I'm a homeschooling mama of 3 and I have been not working out at all since we started back in July with school and you've inspired me to just do it in the morning outside while the kids play. I'll start tomorrow and see how it goes! Thank you so much for showing us a glimpse in your life.
YES!!! Tell me how it goes tomorrow. Comment back here :) I function SOOOOOO much better when I move my body in the morning. I went a few months recovering from an back injury and oh how I missed just moving my body.
This was great, Heather! I was homeschooled my entire education. In my junior year of high school I went to college a year early. My wife and I now homeschool our three boys.
Hi! I am a new homeschool mother, here in Philadelphia, PA. My 5 year old daughter, Rosie will be starting Kindergarten on tomorrow, Sept. 4th. We most certainly enjoyed your GREAT, organized morning routine! 👍😀👍😄👍😄👍😃
I L O V E this! Never thought to switch up the school times that way, some days morning, some days afternoon. It's the beauty of homeschooling right! Not so rigid and it conforms to the family, not vice versa. Love this whole video. Thank you.
Love the part, especially, about the garbage truck, and how they swept up leaves where they were waiting. The life of a homeschooler is such a different experience, a better, more real, experience. As a longtime school teacher and school leader, I can tell you virtually nothing about the traditional school day minimix or prepares kids for reality. Fortunately, most of my career was spent and non-traditional educational settings. Thanks for sharing. Peace.
Thank you for sharing!!! I love how excited your kids were for the garbage truck. Every time my kids hear the garbage truck, they run for the front window. It is just so exciting. Ha ha.
Amazing! :) It took a bit for both my husband and I to be on the same page but he is my number 1 supporter in homeschool. He loves it just as much as I do. He even took off the first week of school this year so he could be present with the kiddos and start their year off right. Now he likes to be involved with the nature studies, history, and reading. It's so wonderful for kids to see both parents involved and for them to see US learning new things too. We make it a point to read books in front of the kids, to learn new skills, and to involve them in as many life lessons as possible.
When we start homeschooling in the fall my 2 will be the exact same age yours were in this video. You're tips and advice were super helpful to me! Thank you!!!
I am in love with your early morning routine. I always try to squeeze my workout in after the kids go to bed, or during the toddlers nap time. It almost never happens because I'm too exhausted after a full day of work. I love the idea of doing it TOGETHER in the morning, before school starts. Going to start this in our home ASAP!! :)
I really enjoy your channel and will definitely be back! I enjoy making handmade reading comprehension materials for my little girl as well as math related resources. We are now working on decomposing and composing numbers and are having fun! Thanks for posting. Thumbs up! And subscribed! BBG
Oh my gosh! I pretty sure you have just forever changed my life with that plates, bowls, and cups hack. 👍🏼😉 I love that you start your morning off with the kiddos being active. I usually wake up extra early by myself to exercise, but I never thought to involve the kids. We have an awesome park close by with a track and outdoor workout equipment we an go to. Thanks for all the awesome ideas!
About to become a homeschool mom so this video is super helpful. What I like the most is the mom hack at 2:30. We do the same thing here. Looking forward to learning more from you!
Awesome morning routine! I am still waiting for my youngest to learn to ride his bike without training wheels, so for now I just use workout videos while the boys are sleeping! We are so much a like. I have had a kids dishes cabinet since my oldest was 1 or 2. My mother in law gave me the idea and after almost 14 years I never even thought of it as a mom hack, but here one I have shared: with kids let them eat off of a big plate and less food goes on the table or the floor and they are more likely to eat all that's on it because it does look like a lot. the latter didn't work for us so much, but it made a huge difference in the mess on the floor!
What a great mom hack! Love that idea. They usually use their plastic plates for snacks and such and for regular meals we use the regular plates. We wanted them to understand early on that you have to be careful with plates and glasses so we have had them eating off regular ones since they started solids. A few plates and glasses have been broken but the lesson is instilled and we haven't had a problem with breakables for a while. Thanks for watching! :)
Yes, us too! I honestly didn't want to hand wash all those plastic kid friendly dishes when I could just give them a regular plate and let the dish washer wash them and glasses too! I would rather have fun with them then spend extra time cleaning! We haven't had many broken dishes and usually it was me who broke them. You know later at night super sleepy while loading the dishwasher oops! It's amazing what kids can do if we just teach them then set back and let them go! My boys can make sandwiches, cook eggs, cheese tortillas. I truly want to raise men that God will be pleased with and a woman will want to marry.
OMG how did I get here? Anyway, I want a child now lol and teach him/her things beyond the system. You know, how to save money, pay taxes, fix a tire, mindfulness, meditation, personal values, authenticity, nutrition etc. instead of focusing on crap for hours in a row.
Seriously! School didn’t teach me about the importance of having good credit. It didn’t teach me about, like you said, meditation, changing a tire and taxes....I’m already teaching my 2 & 3 year old at home but am really contemplating if I should just homeschool them the rest of the way 🤔
Thanks Sarah! Yes, a thankful or gratitude journal is a MUST. It starts your day off with what we are grateful for rather than what has to get done. :)
@@HeatherTorresTV You are brilliant! I am going to start doing that with my child as well...this was a very cool video! I want to learn more. #homeschoolinginJamaica
