It doesn't have to be a digital-only console to be a second SKU; it can be as mundane as just being another color.
I think they're in a very unique spot where they don't need a long hype cycle, with their current very high reputation for quality (along with putting out games at a good pace lol) combined with the Switch being a bit infamous for their outdated tech, just show off some graphically/technically impressive games and hype will immediately go to the moon.
most huge AAA games coming out costs too much to be made exclusive on newest gen consoles so i'm hoping if future games are made compatible with xbox series S then they can also run on switch 2 (I'm mostly talking about mh wilds lol)

I expect announcement around the CES timeframe with a launch in late April to early June so it goes on sale around the time people get out is school. This will help them sell to the early adopters and then help build a backlog for holiday production the months after.
Since this is a direct "successor" console, and not an entirely new concept, you don't need the 6 months the original Switch had for consumers to "get it". I'm thinking a similar cycle that the OLED swich had. 3 Months. January reveal. April/May Release.
I usually keep my console and game boxes, so I hope they do shrink them down. I liked the DS/3DS size for the games. Hopefully they have something similar so it takes up less space for me.

I'd say 90% it'll be before the end of Feb (before their Feb financial statement) but 50% this year. So that's an inferred 40% chance of Jan/Feb. Still, if they're targeting a June/July release, which would be likely at that stage, Jan might work better. So... 30% in the month of January?

I reckon we'll get news about the Switch 2 sometime next week, but we won't get the console until early 2026. The Switch was announced 2 years before its eventual release, and the fact that Nintendo's only put out an announcement for an *announcement* (Not a reveal) makes me think the console's in very early production. Not to throw cold water on everyone hyped for the upcoming announcement, but I think the most we should expect from it is: A codename/name drop, whether or not it'll have backwards compatibility, whether or not it'll have a cool gimmick, a release date, and some vague hardware specs. We won't see any big presentation for it, we won't see any games for the system no gimmick reveal, nothing cool like that. That's my prediction
