Asian women generally have softer and more delicate facial features compared to western women. That's why they tend to look younger than western women at the same age. This applies to men too.

It really tickles me that when they search for Asians in any role on Broadway or Hollywood, they go to London and New York; and not Asia. Glad they finally went to Manila and found Lea Salonga.

@@Crawlingdreams418 I didn't know about the Christina thing, but I do know that DIsney doesn't look down on her. My mom works for Disney and is a Disney Ambassador and works a lot of events with celebrities. She worked D23 in which they made Lea a Disney Legend about 10 years ago. My mom was instructed by all the higher-ups to treat this woman as a QUEEN. They didn't induct Christina as a Legend until the last few years and she was not treated with the same respect, bordering on reverence, that Lea was. I just think it's silly to jump straight to assuming it is a snub or they look down on her. The Disney company loves her, she regularly does BIG TIME Disney events such as Candlelight (a big deal and HUGE honor) and Christina is not invited do so. It could just be that Christina saught Disney out and asked to do it, and Lea didn't.

If they were speaking Taglog, their Filipino accent would be on. Then when they went back to English, their accent would still be on. If I mentioned it to them, they could turn it off and speak with an American accent immediately. It was like turning on a light on and off (was instant). BTW, I totally agree that their are many talented Filipinos.

robin212212 it’s not her “loss” if there wasn’t even an income in the first place. And I think geronimo’s point was that the show could and probably would make more money, become more sensational, and be part of the amazing culture that is Lea Salonga if she was considered for the roles. Since it happened long before Lea’s career sky rocketed, I think we’re all safe to assume that it’s clearly their loss, and not Lea’s. If only they’d knew Lea would be this iconic, they wouldn’t have made the mistake of letting her pass. :) ciao!

The thing is she really was discriminated for being Asian. That was why she thanked the Actor's Equity, for letting her play the role of Kim in Broadway because they initially refused because is not an American.

@@marap4107 that's true but Lea almost didn't make it to Broadway because of Actor's Equity. Back then, Asian actors in Broadway was not a thing. Remember, Jonathan Pryce is not Asian but played an Asian role as the Engineer in Miss Saigon and won a Tony for it.
