The man working on this truck is far from a butcher and far from a hack he is very focussed knows what he’s doing,(I’ve seen him in other videos). he is just fast and works on vehicles like they owe him money ,that doesn’t make him incompetent or a butcher. if he lived in Canada, I would hire him tomorrow. Kudos to your whole team Dave most of the negative comments are people that can’t even change their own oil because they don’t know how, so take it with a grain of salt.
No one is calling him a butcher. The Pentastar is not built for boost in it's stock form. They blow up. Google it. Look in GladiatorForum and WranglerForum. Unless you're installing an MMX or Prodigy forged internal kit it's just a matter of when a boosted 3.6 will go boom. RIPP, Magnusson, Edelbrock know they are selling a product that will blow the engine, they all will fail on a stock internals engine. The pistons are not capable of running boost for very long. Even small amounts of boost. And no one wants an extra 30 HP for $8000. The cost of the supercharger kit and forged internals kit is pointless when you can do a 5.7 swap for the same money and get higher HP. That's exactly what I did on my '12 JKR.
Jason actually worked on my truck. Precision valve adjustment. Truck runs quieter and smoother. He was super quick too. He left no trace he was even there. He knows what he is doing.
The tech is great and I would let any of them work on my vehicle. My problem is there are actually people with this kind of disposable income to drop on a already new vehicle... Where's the money coming from?
Especially since they unboxed it, and clunked each part on the concrete shop floor in a big pile. I cringed a couple of times. Can’t blame them though, like kids as Christmas. They are very thorough. Great shop.
A super charger is the very best way to find the weakest link in a drive train. It's always best to start at the rear end and work your way forward with performance mods.
Ps just to add to my last comment this is also the first time he’s probably done this upgrade on this platform. dude ripped through it like butter and Still did a perfect job no hacking ,torqued everything to spec with audible Snap On torque wrench’s. even stuff, that some of us wouldn’t bother he still did it. Bravo
I put a blower on my old 2004 titan. Man what an increase in performance. Not the fastest thing on the road, but for towing and hauling it's the best upgrade you can do.
Bought a brand new 2013 challenger with a 3.6l pro charger it when got 25 miles on it has 500hp and 512ft and gets 30mpg on hwy in town 23 with 270,000 miles on without any problems ❤
I cannot tell you how much I want to throw a Magnuson OEM SuperCharger kit on my Tacoma lol. I kind of feel like it should have come with it from the factory.
Being a fellow mechanic I’m not impressed with Jeep/dodge products. The supercharger is a quality unit . Too bad it’s being wasted on that pentastar. I only watched this video is because I follow this shop and feel every member of this business is top notch . Nice installation. Just not a fan . A 5.7 2021 tundra would have been a better build. Jmho
You gotta remember that the size of the box is not equal to the size of the part within it. It's usually half the size due to all the packing materials used to protect it. ✌🏼

If this pentastar has the dorman bulletproofing kit installed which would include the oil cooler/filter housing upgrade as well and have the rotating assembly upgraded with a forged rotating assembly with pistons made for supercharged applications, have speed of air upgrades and super ported cylinder heads with polyquad valve modification, this engine will rip it up!
Range listed for transmission fluid temp is too low unless it’s specific to application. Transmission fluid doesn’t start to degrade until 115C for a ZF8. If it degrades at the temp Dave stated any transmission hooked up to the vehicles coolant system would degrade the fluid assuming ~90C coolant temp with Dave’s claim of 190F (88C) degrading the fluid.
Appreciate how he's gentle with the impact @12:25 and properly torques. I see a lot of mechanics drive it home with the impact. Makes me cringe with aluminum threads.
The Pentastar engine is built like a tank. Can't comment on the overall build of the Jeep. TH-cam channel "I Do Cars" does a tear down of one and was surprised at how beefy the Pentastar is. It will have no problem handling this supercharger.
Does this pentastar engine have the dreaded roller rocker failure issue or has that been fixed? Do you still run 0w-20 oil in it? ...and you should install an aluminum oil cooler/filter housing while your in there.
I want to put one of these kits in my 5.7 tundra. Thanks for showing off the kit! Someone will be happy come new years. I'm about to buy a daves favorite flashlight to get a chance myself.

