Muslims had done the same in the same place when they destroyed the city of Ctesiphon, which was the capital of Iran under the rule of sassanid empire. They killed so many people in that time in Iran.
Same with banu qurayza. A jewish tribe in yathrib (renamed madinnah by the arabs). They promised clemency if they surrender and submit to arabs. Only to be betrayed. They killed all the men. Selling all the tribe women and children as slaves for muslim soldiers.

NO not a single islamic nation gave aid to bagdahd even though the caliph(the pope bassically) was based there like imagine the mongols sieged rome this time like all of europe would show up so this shows the disunity.
We all agree that the Mongols were formidable warriors, but very little or nothing is said about the incredible task of keeping an army in the field, keeping it fed and watered and supplied with weapons. The logistics involved were unbelievable. How did they do it?
For people saying the Muslims deserved this for destroying the Nalanda University, consider this: This comes from Tabaqat-i Nasiri by Minhaj-i-Siraj, a Persian historian, describing Bakhtiyar Khilji's attack on Nalanda: Attack on Nalanda: Khilji's forces attacked what they thought was a fortress. It was actually Nalanda, an ancient Buddhist university. "Shaven-headed Brahmans": This phrase refers to Buddhist monks, as they traditionally shaved their heads. Minhaj-i-Siraj may have misunderstood or generalised them as Brahmans (Hindu priests). Destruction and Books: After killing the inhabitants, the invaders discovered numerous books in the library. They wanted someone to interpret the texts, but no scholars or monks survived to explain them. Realisation: The Muslims then realized that this "fortress" was not a military installation but a center of learning (a university). The local term "Bihar" (from Vihara, meaning a Buddhist monastery) referred to the university. Essentially, the Muslims mistakenly destroyed a major educational and cultural institution, realising its significance only after the massacre and destruction.
Sorry but as a Mongol , i feel the animation depicting the Mongols are horrible. I’m talking about their facial characteristics, their armors, flags, snd weapons. Also where did people come up with this idea about the Mongol cavalry marching in lockstep like the Romans or North Koreans? Simply laughable 😂
These books that were destroyed were probably qurans, hadiths and other islamic books so no real value was lost. So where was allah in all of this? Why didn't he saved the muslims and islamic world?
The books contained where just copies of Greek philosophy and thought. Not really a loss you claim it to be. In fact the Muslims were pederasts and boy lovers. Most of the "lost books" were just poems to the lust they had with little boys.
Bro that deep Mongol groan/sound at 0:39 makes me want to drink saw and possibly poisonous milk…just feels like what i should be doing if that’s the kind of music that’s normal to me
Geez. And I thought the Dark Ages ended around 1,000AD. Well, I guess this is when the Dark Ages happened in the Middle East. Note, some folks believe the Dark Ages ended around 1,500AD
The Islamic Golden Age was already in decline for several centuries by the time of this battle, which some consider the final nail in the coffin. Eventually Islamic fundamentalism arose to replace the learning that had taken place before, and the region was never the same after that. While the Middle East's star waned, the Renaissance began in Europe and ensured it would then become the new lamp of knowledge and learning in the West.
@@whiteknightcat Agreement. Just like Rome in centuries past, these people had grown soft and were checked. It was an absolute sh&t show of leadership.
The Dark Ages is a term formerly used to describe the centuries following the fall of the Roman Empire in the west. Nowadays people refer to that period as Early Medieval
@@bobs182 Nah--the caliphates were losing money and influence. Baghdad was already losing its grasp o its own territories. The Islamic empire was full of infighting. They spent a fortune fighting each other, then tried to recoup their loss by attacking Malta--and that turned out poorly the first time and disastrously the second time.
It didn't recover as they went from the center of civilization and learning to the religious backwardness still seen today. Most people find it hard to believe that Islam was the center of civilization for several centuries called the Golden Age of Islam. We use Arabic numbers and we got algebra from the Arabs, not to mention that they saved ancient Greek learning and passed it back to Europe.
Arabic numerals are arabized indian numerals. They combined the knowledge from india, china, Persia and greece, and tried to research on it resulting in progress in the field of mathematics, metallurgy and chemistry @@bobs182
@@bobs182 It was fortunate that much of this learning had by then arrived in Al-Andalus. When Alfonso VI took Toledo (or had it handed over to him, depending on your preference) in 1085, the library amassed by the previous muslim rulers was the finest in Europe. Scholars from christian Europe flocked there to study and disseminate the manuscripts held there. On a point of detail, the numbers we use today originated in India and passed through the muslim world. Muslim scholars also built on previous work by Indians and Greeks in what they did. The idea that the Arabs 'saved' Ancient Greek learning has been overcooked. Pretty much all those manuscripts survived in Europe, but had been buried away in archives and ignored. Many re-emerged from Constantinople from where better translations could be made, without the accretion of errors that invariably slipped in during multiple previous translations.

