This was the best diy tutorial I have come across. I just finished my shield and man it is literally night and day difference. I bought this shield knowing the trigger was going to be a problem for me and I’m so glad I bought the spring kit and followed this wonderful guide. My internal parts are mirror finished and I took the time to do the feed ramp while I was at it. Thank you MCARBO. For those who are reading, I found ordering the extra 10pk of the sand paper really came in handy if your parts have excessive sharp corners like mine. Follow the guide you will not be disappointed.
I just did this to my 2.0 9mm , I did it all step by step . WOW what a difference, the trigger feels like a real trigger now . You can feel the wall and a clean break . Reset is quick . Pretty damn amazing what a difference for a few bucks and some time . Now I just need to replace the trigger shoe and she’s ready!
2023 I’m old school with an M&P .45c I bought the spring kit/polish and followed the video. Very satisfied with the result! Light and smooth! Two slight differences in my model: The Safety cap under the rear sight was a flat disc so a little more troublesome to reassemble. The more difficult issue for me was the sear spring and metal top that rides under the sear was about 1/3 the diameter of the video. So I used the OEM spring on that and had a devil of a time getting it back into the tiny hole beneath the sear. I recommend tweezers and a pair of reading glasses! I didn’t polish as long as the video, I think the sanding the trigger bar and safety stop was worth it though. Thanks for an affordable upgrade!
I've been using Mcarbo parts for past few years, This is the best they test and make sure every part functions to perfection. The videos are indepth and very informative. I'M A CERTIFIED GUNSMITH AND LICENSED FFL DEALER. I only use parts I trust and I like. I recommend Mcarbo to all my customers if parts are available, I have Mcarbo parts in my personal guns as well. The M&P 9mm is my next one to do since it's stock and want to upgrade it. And as a side note customers can see Mcarbo parts for themselves and not me just recommending it
This was my first try with doing a trigger upgrade, I had a M&P Shield 9mm and purchased a M&P 40 and the trigger felt harsh and gritty compared to the Shield, so I got ordered and installed this kit with the polishing, now I am going to have to get a kit for the Shield, what a difference this kit makes. Thank You for an awesome product and the video with your enthusiasm is great.
I recently purchased a 2.0 compact and was initially disappointed in the trigger out of the box especially after seeing many videos touting the great improvement of the 2.0 trigger so planned to do this but went ahead and fired a hundred dollars of hardball through it , (2 boxes) which went by too quickly , and I'm glad I did . The trigger now is a perfect duty trigger for me .
Another really impressive instructional video. Great camera work! Just ordered this kit for my M&P Shield 45, can't wait to do the work. Thanks M*Carbo for making this an easy to do task! Stay safe...Ron J.
Just received this and installed it in my m&p 2.0. All I can say is my gun shoots amazing now!!! It smooth and crisp and I don't have a single complaint about this kit! Thanks for an amazing product and it cheap as shit! One note for everyone that if u have a safety switch on your take note on how it comes apart.
Just finished my kit install for my M&P 45. A few things guys. My 45 has an ambidextrous safety. So, when you pull that apart be prepared to make a guide pin to get it back together. I used a piece of TIG welding rod and beveled the edges to let it guide out the pin holes better. Also, the sear spring in my kit was too big so I never go to put that in my gun. The original sear pin spring was quite a bit smaller in diameter. I polished and added the new MCarbo springs and the trigger is better, not mind blowing, but better. Over all I am happy but I did have to overcome a few differences from this video.
To make things faster with the striker safety, i put it in a drill chuck. Spun it on the 1000 grit paper. Worked so fast, i moved up a few times to 3000 grit.
I got the spring kit for my M&P.40 and used my bench grinder with a felt wheel and some jewelers rouge to do the polishing. Also installed an Apex polymer trigger while I was at it. It's like a different gun. Awesome trigger now!
Awesome guide, it helped me with replacing a drop-in trigger (no springs change) and a green dot installation, very well made, my M&P40c looks amazing, thanks!
Love all your videos! Your spring kit for my Sub 2K and my RDB were great. Even though I do not have some of the firearms for which you produce videos, I love them because they improve my gun smithing!. Thank you, brother!
Fantastic video. Will be ordering the spring kit for my M&P .45 as mine is so gritty I was going to get rid of it. Looking forward to doing the trigger job on mine. Thanks again for the fantastic video.
Great video. Saved my butt big time when I was putting the striker safety guide back in and trying to work the sight at the same time. My M&P 9 did not have a little post for the spring to sit on and trying to balance that cover with a loaded spring and hit the sights back in was not fun. Love how thorough your videos are! Made this work super easy (besides what I mentioned, and that was NOT your fault)! Can't wait to buy more of your products for my other firearms. God bless!
