trouble with deer eating your plants in your garden and if so, what do you do for that?
Deers are roaming my neighborhood in a pack of 4-8 every day. The only thing that works is a 7 foot fence. Nothing else works here. They eat everything, including salvia and beebalm, which are known to be deer proof.
Hi Lien, Love the video and all the info. Really enjoyed looking at your garden. Could you pls tell me the name of the purple flower lining the walkway? R they catmint?
Love your David Austin roses!! I’m starting to see it everywhere. What was your other collection again? The more expensive one that you mention. I want to be check it out too
Kordes roses. They are my favorite besides David Austin. They are not as expensive as the David Austin, but very healthy. I didnt mention this in the video, but the more expensive ones would be the Japanese roses, just because they are hard to find. They are popular among rose collectors.
That yellow is Julia Child, a wonderful rose that bounced back from near death at my house. It’s named after a beloved and famous chef- Julia Child - not her kid.
I’ve just discovered you..such an enchanting garden😍I’ve just planted Summer Romance and I’m excited for the first flower! I was also going to ask if the purple was catmint (Nepeta) but wonder what variety yours is? We have quite a few here in South Australia and one that is recommended is Walker’s Low. Thankyou🌸🐝🌸@@plant4table
I saw an air pot during the video, do you use them for your roses? Do you overwinter in them? If so, do you have to add extra insulating protection? Gorgeous roses, very inspiring!
Yes, I use air pots for roses. I have to take them into my unheated garage to winterlize. I don't do anything extra to insulate them. I might get a hobby greenhouse down the road to winterlize my plants as my collection grows larger. There's only so much space in the garage 😂 . Thank you for watching.
I love ur garden! Can you tell me what the companion flower is you have there? The one that looks like nepeta, are they nepeta? Or salvia? I haven’t seen salvia that blue before though.
I got some from Heirloom roses, Roseunlimited, Antiqueroseemporium and other online vendors. Just type in the name of the rose you want in google and hope you will find a vendor.
It's been good. With over 140 roses, I can't keep up with the spraying even if I want to. So, I'm happy that I decided not to spray anymore. In the spring, I bought green lacewing lavae, and it was effective in controlling aphids and thrips. I also see more ladybugs this year.
Oh dear, i have earth angel she is apx one yr old now. She is in a big pot in sun/shade spot. She has grown big but only gave me one flower all season! She gave more when i first got her. She needs more sun. I am in zone 9a & the only place i have is full sun. Scorching Fl sun. I am acclimating her now where she is getting plenty of sun and in a while, out she goes in the ground. I am surprised because someone else said she was a sun lover.
All roses are sun lover. They need at least 6 hours of direct sun to do well, but not the scorching sun if that makes sense. They do best between 60-80 degree. Above that, they might need some shade in the afternoon. It is good that you put her in the ground. She can get huge. I love the round shape of the bush. It doesn't throw out octopus canes.
I am thinking of buying the princess Alexander of Kent . Can you please tell me if the stems are strong or do they fall off because of the weight of the blooms ?
Silica fertilizer is quite cheap and makes the plant cell walls thicker and stronger to resist disease like molds and piercing insects which is great. Also the type of nitrogen in the fertilizer you give can either give soft thin leaves or thick hard leaves. Urea and ammonia nitrogen is the soft leaf, and nitrate like calcium magnesium potassium phosphorus nitrate are the good kind to get. Pretty simple but overall the effects add up and can help a lot when you have lots of plants. No pesticide option for helping when you already fertilize anyways. Also means the flowers stay food safe for yourself or pets if you have pets that eat them.
Thank you for the valuable information. The aphids are gone due to other beneficial insects. However, I'm currently battling Japanese beetles, and there is no predator for these nasty beetles 😤.
You can get them from Heirloomroses, Jackson Perkins, Antiqueroseemporium, Rose Unlimted.... Heirloomroses is the most expensive of them all. The plants are small but own-root.

No, I'm in Pennsylvania zone 6b. EA looks okay for now because it is still in the spring. I have to see how she does in mid summer. You should see how yours does before moving it.
They will if the weather is too hot. Avoid moving roses in summer months. It is best to locate when they are sleeping in the winter or early in the spring, like right now in March, when they are just waking up.

The purple flower is catmint. It's a great companion plant for roses.
Love your beautiful roses and I appreciate your narrative, it is helpful! Could you share which variety of lavender you have planted with your roses? It is lovely with your roses!
They are not lavender. They are catmint. I love the smell of lavender, but they are very hard to grow near rose because they don't like much water.
@@plant4tablehi what’s the catmint name?
@@babygirl2912 It's called Cat Meow
@@plant4table hi do you find that your cat mint attracts cats? I’m looking for one that does not.
Beautiful! What are the blue flowers along the walkway? Thanks! (The name of the variety?)

❤️❤️❤️ the video. Love what you did with your big backyard! Amazing!!! Can you tell me the purple flowers you have lining the walkway? Are they catmint?
Yes, it is nepata cat meow from Proven Winners

They are either cat meow or cat pajama, I forgot.

The stems are not strong enough to hold the huge blooms, at least in the first 3 years. You definitely need to stake the canes.
Silica fertilizer is quite cheap and makes the plant cell walls thicker and stronger to resist disease like molds and piercing insects which is great. It has fruity scent. It smells like lychee to me.
How many Silas marner do you have to get the full bush like that?

That’s my huge problem with David Austin roses: huge beautiful blooms on very thin canes/branches. They always drooping