Long live Mongols.. BTW there is nothing called Islamic sciences , architecture etc.. It was all ancient knowledge that already present when Islamic barbarians came and converted them .. Even the dome in Mosques all over the world comes from Persian architecture.. Science, Maths, Geometry, Algebra, Astronomy, linguistics etc etc were all from Hindus that Arabians had learned as arab merchants going to India for trade.. Till today Maths in Arabia is called "al-ḥisāb al-hindī" ..They translated 'Surya Sidhanta' into arabic which taught them the sciences.. Arabs also took a lot of knowledge from the Greeks and Persians, which the world now called Islamic sciences. BTW Muslims in India destroyed even bigger world university called 'Nalanda', Taxila, Vikramshila, Sharda Peeth in Kashmir, and many many more..
Golden age of islam furthered the field of mathematics, metallurgy and chemistry The intent was to combine all the knowledge that existed in the world, which came from china, india, persia, greece & translate them into Arabic language. Scholars who were tasked with this opportunity, travelled across the known world, collecting scientific scriptures and work of arts.
I really think that the only thing that could have stopped the mongols would be if europe and the middle eastern put apart their differences and fought back with all they possibly could muster
How is the incompetent Caliphate able to defeated the second Crusade? Yet losing to the Mongols was a mistake then how did the most powerful Polish army at the time got annihilated by the same smaller army of the Mongols?
Mongols Empire was vast and empty inbetween tribes...Greeks would have done the same, but its hard to control a vast area with very little to offer to the Greeks.
For all those doing their little Superior Dance over the defeat of the Caliph by the Mongols, kindly consider that the same Mongol conquerors (who HQ'd in Iran) were thrown over in 1260..just two years later. No, what were you saying about "hubris"??
But the Mongol empire did not seem to last that long. But remnants like the golden horde were around for sometime impacting lands within reach of the steppe warriors.
You would think by the battle of Baghdad that people would have learned that the Mongols kept their word when they said they wouldn't show mercy IF you fought back. Why you would fight the Mongols then surrender is just beyond me, you def got the sword if you didnt give in to their demands. This was one of the most consequential sackings of a city in recorded history. The burning of all that knowledge set the world back several centuries IMO. It also turned Islam from what it was then, to what it is now. From scholars to fanatics.

Don’t forget about Constantinople.
Same with banu qurayza. A jewish tribe in yathrib (renamed madinnah by the arabs). They promised clemency if they surrender and submit to arabs. Only to be betrayed. They killed all the men. Selling all the tribe women and children as slaves for muslim soldiers.

For the truth this wasnt really the end the end was far before this event as this was just the nail in the coffin.
Shamanistic Magic requiring lots of human sacrifice!
For people saying the Muslims deserved this for destroying the Nalanda University, consider this:
This comes from Tabaqat-i Nasiri by Minhaj-i-Siraj, a Persian historian, describing Bakhtiyar Khilji's attack on Nalanda:
Attack on Nalanda: Khilji's forces attacked what they thought was a fortress.
Thanks for historical film.

The Dark Ages is a term formerly used to describe the centuries following the fall of the Roman Empire in the west. Nowadays people refer to that period as Early Medieval

Considering the planet's population at that time, its a wonder that the Middle East even recovered after these wars.

@@insh_why is that funny? Weird comment.