Yeah. Putting a blower on a Stellantis motor is just asking for trouble. The blower is for going fast. And that’s what the owner will do. And when she blows, the owner will come back to Dave.
I hope, while you were deep into that engine, you replaced the factory plastic oil cooler/filter housing with the Dorman aluminum replacement! That way the new owner won’t have to do it in a year.

I had a Magnuson supercharger installed on my 2020 4Runner. Didn't turn it into a race car, but is a big improvement on the factory power. Magnuson makes excellent products
And I’m guessing that’s why transmission issues are happening all the time now. They run them hotter for “efficiency” but it definitely is a risk to the longevity of the trans. Especially with manufactures staying fluid is good for 100k. Which is a load of crap. Just changed my fluid at 38k and glad I did. Still looked ok and smelled fine but can only imagine how terrible it would look at 80 or 100k. And my current truck trans temp runs at 100-135 depending on load and weather.

This engine is not meant to handle increased pressure. It can barely survive in stock form. It's going to end up blowing a head gasket and of course they'll recommend a motor rebuild.
Nevermind the V Sick, let's do this to a big block and see how long it takes to get arrested!! Frankly, I've had enough of one of our customers that has a Moostong V Sick with a supercharger that he rails. The dimwit keeps breaking his toy! A V8 with a mild power adder would have been sufficient, but noooo!
Giveaway or not, supercharging an engine with a 10.2 : 11.3 : 1 compression ratio ranks right up there with turbocharging the 12.5 : 1 1969 ZL-1 427. Head gaskets, pistons, and rotating assemblies can only take so much.

I've spoken to a guy who is the engine rebuilder for a large Chrysler dealer. He works flat rate, and the Pentastar is his moneymaker. Constant flow of head gasket jobs, the plastic heater hoses blow, and the engine is very sensitive to overheating. The results speak for themselves, avoid this engine in a pickup truck, it's only a matter of time before the abuse of lugging such a heavy vehicle around overheat it.
I believe the 3.6 has 18,000,000 units produced across 3 revisions. Yeah people will see a decent amount of failures and there's a good share that had poor or no maintenance. The failure rate in ratio to production numbers is actually good. The other upside to such a widely produced engine is a wide variety of shops that work on them and a solid after market community. It's naturally aspirated and port injection which are also pluses in my opinion. The hate for this motor is mostly unwarranted. Heck I've watched numerous people fix the tick issues themselves for a few dollars and a few hours of work. What more could you want.
Are you retaining the NA compression ratio of 10.2:1? How high will the blower push that, 13:1, maybe less? Any rotating assembly mods? Any TCU tune? Not necessarily saying it's needed, just curious what the big dogs think of those things...
Many modern engines have high compression and GDI. With the right octane, it won't be a problem. The Jeep uses 87 octane right? Usually these kits call for 91 or 93 octane fuel.
That poor v6 is going to have uncle Rodney knocking in such a short time, while the kit is nice, and I'm sure magnuson did their homework, that stellantis engineered v6 if going to hate life at that power output, and if the engine doesn't quit, the trans, driveline or axle will give up the ghost quickly. Never would i ever recommend supercharging a minivan.

He even checked for and removed some burrs on the mating surfaces. Love the attention to detail. These guys do great work.

Upgrade the engine oil cooler to aluminum otherwise you kill that vehicle. Use amzoil and hope you have a catch can. Otherwise great job 👏

If I were working on it. I'd swap out the plastic for aluminum oil cooler assembly. 😉

Yeah Honda civics recommend changing the transmissions fluid at 30k miles. Seems like every year that number gets lower and lower
