Hello Hello sa credits 12 ang bilang ko na original pinoy cast...Junix Inocian, Lyon Roque and Michael Williams. Junix later naging Engineer sya. Under study sya for that role. Si Michael Williams is under study same role ni Robert S, now he's a producer Eraserheads Huling El Bimbo play...then si Lyon Roque is a product of UP repertory co.

Add Bobby Martino and Miguel Diaz. From what I remember, there were a total of 16 Filipinos in the original London Cast.

This is how you make a masterpiece. You combine all the best talents who love their craft. Work on their parts again, and again, and again. Put it all together in the way that is closest to perfection. Then do it all again the next day.

Had marathon part 1-5 because I got nothing to do and did not regret it. So proud of the cast and crews!! 💓

May 13, 2019 my first time to watch the making of miss saigon and it really makes me proud being Filipino because of Lea and the rest of Filipino artist in the original Miss Saigon. Wow.
1:25 Yes. I saw this in NY and there were men still sitting in their chairs after it was over crying. Saw it again in DC and witnessed the same. Very powerful.
My very istime watching Miss Saigon was in London June 2014, really blown away with genius team and even bawling my eyes out. And now June 2019 via youtube still doesnt get any better, what a masterpiece! 👌🏻

jazzbacz28 . it's now on broadway in NY and it will tour several cities in 2018. I saw it last week in NY and I think it's great. Maybe better than the original, except Leah is not there, but Eva Noblezada is very good also. Jon Jon as the engineer is also great in the roll.

Why most Filipinos always talk about accent. She talks like her own,she is professional & talented on her own she is an example of a Filipina grew up in a perfect way nurturing and a lovable sweet child that every parents can dream.Kudos to the parents ,they’re lucky and blessed.

I have heard rumors of a film version. Apparently, Cameron had said he would look into a film adaptation if Les Mis did well in the box office (and of course it did). Watching this documentary makes me fall in love with this show and gain a whole new respect for the amazing talent that is Lea!! :)

1985 or 1986- forgot the exact year this debut in West End. I still have the cassette recordings of the music which we have to content ourselves and play the story in our minds with what few pictures we can find. This is such a sad and disturbing story, I was in a state of melancholy for a while. I didn't want to listen but the hauntingly beautiful music kept drawing me to listen. It is sad, very sad when dreams of love and better future are dashed to pieces, and you are alone to cope as best you could where it seemed not a ray of hope was in sight. This play draws out every human emotion, even hope and happiness as fleeting as it was for Kim. And for every Kim out there, for Chris and all the other characters, too whose life we may identify as part of us, there is hope, a hope built and rooted in The Lord Jesus.
i have the same feeling. the music and the story have been haunting me for years. I just went to West End to see the new production, it's a great remake but I just feel something is missing there. Kim is great, engineer is great too but I feel that Chris and Helen are not in the right condition... or in the right place. feeling a bit disapointted as I am a big fan for this piece. After seeing the video, I know now how difficult it is to put things together so the original production is indeed a miracle, that things were right and everything was just perfect.
Opening night for Miss Saigon in London was September 20, 1989.
When the curtain went down & they all started jumping and celebrating, I got emotional. Not gonna lie.
This is a lot of effort and hard work and perseverance to all cast and crew and producers!

I've known for long about Ms. Lea Salonga being the Miss Saigon, i think since when I'm in my grade school days but this is the very first time I am able or have watched it. Thanks a lot! I enjoyed it so much. Truly grateful. 😊

Jonathan Pryce was the perfect engineer for the early version and Jon Jon is perfect for the much edgier modern version now imo

Who are those people hiding at the back in 4:07? I also find keith burns to be the best and most underrated thuy, his harmonizations in this is the hour sound really good. It's nice to see a bit of footage of his performance.

indian army Lea was the first and original Miss Saigon.
Lea originated the lead role of Kim in Miss Saigon both in West End and in Broadway. She won both the Laurence Olivier award in UK and Tony award in US for best actress in a musical.

Yes. Unusually for the time, people protested that decision, and it eventually led to better casting choices. Re: yellow-face, the Engineer is supposed to be bi-racial (Euro-French father, Vietnamese mother) and Pryce (a white guy) was phenomenal in the role, but they should have skipped the (offensive) "Asian-eye" prosthetics: if they were going to cast a white man, they should have left his eyes alone.
Not really, The Engineer was supposed to be Eurasian and not Asian. Look at beauty pageants and see how half white/half Asian looks like. They don't look Asian. Actually, Kim's son should not look Asian but also mixed having a white father.
@@sparklemotion1018 Many Caucasians are not exposed to half white half Asian look. I am exposed to it so I know that Eurasians and even Amerasians or Austrolasians etc have fairer skin, bigger eyes, and higher nose bridges. Sometimes it is not obvious they have Asian blood like that actor who was half Filipino and half white Jew--Rod Schneider.

isurelybelieve actually his wife is Isay Alvarez (the one who played Gigi) in this run.
There's a very real chance that it's coming back, they just had auditions in Manila. Not sure when it will be though!

true, Jonathan Pryce did.
Pryce was an established British star at the time while Lea was "unknown," so he got top billing.. but Lea became an instant worldwide star when the West End production opened. When I saw the revival, I was amused to see that the child who played Tam came out at the end to bow with Jon Jon, so technically a kid got the final bow.
Yah I recently saw it in New York with Eva just before it closed and The Engineer got the last bow in that as well, it didn't really make sense to me:/

Miss Saigon is a love story that happen during Vietnam-American war between an American soldier and a Vietnamese local so the guy needs to be white and the girl should be Asian.
They are talking about the Engineer.
@@tinmendez4121 I mean, the Engineer, yeah. He is as much white as he is Asian. But the character Thuy is completely Asian and was also played by a white actor. They really should have found an Asian actor to play him at least.
