I wish you watched this with Syntell who's incredible at understanding nuances and artistic expressions. He understood Rockstar better than any indian reviewer. Plz make him watch Tamasha too.
Honestly its weird though. Why so many reactors on the channel? I feel like all of them should watch everything. I also want an achara and steph reaction to Rockstar
Here's a prediction. Jaby will love this film, and Achara and Syntell will also react to this movie some time in the future. We may have to wait for months or years for it though. Lol
The town in the fashback is Shimla. It is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh state, in the midst of the Himalayas. The movie name Tamasha means Theatre / Play. It's the story about story telling, about living a fantasy life, about not knowing who you truly are, and doing what others say you are meant to do all your life. Something most Indians would be able to relate to. Ranbir was acting like Don (Amitabh Bachchan) and then Dev Anand (another legendary actor) when he was acting all quirky in Corsica at the beginning. Another important point I feel, when you are on holiday, especially to a exotic location like Corsica, you don't want to be anything like you are in your otherwise mundane life back in India, so you can understand why Ranbir would play that "only lies, no truth" game. He was lucky that Deepika went for it though. I can see why many girls would just not want to take that risk in a foreign land. Keep watching!
This is one of my all time favourite Hindi movies. It’s complex, it’s creative, outstanding music, exceptional performances, and it’s heart is rooted in Indian culture. The contrast between Corsica and Delhi is so beautifully captured. I’ve seen this film countless times and every time I found a new reason to love it even more.
OMG FINALLY 😀😀😀 Please consider watching *Highway* too, another movie directed by Imtiaz Ali the year before Tamasha. It was Ali Bhatt's second movie. I think it may be best suited to Andrew and/or Achara.
The lines spoken by the leads in their initial pretense meet-cute ranges from stereotypical lines used in Indian movies to mimicking Dev Anand (which RK did a fantastic job of) and it also tries to break free from the usual Bollywood romance that is about a coy girl and a bold guy. This movie has a lot of soul despite some things that might not work for many.
This movie is full of nuance and metaphor, the story within story and how we pretend to be happy while inner soul wants something else, had to be the best movie which change my perspective of thinking.