Wow I am amazed to see the rubbish truck. In uk usually 2-3 guys are in a team to collect rubbish. I guess our streets are very narrow so needs human assistance.
I love this video !!!!! I loved seeing the kids wait for garbage truck! I can't wait for that schedule and planning video ! 📋 I've been considering starting our mornings with exercise also . Thank you for your awesome inspiration!
I am a morning workout gal. I've tried to do it in the evenings but I never push myself enough. My kids focus so much better if they get the opportunity to run around a bit before we get started too. Thanks for watching. Scheduling video is in the editing process and will be out soon! :)
Thanks friend. :) This was typical Tuesday. I feel like I should record every morning so I can show more of the craziness that happens! haha. But you get it. Work/homeschool mom is always fun!
Hi, just found your channel it just popped up while watching the texas boys. Coming over from their channel to find yours is such a joy. There's some thing so peaceful about you and well i just thank the good Lord He brought me over to you. Thanks for being such a joyful help to other mommy's around the world 💐💞🙏😀
this is SO helpful!!!! I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now with trying to juggle homeschooling and I'm so excited to binge watch your content! lol!!
Hey Jamie! :) Oh I know! The overwhelm is real! #momlife Some days I just decide it's an art day and we just listen to books on tape and do art all day drinking tea and coffee and wearing comfy pants. With homeschool, work, and TH-cam if didn't pre-plan (everything!) I would end up curled up in a ball under my covers and not come out.
We have the same kid plates/cups/bowls that we also keep in a lower cabinet for the kiddos to access. On the countertop above is a cutting board (practicing cutting apples and such) and a pitcher of water so they can learn to serve themselves :) Looking forward to more videos. I also work from home (and have video conference calls most days) so I am curious to see how others "fit it all in'. Great video!
I love Ikea (where we got the kids things from). YES! I am all about teaching independence to them as soon as possible. We have water that comes out of our fridge so FINALLY they are able to get it themselves. Love it!. Thanks for watching. :)
Love the plates and cups on the bottom. I did this too and then should have put a baby proof hook on them because my one year old pulled Everything out on a daily basis!
Laling Candel ya it's for the benches where I put the camera. The teens were using there bikes and skateboards for ticks on them and the HOA decided that a silly sign was going to stop them. Haha. So now we have all these signs around the park. Super great way to waste our money on silly things!
Just found your channel. Love your vids, so positive and productive. I really liked how you began the day with exercise and the thankful journal/bible readings. Gonna try those in our school this week :)
10 Acre Farm thanks for watching! I appreciate your time. I find that starting off the day with those two things is what keeps me going for the whole day and puts the rest of the stress in life into prospective.
It's SO great that you get up in the mornings and workout with your kids! That's definitely a goal of mine! I am a complete newb when it comes to exercising 😂
I love that you got your son to find the page in the Bible. I’m just venturing into the world of homeschooling so I’m trying to learn as much as I can before September. 😅 Still trying to figure all this out. Glad I came across your channel Heather 😁
Hi just subscribed. Looking to begin homeschooling my 2nd grader and preschoolers in the next month. Stay at home mom of 4 little boys! Thanks for the informative videos making more confident and excited in our future homeschooling adventure!
I live in Brazil, and I love your videos! Youre blessed, a awesome mother and wife. Thank you for inspiring me, thanks for your brillant homeschool, youre pretty awesome.
Woah! I've never seen rubbish collection truck like that! I'd be excited too! We have men that run around, putting rubbish in the truck, then abandoning the bin somewhere near the house if we're fortunate
I love this! Love how you did your workout outside first thing! My goal is to get my workout done first thing in the morning as well. It's much easier that way! 😊
Thanks for watching! :) If I don't workout in the morning it won't get done. I love to be outside in the mornings. Brings new life. Of course I would love to just sit in my PJ's sipping tea or coffee but if I don't get moving I'll want to nap by 2pm. haha. How long have you been homeschooling?
Heather Torres I totally agree...devos and workout first thing is the perfect start to my day! My oldest is in grade 1, so it's my third year if you include both jk and sk! 😊
I'm beginning homeschool next year. She will be 2nd grade and has Autism. She has communication delays. I'm quite nervous, but public school keeps her anxiety to high.
You will do great! Just remember, just because the school system says they should be a certain level of achievement in each grade doesn't mean your child will be there. All kids grow and learn at different rates, it's only natural. Give yourself GRACE as a new homeschool mom and enjoy the process. You will start to really see the strengths in your child, roll with those!!!!!
Is it expensive to homeschool?? We have 4 kids ages 3, 4, almost 6, & almost 7. We’ve been trying public school, but there’s always an issue with something & my kids have learned more from me at home than they have at school.. to the point that at conferences the teachers are asking what I am doing with them. Im currently a SAHM(stay at home mom] & I feel God is calling me to homeschool. It’s been really heavy on my heart but I’ve brushed it off telling myself they need the social interaction.. but the more issues we deal with (bullying in pre-k & k, being treated differently because of our Christian beliefs, etc.) the harder it gets ignore. I just found your channel & look forward to learning more.
