    I agree Man' The Evo is Legendary in my opinion! It's my main board that will cover 90% of conditions, effortless speed and endless fun. I have a 5'5 Timbertek & 5'3 Helium. I recommend a 2+1 setup too with the Evo, My Evo's are FCS2 & the Mark Richards Twin fin +1 template goes like a dream, Mark Richards has just released this template finally in Futures too, the blue and black ones, give them a try. it will make the board sing.. Nice surfing by the way & greetings from the Sunshine Coast Australia

    I concur!...I love this board. I bought one, a 5'3 in helium construction, 27l, about a month ago as my first short board and have just clicked with it yesterday after 4 sessions. Such a joy! I came from a 9'1 longboard, tried a 6'4 fish I couldn't duck dive, then this board... it's fab. At 53 I thought I best try to learn to short board ASAP and am not disappointed at all with my choice. Love the blunt nose too. Can't wait to get out in the water again with it.

      @@robcampbell8383 HI Rob, I'm between 70-75kgs and 178 cm tall. It's taken me about 10 sessions to get to stay on more than I fall off, but I love it.
      I have an Almond r-series secret menu too... it's 5'4 in length and fairly wide, much more of a groveller, but TBH, while it was fun for a couple of sessions, and v low maintenance, I'm going to be using the EVO all the time for a while, unless I'm at a rocky and shallow break or it's a definite longboard day. I hope you find the right EVO for you.

    Got my first evo in 2014 and I’ve literally rode them ever since in all wave types and size ranges from 1 ft to 8 ft+.
    If you ride it all the time then you can learn how to control it in bigger hollower surf .
    The hollower it gets means you just have to rely on the rails more than the fins if that makes sense?
    It’s the best bord for airs , it rotates super easily and you never have to worry about landing awkwardly on a pointy nose.
    You can still order custom evos from Tomos factory in Lennox head they are more pricey but you can opt for just the 3 fin boxes rather than the standard 5 fin boxes from FireWire which shaves off a little weight and extra drag.
    Tomos resin does not discolour like the FireWire boards either which is a bonus.
    I feel the the only down side to an evo is you never want to go back to a traditional short board again.

    Nice surfing! I had one, not for long , I didn't like it. I much prefer my Cymatic. The Evo is too lateral, and I did only surf it as a quad. I surf with quads 90% of the time. I first started riding quads in the 80's and love them for the most part. One thing I particularly didn't like about the Evo was it felt like it pushed water when you first stood up, until after that first pump. Once you got it going though, very fast. Not a bad board at all, just there are better boards for me.

    Evo was ground breaking! I still have one that I surf occasionally and a 23 litre Evo that I use for Kitesurfing.
    The Evo is not a groveler. I find it best in shoulder to well overhead range.
    On the little Evo I regularly kite really big surf in really high wind. The design will deal with way more speed and power than what you get from surfing.
    Tomo's Modern Planning Hulls are the forerunners to so many boards on the market now that run a parallel rail line.

    • @surfingtipsandtricks
      @surfingtipsandtricks  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree about the rail lines and kiteboards; standing wave surfers favour that plane shape, too👍 for me, it's the best groveler I have ever surfed! I can get speed and do turns on close to nothing. Wow, you surf it in well overhead. I find it a bit loose for that. Respect to you 🤙

    Still fairly unexperienced on the topic, but my current daily driver is a 5'6 Sweet Potato. Worked out really well helping me in the transition from a 8'0 foamie and I just love this board as it allowed me to stay in the water no matter what.
    Now I started to feeling it a bit oversized and whenever I want to attack the face a bit more vertical I end up catching the nose because the nose is pretty wide (I think it is something like 22 inches wide).
    My next daily driver will be a SubXero by JS, in Carbotune: I got a 5'5, slightly under the 20 inches wide. It comes with 29 litres, which should be my correct "grovel" range. It will be challenging for sure having almost 10 litres less, but I just cannot wait to see how it will go.
    But the EVO will be my final goal: I loved the board from the first time I've seen one and I want to try it out myself so hard. I will consider getting the DarkArts version from Boardshop, those guys are great (already purchased from them).
    Thanks for this amazing video, watching an EVO flying around is always magical to me.

    • @surfingtipsandtricks
      @surfingtipsandtricks  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @robcampbell8383 Thank you🙏 That is a 5’6” 32.2L. It was the only one in the shop so I didnt have much choice. I'm 5’11” 78kg. It depends on how paddle-fit you are. I paddled it yesterday and wouldn't want it to be any thinner😂 but I am a little out of shape and only surf a couple of times a week @ the moment. When I was younger, I could ride little slippers with no problem.
      But from my experience with the Evo, you can ride it longer, and it will still be loose. If you are super fit and paddling a thin board isn't a problem, go smaller. The Helium construction seems more buoyant, so that's something to consider. Mine is an LFT.
      It's tricky to prioritise volume and length, eh?
      I ordered a Revo a few days ago and decided to go for the 5’7” 31.4L. After paddling the Evo yesterday, I am worried that I should have gotten the 5’8” 33L. So I'm hoping I can paddle it when it arrives 😂🤞🤙

    • @surfingtipsandtricks
      @surfingtipsandtricks  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thanks🙏 I don't have that issue; are you lying far enough forward? You have to pretend that there is an invisible pointy nose at the end of the board's plan shape. If you are lying just a little too far back, I think what you describe would be the result. Let me know🤙

    I there, can I ask you with your experience, if the Evo is a good surfboard for low intermediate level (weekend warrior), for a family guy, 45 yrs and 70 kgs? Or it’s only for good surfers?
    I was considering to buy a second hand with 39 lts (5.10), because my normal/confortable volume is 41 lts.
    Maybe for this model, 39 lts is to big and will fill a boat and will not work ??

      Hi Marco, I think it will be fine and won't feel like a boat; considering your ability, the volume will be helpful. It's such a loose and fast board.
