I love how Syntel explains the scene where Ranbir and his greatuncle ( I think) are playing some instruments in the studio as a Snake Charmer calming down a very dangerous animal. I sometimes wonder how Syntel gets things from his perspectives and I agree almost most of the time. I never had thought about that scene from such an angle. Syntel is an OP guy..

I am absolutely loving this movie! Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri are doing a fantastic job portraying their characters. It's also great to see the late Shammi Kapoor in one of his final performances. The music and cinematography are top-notch as well. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Syntell, you definitely got Indian ears.
Rockstar has been my favorite movie of last decade. And having a GREAT music direction is a big part of it. A R Rahman has done something magical in this movie.
This movie is a musical masterpiece by A.R. Rahman and Mohit Chauhan. Ranbir K. beautifully projected the real feeling of this musical fest on the camera..

Nargis was a poor casting imo. And some poor editing did the harm as well. Otherwise, this is a masterpiece made which couldn't end as one in theatres. Feels sad looking at how Ranbir's work and music didn't achieve what they should have just because of the box office performance.
They keep saying Nargis looks so fine in the movie bla bla, probably why they cast her. But her acting is BADDDD. Probably why I can't bring myself to watch the movie again because she's so so terrible.
Cant ignore the fact.
The reason I prefer Steph and Achara for such movies is that they understand or value the emotions better along with other aspects of the movie but you guys just go the with plot and the actions. This movie is much more than that.

Heyy Syntel did good. From what I've watched for almost 5 years on this channel, Jaby's taste lies more in movies filled with action and graphics, and stories that require more surface level to medium level thinking, rather than deep thinking. So yeah, for the story and music that Rockstar offered, he may not seem fit to react. But let's watch part 3 and the discussion to come to a conclusion.
The instrument that old man is playing is called "Shehnai" and snake charmer play "Been" both have different shapes but sound is quite similler.shehnai is a classical instrument and been belongs to folk music
One of the best AR rahman albums of all time. Every song is a gem.

@cineDesi a couple things - you can only get the full impact of his journey when understanding the shrine. It's not a spiritual retreat - it's an actual shrine; and him going there is because he is essentially homeless with nowhere to go.
The "langar" or communal kitchen serves as almost the equivalent of a soup kitchen. The idea is that he is isolated and left alone but he is in the presence of God - where he can get shelter and food. His contribution to place of God? Music.
The realization he has a couple of times in the song is his realization that the emotional depth or "pain" he has been trying to achieve is finally there and that his gift or way to give back is through his music. It's why while performing the service, he realizes this and leaves. The director Imtiaz Ali does really well with these poetic narratives and the symbolism here is that.
But keep in mind, the reason why he is a totally different person from when he comes back from there is because he has lived as a homeless person and when everything is stripped away he still has his music - which is why he focuses on that from there.

They won't enjoy this movie..i am almost sure! Music plays a huge role in this movie. I doubt as an outsider they would be able to connect to the soul and the music of this movie..i have been watching Jaby since his beginning and by now can predict his likings/reactions. Hopefully i am wrong this time and they enjoy the movie..

Look even as an Indian I found the movie very long. Yes there are things I love about this film but has its flaws I must admit. But again I cannot deny there are very amazing scenes with very deep symbolism and messages behind it but on the other end some scenes between Jordan and heer get tiresome. But again I think I can say I love this film, if I was making it I would just edit the film a little shorter