Hello and welcome! :) Homeschooling can be a small investment or a large one. You can literally homeschool for free from the internet and the library. Or you can purchase a curriculum set with all the books and worksheets and spend a good chunk of change. It really is up to you. let me know if you have any other questions.
You can definitely homeschool for free. You can also very easily homeschool for around the same costs you spend on school materials for public school. Of course above that you can spend as much as you like, by homeschooling on a shoestring is completely doable.
Wonder WoMom I’m sorry...I am a bit confused by your question. We were discussing the financial cost of homeschooling, so “free” in the sense that you don’t have to spend any money on curriculum, materials etc. I’m not sure how that relates to report cards and “department of education records” (not sure which records you mean). Report cards do not cost any money to make. All you need is a piece of paper and a pen, then you record your child’s grades. Most homeschoolers don’t give their children report cards though, except in some cases for their high schoolers in order to generate a GPA for college.
I am sorry about that. What I meant was, I can homeschool my kids without paying for any (example: tution fees for schools that cater/provide/offer homeschooling)? Here in our country, we need like to pay for 400 to 900 dollars for homeschooling, excluding the money we have to spend for homeschool materials, and also homeschoolers are required to enrol to sports, arts class etcetera as part of extra curricular activities.
What bible is our son using here? I have all the children's story book bibles and such but haven't found a good one that my daughter can actually read and understand where it's all coming from. His looks great!
WOW! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Made my day :) I love that the internet and TH-cam allow other moms to connect. Have a wonderful day!
Hi you mentioned that you had a video on how you set up for the next days lesson.I searched your videos and can not seem to find it. Can you link the video for me . Thanks so much appreciate your videos .
Heather Torres This is our 2nd year, officially, my son is in 2nd grade. I really loved how you started the homeschool day with the 3 things they are thankful for, I think it's great because this will shape their thinking in life.
Lol what state are you in that was so cute that the kids say hello to garbage truck ..we are in NYC metro area and that's just not something we see around here lol but we would love to move to a peaceful community
Hi and welcome! :) Thanks for watching. I'm trying to commit to doing several more routine videos for this year as our routine has of course changed (life of motherhood right?? always changing!) So with the new year I'll be posting a new video.
Oh we struggle too Crystal! I just want to respect my kiddos and their emotions so we've chosen not to publicly share their tantrums and misbehavior :) But it happens.... all ... the .... time! They're kids! :)
Great video hun, we have the kids bowls and plates where they can get them themselves it's amazing :) Thankful Journal is an AMAZING idea I think I will have to start using that. New sun here I'm going to go and have a gander through your more up to date videos :) Hannah x
I am so glad to have found this channel. I am also trying to juggle working and homeschooling and I work outside the home. I was requiring my kids to do independent work while i worked but i feel like I need to just do school when I get off in the afternoon and am planning to implement afternoon schooling on MWF and Morning Schoo TTH. I do have a question how do you handle dinner when you do afternoon school?
Gabrielle Mays welcome. Thanks for watching. I love meeting other working homeschool moms!! So my husband and I share the dinner duties. We are not big foodies so we make all of our meals 30 min or less. The only exception is the slow cooker. We are big planners and have the whole week planned out for dinners. If we are cooking meat we will cook double and use the left over meat for the next meal with a salad or a simple veggie side so it makes dinner super easy.
Help! First time homeschool mom here with PTSD and high functioning anxiety and depression. I know homeschooling is something I want to do but I'm unsure I will be able to do it. I need extra tips as I am really unsure about everything
Thanks for sharing this video, love the kids plates/bowls where they can reach them! What was the Bible version your son was using? Also, very curious how you juggle homeschooling AND working! What is your job that allows you the flexibility?
Love it! :) We moved here from WA so we went from big trees and green everywhere to no trees and brown mountains but its a different kind of beauty. Thanks for subbing!
When i have a child I'm going to teach them so much more than a school, of course my girlfriend will have to help me out (i have moderate autism and though she's a bit younger than me and has autism too she only has high functioning autism and is definitly smarter than me) I'll teach the kid things like reading, nature, proper english, history, and science while my girlfriend teaches them math and all of those boring things that she's better at than me. We're going to teach our kid visually since both me and her are visual learning but we also think it'll be easier for the kid to know what they're doing if they see it, we're going to make sure it's fun for our kid and make sure that they get as much help as they need, they have to parents instead of one teacher to help them :) Oh and since there's a very high chance our child will have special needs we're there to help them all the way, especially since me and my girlfriend are special needs people too
That's a great question! It is a family decision but yes, if your family is willing to do something non-traditional you have the option of schooling any time of day.
I'm a homeschooling mama of 3 and I have been not working out at all since we started back in July with school and you've inspired me to just do it in the morning outside while the kids play. I'll start tomorrow and see how it goes! Thank you so much for showing us a glimpse in your life.

