Great list. I just got one of the new AD-15 LITEs and it's pretty cool (if a few bucks too expensive.) I agree that Cold Steel making "Lite" versions of their best designs is one of the best things they can do. Hope they continue to be awesome moving forward.
I agree! The AD15 LITE is one helluva robust, solid and sharp knife! IMHO, the Scorpion lock is much easier to disengage than the esteemed TriAd lock. Has anyone tested the strength of the Scorpion lock compared to the TriAd lock? Obviously the "variable" would be how tight the user grips the Scorpion lock.
I eyed up the Code 4 for a year and I finally picked one up 2 weeks ago and it's so much better than what I thought it be, and I thought it'd be pretty good. Total win, such good build quality, handsome good looks and that beautiful slicy tanto blade.
Absolutely love my RECON-1. I modified the scales on mine so it is perfect for me. I use that "mini BOWIE" knife every single day. Never have to worry about lock up and it does everything I ask of it. It's easy to take apart and clean. Best $100.00 I ever spent on something I use daily. Wish now they would make 'em with up graded steel. Best knife you can buy for the price. Great video Brother. Thanks.

You made me feel lucky in that I have the same knives only all earlier models... (XHP or Hollow Ground etc) and the Italian 4-Max. My order is a bit different (this week) One that keeps rising to the the top for me is a grey stripped and polished Broken Skull. Look forward to your Spyderco and Benchmade Videos. Interesting to see different perspectives...
I loved my Code 4 until I had to use it for more than a minute one day cutting card board. I found that it is too skinny for my hands and started digging in. The AD 10 does NOT have that issue. Code 4 is still an amazing knife, especially at that price though, just not for me.

My Recon 1 is coming tomorrow and my 4Max Scout is a fun knife to show off ,in going to get another one, that American Law Man should be renamed the Sammy the Bull, I bit he likes that knife ,now the Code 4 is one on the radar as a must have and the AD 10 is Andrew Demko'z signature knife now.
I got a Cold Steel Golden Eye Elite for $60 brand new when they were discontinuing it. It's a tank of a knife, lightweight for its size, extremely sharp out of the box, and looks good. Couldn't believe I got a solid knife with carbon fiber handles and S35VN blade for that cheap. Still in awe till this day.

I also own a lot of the CS cheap stuff from South Africa, like the various machetes and some Fixed Knives, the SRK CarbonV + AUS-8A and SRK Compact SK5 and Master Hunter in AUS-8A + San Mai. Yes, it was and is really a lot of money, but I think the knives don't lose value. I love them all so much. But I 'm not only a collector, I of course use them a lot too. Is there any explanaition why Mr.Thompson sold his Company? I was so sad when I heard it.
Love the Code 4, I have the tanto!! my partner is a non-knife person who pulls for photo shoots so he knows what high end stuff looks and feels like. He thought it was a much more expensive knife! And this knife is incredibly slim too, love the aluminum handles. Got it on sale for 72 bucks in s35vn what a bargain!!!!
Fine list. It is hard for me to keep some of their fixed blades off a list of best Cold Steels. I have the SRK and Recon Tanto in 3V and Cold Steel does an amazing heat treat on 3V. Just picket up American Law man a couple days ago. AD-10, AD-15, and Code4 complete my list. The little Tufflite is an honorable mention. Too bad the Finnwolf has stuck with AUS8.
SR1 (Tanto and Spear point)my favorite, it's a littler smaller then the 4 max scout when folded in the pocket but still a good 4" blade. And the newer lawman is flat ground.
One format I like (and hate that I like) is when doing a Top 5 list the presenter does 5-4-3-2 and then interrupts with a couple of "honorable mentions" before presenting #1. Slightly keeps up the suspense for fans who know your preferences.
The code 4 is one of my favourites and the biggest knife I own, I have the black handle with satin blade. The only downside is the back lock bar is black and the paint scratches and stuff

I love the CS Code 4 and it was my edc But recently I have switched my Edc to a CS Prolite clip point the reason is that it's winter and I live In the north east (New England) and the scales are cold . I have a few more premium CS , recon 1, Bushranger and broken skull BUT I like the pro lite and it's a great size for my edc needs . I wish and hope that the New CS will make a Code 4 with G10 or even better make a budget version with frn and aus 8 or 8cr. I am looking forward to getting a Range Boss but wish it was either AUS8 or 8cr or even 4116 but I'm still planning on getting the 4034 anyway. Thanks. I forgot to mention that I am well aware of the CS Air lite and I feel it may be perfect for my needs except for the price you could get a broken skull or code4 or for a few more dollars a recon1 or American Lawman. I recently got a cold steel trail guide at an antique store and damn is that thing cool I wish it were the spear point but again damn the clip point looks near as nice.
Cold Steel isnt my most favorite manufacturers but I will say this that can't be denied. They have the best factory edge of any other knife manufacturer only maybe Hogue comes close. I love the AD10. The only reason I don't own more is I don't care for back locks.
Hollow grind and tanto blade are the worst scenario possible for maintenance. Actually, only worse thing is partly serrated tanto hollow grinded. A 10 is pretty amazing, whilst 4Max Scout is category for itself-BEAST.

Can’t believe nobody mentions the “Broken skull “what a great knife. My list would be large espada g10 xhp, rahja2, vaquero xl, an the SR1 lite . I love those knives they are what knife users carry . Seems coldsteel is a user’s company more then a collectors. But they still have many people collecting them. I personally will take coldsteel over anything else out there.
The Air Lite is also a commendable mention if you don't want something as large and bulky, having owned quite a few cold steels myself I can attest to their chunkiness at times. My favorite that I own is definitely my Code 4 in XHP, absolute beast of a user.
My 4max scout order was just cancelled, after waiting months from black friday deals it was $78! Aw man I was really looking forward to getting that especially for that price.

FYI, my Recon 1, new batch, no hollow grind, has a very much finer textured surface to the G10.
For me code 4 is number 1, it's beautiful, and I like metal handle
