- Sailing on Galveston Bay with our Goat Island Skiff, named GIR. If you are interesting in building your own boat check out: www.storerboatplans.com.
Michael Storer is the designer of the Goat Island Skiff and has other designs as well.
One of the things to watch for in this video is how we change our positions because the boat was rolling to windward too much. After we moved apart and on opposites sides of the boat, she settled down and sailed much nicer.
Also at the end we sail the boat backwards with the mizzen sail and dock the boat. - กีฬา
Nice speed you're doing! Lovely boat, the right size for two!
I firmly believe that the forward mast step is necessary to help the boat track properly. With the mast in the normal location with mizzen up the mizzen would over power the rudder too quickly. When the mast is in the forward step she sails much nicer as a yawl.
Of course you want a mizzen Simon! It is pretty and super functional. Santa can come in the form of a kit from my shop. GIR, here, started as a kit in Maine!
That was awesome...love how you backed in with the mizzen!!!!
So much fun in a little boat. 😀
Wow, you were flying. That looked like so much fun I watched it twice.
Love the paint job! Very fun thanks!
Oh ... and happy birthday!!!!!
Another sweet vid of GIR
Looks like some hairy sailing, but you guys make it look pretty chilled. Nice.
Sweet! My son and I just watched your video for the first time. His comments were and I quote, "look dad that is Santa with one of his elves taking a vacation from the north pole". Beautiful!
you were going really fast. what fun.
Ok ya’ll are having too much fun! 😁........I’m jealous 😖. Great video guys.
wow that looked like fun !!!!
look like so much fun..!!!!!!
Thank you for this fantastic video ! I like it :-)
Sweet video
Great!
you can kind of see why this boat needs all the freeboard it has because water splashes quite high up the sides
She goes fast
Did you have to move the front mast position when you added the second sail?
Do the fenders help to avoid tipping? Or are they there for gunwale protection?
How is the camera mounted to the painters pole?
John, I love the color on GIR! Is it epoxy? What is the color called. I'm building an Mikesbaot and would love to use it. However I plan to use epoxy paint on The boat. Is it available in Epoxy? thank you!
GIR ??? What does the G stand for? ;)
13 minutes without changing the camera view. Could have been a lot better. Really nice boat.