This was great, Heather! I was homeschooled my entire education. In my junior year of high school I went to college a year early. My wife and I now homeschool our three boys.

How cute that they still love the garbage truck. Bring back memories. ❤️
Yep! It's the little things :)
Hi! I am a new homeschool mother, here in Philadelphia, PA. My 5 year old daughter, Rosie will be starting Kindergarten on tomorrow, Sept. 4th. We most certainly enjoyed your GREAT, organized morning routine! 👍😀👍😄👍😄👍😃

YES! We like to say that homeschooling is our lifestyle which means it will change as our life changes. :) Glad this video helped you!

Fun! :) I feel like every year I grow more confident in this journey.
I love the exercises you chose
Thanks for watching! :) I mix it up to keep my body guessing. :)
Home school for free, meaning no school records from the Department of Education nor report cards?

Heather Torres This is our 2nd year, officially, my son is in 2nd grade. I really loved how you started the homeschool day with the 3 things they are thankful for, I think it's great because this will shape their thinking in life.
I think gratitude is SOOOO important. If at the very least I hope they can grasp that message. :) What style of homeschooling do you do?

Hi and welcome! :) Thanks for watching. I'm trying to commit to doing several more routine videos for this year as our routine has of course changed (life of motherhood right?? always changing!) So with the new year I'll be posting a new video.
I love your routine I might try this routine to.
Nice! I'm glad this video helped :)
Amazing video! Do you have a video on your work/homeschool life balance?? I'm so curious how you fit it all in! (And how much sleep you get) haha

I never see a video from homeschool with kids struggle maybe mines its the only ones!🤣😢😭😭
Oh we struggle too Crystal! I just want to respect my kiddos and their emotions so we've chosen not to publicly share their tantrums and misbehavior :) But it happens.... all ... the .... time! They're kids! :)
Love it , thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great video hun, we have the kids bowls and plates where they can get them themselves it's amazing :) Thankful Journal is an AMAZING idea I think I will have to start using that. New sun here I'm going to go and have a gander through your more up to date videos :) Hannah x
WOW! Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it ;)
I am so glad to have found this channel.
Just subscribed! :)I'm a stay at home homeschool mom of a 3 year old. Excited to watch all your other videos!
Thanks for watching and welcome. We are a wonderful community of moms here so let me know if you have any questions! :)
Help! First time homeschool mom here with PTSD and high functioning anxiety and depression. I know homeschooling is something I want to do but I'm unsure I will be able to do it. I need extra tips as I am really unsure about everything
You might want to check out Time4Learning.
I want to teach my kids at home.
Thanks for sharing this video, love the kids plates/bowls where they can reach them! What was the Bible version your son was using? Also, very curious how you juggle homeschooling AND working! What is your job that allows you the flexibility?
What Bible is your son flipping through on this video? It looks kid friendly and with large print and colors.
This was simple and inspiring. You three are darling. Thank you! What time do you get up in order to leave at 6:30am?
I could recognize those mountains anywhere. :-) subbed.
We're going to teach our kid visually since both me and her are visual learning but we also think it'll be easier for the kid to know what they're doing if they see it, we're going to make sure it's fun for our kid and make sure that they get as much help as they need, they have to parents instead of one teacher to help them :)
Oh and since there's a very high chance our child will have special needs we're there to help them all the way, especially since me and my girlfriend are special needs people too
You are so sweet, I want a friend like you! Where do I start home schooling?
Hi and welcome! I have a video here on how to get started. :) There are lots of ways to go about it and in the video I walk you through the basics.
Great tips!!! I really love your channel!❤️✨
what if your mom works in the day...can she still homeschool her child (15 years old)
That's a great question! It is a family decision but yes, if your family is willing to do something non-traditional you have the option of schooling any time of day.
My son this year is doing the K12 and he is 12
