ha I've seen this a lot over the past few years. shaper puts out a sorta almost mid length and the promo vid is team riders riding the 6'3" like a big shortboard
@@a.lame.username. Yes, that's why for normal people you can't call this thing a midlenght, just look at dims and shape, this board will be way too fast and uncontrollable at a real midlenght size IMO, exactly like riding an oversized mph.
The revo kept me in the game! It kept me on a small board at 60! 50 years of surfing, and my absolute favorite board! But it's time, and just as I was starting to look at mid lengths, someone at my local shop told me about this. Trading in my 6'4 ghost, that pretty much is just gathering dust in my garage in South Florida and so looking forward to getting my hands on the Revo Max!
Just picked up a 6'9 yesterday and surfed it this am in mushy shoulder high plus waves. So far it's a winner. Paddles into waves extremely well and once up and going it's surprisingly nimble and quick for its size. I only surfed backside, can't wait to get some frontside waves on it. I read a few reviews saying it's got a snowboard carvey feel and I totally agree. I'm really excited to get it dialed with more surfs but this is a big winner for me so far.
I have the 6’9 as well and came to the same thought, Closest thing to a snowboard I’ve evert surfed. Total blast. Board is amazing in the quiver between a hpsb and groveler/mid length. Hard not to take it out.
Surprised no talk about the bottom contours. I'm assuming it's the planning hull with quad inside single concave? I'm sure the bottom concaves compliment the twin fin set up. Would love to demo one.
Think it’s the same vee bottom he put in the revo and Vader v2 - which definitely has a different feel from the QISC bottoms. I’m keen to demo one of these myself to see how it goes
question! on sizing for a revo mid length, do you recommend going with more foam than you can duck dive a good wave? is it that kind of mid length where you don't want to be sitting inside or does it still serve its purpose if you size it at a volume where you can push it under a good wave and then still have it paddle early into the next wave.
is this a step-up or a midlength. The promotion on this has been a bit confusing. I'm guessing it's kind of both, if my experience with Tomo's is anything to go by. But still, it's not entirely clear, if they're trying to attract people who are ardent Tomo afficionados.
I rode one and it paddles like a dream, and it was easy to catch anything I wanted. Once up it feels like a smaller high performance board but with the twin keels you get that glide and ability to style. Super cool board I want to buy one! Love Tomo boards, this will be my 4th. .
@@FluidMotionPictures So would it complement a cymatic or too much overlap? I usually ride 29-30 ltrs and am trying to decide if the 6'0 or 6'3 is the call. 180lbs advanced surfer but in my 40s
@ i have a cymatic also and I ride a 28 liters. Yes I think its a good compliment and i rode a 6’6 and I loved it. Advanced surfer also in 40’s female 130lbs. Not bad, but even thinner tail. rounded pin. you pivot off the tail, plain and simple. You want it skinny in the tail - plain and simple. @5:13 - that maneuver is called "taming the chandalier"
@@Ehllo_Mello - idk, I just think the overall shape is nice, though I seem to have a pref toward pin/rounded pin. I like pin on my 6'10" (and yes, I know it)

And agree with comments you should be discussing (and have footage of) the bigger sizes if you’re calling it a mid length.
Wrong. The long rider was worse….video had a guy trying to ride it like a short board, using rake fins in junk surf. Crap video for trying to sell a board
Promotes: Mid Length. Rides: 6'0 @ 31L. Makes total sense. Firewires VP of Marketing should get promoted to CEO.

Reality check . He normally rides a 5' and a bit length and 4 or more liters less volume. A 31 litre 6 footer is a full on mid length for him!
@@a.lame.username. A 5'7 revo would be around the same volume as this 6'0 max. Guess he wanted to try some think longer & narrower.

what your weight/height?
6’2 x185

Stoked for a longer tomo board, love the revo, hate proper midlengths.
🤞🏻 this is the halfway house
good to see daniel back in the water. dude was ripping buckets in the early 2010s!
I've been waiting for this one for a while. I hope some of these show up in Bali.
Tomo's the man, welcome back!
Looks amazing! A bad injury is so tough in so many ways! You made it back 🙏 You're ripping on the thing!🤙
Would be nice to see it ridden at actual midlength dimensions rather than what is essentially still a shortboard
Board is super fun!
Isn't it kind of a cop out to say "goes well in lined-up point breaks"
That's pumping Lennox!
2:01 “minimalism” then proceeds to create the craziest concaves and tails that man has ever seen
Also with the most complex construction
FireWire videos are full of contradictions 😂
Sick video man
Ok, it’s a cool board, and I'll most likely buy a 6'3" but...what about the old Revo?
Was just thinking yesterday what the mad scientist would be up to next.
6.0 31ltrs ! Hardly a mid length
How does it compare to the submoon?
Nice mini-mall.
Mini mals don't have quantum physics-based concaves planing hulls, plus his height, this is a log
@@Ehllo_Mello If its got a mini-mall plan shape its a mini-mall, regardless of it's hull contours it will be a blob in some waves.

I too like doing really cool things.
They should have made this in a 5 fin set up, some people would prefer a quad or thruster.
5 fin setups are for people that can't surf. Twin fins in particular, have the fins in very different places.

The Cymatic is my favourite board ever. But, the quad concave on a V is just magical!

Feel like they are a little late on the twin mid bandwagon. Most people have dabbled already by now and realised 3 fin mids go better.
Wrong
Looks like a slow performance crippler, maybe that's where the mid length synergy is?
So this “mid-length” works great for top 3% level surfers in pumping waves recovering from knee surgery.
Why not make this board with a quad fin set up?