Good work. And at 43: "way too expensive" for mass production. No, it is not. There are several plating and electropolishing shops within a few miles of the New S&W world headquarters. Some of the trigger bars I have examined still have the original stamping shear surface on the Cam Lobe. Rough as a cob. Get with it S&W.
I cleaned up my 2.0 Compact trigger with 300 rounds down range. Key friction points cleaned up everything smooth as "butter" The benefit from going that route is unmodified trigger on edc. Now If S&W made OEM trigger upgrade avaliable for my specific firarm , I might give it try
The Apex ultimate safety plunger didn’t have any burs(it looks like Apex used a dry film lubricant coating on it) it’s flawless but I’m still gonna polish it with your kit. I’m also gonna polish the SH*T out of my trigger bar and I’m even gonna polish inside the slide where the plunger safety sits. Thanks again dude.
I have the upgraded sear block assembly, an Apex Tactical RAM,and a full Apex Tactical AEK aluminum trigger kit on my full-size 1.0. I’m gonna try your kit on my friends gun. The Stock M&P 1.0 trigger sucks.
Slide is not completely disassembled 🤪 but great video as always! Mcarbo has quality parts kits and fantastic video tutorials!!! If you are competent with tools then you can do these installations yourself as long as you follow the directions on the videos.
This video was helpful until I was reassembled my m&p 2.0. Maybe make a updated video with the 2.0. The takedown lever was an issue and another part on the trigger assembly wasn't in the video so I had everything assembled and then had another part left over. So it was frustrating lol other than that great video
I opted for a 2 day defensive handgun course over the spring kit. After 2 days and a thousand rounds or so my trigger was buttery smooth. If you plan on shooting 50-100 rounds a year and not carrying the gun then the spring kit is a decent option.
This kit didn't work for me. I watched the video as I followed the steps to install the spring kit. I ran into a problem installing the parts back into the frame. The trigger spring tool was too wide and I had to cut it down to be able to complete the trigger spring assemble to frame installation. I didn't do as much polishing on the parts as the video showed, but I did do some polishing of the striker, sear and trigger bar. My trigger pull was about 6 lbs before installing the upgrade kit and the trigger pull is about 6 lbs after the installation was completed. The first movement of the trigger now has a sticky spot. I am not sure what went wrong with the installation. I have the California version of the S&W M&P SHIELD with the thumb safety. I have been shooting for 50+ years and have worked on my Colt .45 several times. What do you recommend I do to fix the trigger pull weight? NOT HAPPY!
I really appreciate the video. I'm grabbing an m&p 2.0 when I can find one near by and I've been wondering how to work over the trigger. Also, could you turn the exposure down or use maybe and fde table cloth or something? I can't make out much of the up close work.
great video. my m&p 2.0 9mm polymer frame has a different (i'm going to call it) sear pin actuator, I small separate piece that fits right next to the sear on the sear pin, and a different trigger bar. I'm just wondering if there is anything else that can be done to those pieces to also go alone with the things you show in the video. thanks
I have an early 1st gen M&P 40c - my sear spring is of a much smaller diameter, probably half of what is shown. Was there a change in the sear block housing to accommodate a larger spring and follower/plunger? I did the full kit, except for the sear spring.
I found that the early 1st gen did have a different sear block housing - using a smaller diameter sear spring. The spring included in the kit will NOT work w/ this housing.
I did the same ... This is my first and only .40c so it’s become almost like family now... The plunger and spring are extremely small so I put them back into place...
Hey, just finished putting this kit in my m&p9 2.0 before I did it my trigger was 5.5lbs after polishing and spring swap I'm now at 5.0lbs is this normal? Is there something I maybe didnt polish enough?

Thinking pairing this spring kit with an apex trigger. Anyone try the apex spring kit??
You lost me at the dremel tool and polishing trigger surfaces. See to many mushy triggers from a polished sear and striker. Maybe I'm wrong but stones are the only tool I use on the sear and striker/hammer. A small amount of friction isn't always a bad thing when your looking for a crisp break free of any creep
Is reliability compromised with lighter striker spring? It’s this recommended for competition guns only of for carry guns also?

Yeah, it depends on the type of feeling you're going for. The friction causes a noticeable amount of "grit" in the trigger, if you smooth down any burrs will make the trigger feel more crisp. But the springs tend to be the lion share of weight through the pull weight.
