It's always as peaceful as that. ❤️❤️

I am very Christian, but I am familiar with Ramadan, but not knowledgeable. As a sociologist (& chef) this is such a lovely video that needs to go viral. The media I am afraid only shows Muslim as a horrible terroristic religion. This is enlightening and really helps to show that the vast majority of Muslims are a beautiful people. I hope I say this correctly as it is meant with great respect, so please take it as a compliment.

If you were to look further into Islam, you will find so very many similarities between it and Christianity and Judaism. 😊 Differences too, but many similarities.

@@VeryCherryCherry uh that’s a definite no. Islam is a weak copy of the Torah in order for the false prophet Mohammed to try to persuade Jewish tribes to join his cult. When the Jews questioned him on religion it was clear he knew nothing. Later, when mo had more ppl join him he went back to kill the Jews. No. 1 reason it’s nothing like Judaism or Christianity is that Islam doesn’t even follow the 10 commandments. Yahweh is God, not a false moon god.

@@VeryCherryCherry I know there is. I had to take several classes for sociologist religion of the world. It's sad that the social media focuses on so much hate, and not just with religion, but on many topics. Seeing the family focused food side just makes this easier for people to see that you are a peaceful people. My mom went on a Christian tour of the Holy Land, and her bus driver was Muslim. At the end, he invited the entire group into his home to share a meal and worship together. Most beautiful story.

    RAMADAN KAREEM EVERYONE!!!
I come from Lebanon. My family and I always break our fast with a glass of water and a date. Then we have soup, followed by the main dish. It is very important to focus on hydration and getting a lot of vegetables in you since fasting can cause constipation to some people. Also, we reduce our sugar, salt, and any processed or fried food intake because they will cause us to become thirsty during the day. I encourage non-muslims to try fasting for Ramadan for a day or two or a week even (preferably with a Muslim friend and break their fast at their friend's house) just to experience how wonderful and giving Ramadan can be.

This makes me so happy as a Malaysian Muslim. I love the fact that the girl in the black hijab really summed Ramadhan up well. Ramadhan teaches you to be very grateful for having food, drink and your possessions. Starving all day long is not easy but then you really really understand what it’s like for those who don’t have food in poor countries or war torn countries. So many are suffering and dying if hunger so when we who are privileged enough to have food everyday, when we fast, we become so humbled and grateful. It even teaches you humility and self control. You not only have to abstain from eating or drinking during the day but you can’t do anything sexual either with your spouse while fasting. You tamp down such urges during the fasting hours and that really teaches you something for sure. It is very difficult sometimes for those who have high libidos or are teens going through the hormonal growth. When we say Ramadhan is a cleansing of the mind, soul and spirit this is why. I urge any non Muslims to just try it. Try fasting from before dawn til dusk, it will make you feel very good when you finally can break your fast and before that every time your mind turns to food you remind yourself “This is what it’s like for the starving people all around the world.”

I'm a Catholic living in the biggest Muslim country. And every Ramadan, I receive tens of offers to join Bukbers (Buka bersama, basically breaking the fast together) and If-tar dinner despite not being Muslim or not even being family. Most of these invitations come from good friends, a small percentage came from acquaintances and the rest came from distant neighbours I've only met like once a week. They don't care that I'm from a different religion, or that I don't celebrate Ramadan, all they care about is that I haven't eaten dinner myself and that I respect them as humans. It is a wonderful time of year when dinner is never eaten alone.

I adore this channel and I adore themes like this one. Few years back I traveled to Turkey during Ramadan and I will never forget the feeling of everyone gathering to break the fast in parks and other public areas where large tables and benches were set up and everyone would eat together the food they brought with them or the food that could have been bought at the food stands (amazing variety of delicious food) and everyone would make space for anyone who wanted to sit down, everyone was welcomed and that feeling of togetherness and openness to share simple lifes' joy such as eating a meal with a complete stranger is, stayed with me forever ❤

We just cook what we want to eat.. Because we have no enough time to cook.. we still work until 4 p.m in ramadhan..

    Ramadan Mubarak to everyone!
I lived in the Middle East and in South East Asia for many years, so I've had the chance to know Ramadan in different cultures. I've been to many iftar dinners from very humble ones to one in the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, and I am grateful for every one of them. Here's my little advice: if you are not Muslim and you get invited to an iftar, particularly if it is at a private home or with close friends, eat a lot less during that day, whether it is complete fasting or just taking something very light or just some liquid (I didn't have much problem not eating before those occasions, but I find not drinking anything for a whole day very hard... your mileage might vary!). You might do it a sign of respect for their traditions, you might do it to make the experience more interesting, or you might even do it just not to gain weight during Ramadan (which tends to happen, believe it or not!), that part is up to you. In any case, you are almost certainly going to find a lot of food of the best kind they have to offer, and much more importantly, a warm welcome and a feeling of togetherness.

I live in a multicultural country and I've met people from all sorts of cultures and religions and while I was watching this video, it reminded me how many times friends from other backgrounds shared a meal from their country with me, how many times it was me sharing with them. I feel that food has a mystical aspect in all cultures! It's a symbol to bring people together, to share a moment. Everyone here holds a food memory from our childhood and we will carry it for life! And if we stop just for a moment to think about it, it isn't about the taste itself! It's about the moment, it's a memory from a loved one who has shared that moment with us, and you're going to love that food for the rest of your life, because that food "brings you back home"! Great channel Beryl! Moreover, a great way to run a Channel! You're so genuine in your insights!

When our lunar calendars align in the right way, Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of fasting & atonement, happens to fall during Ramadan. In Judaism we break our fast after sunset, much like Iftar. Sunset is often used as a symbolic division in my people's religion, splitting time into the secular & the sacred, the beginnings & ends of things. I was very fortunate to break my fast as a community with both Muslims & Jews in Brooklyn a couple years ago. It was a powerful experience & a type of connection I would love to see more of. Some of my family comes from Syria originally & while doing some research I once read somewhere that after Pesach (Passover, a Jewish holiday commemorating freedom from slavery & involving abstaining from bread products), Muslims living in Halab would bring a crust of bread to their Jewish neighbors, a sort of welcome. While there were periods of persecution, prior to the 20th century, Muslim countries were in many ways a place of refuge to Jews compared to the horrors in Christian Europe. The people in power may be oppressive & enact horrible acts of violence, whether it is the crimes of the state of Israel or the various types of discrimination Jews faced while living in Muslim countries, but us everyday people? We have so much more in common than the fear mongers, the greedy, the politicians & generals & bankers want us to think. Where you say Salaam Aleikum we say Shalom Aleichem. I pray someday we see justice for our Palestinian brothers & sisters, & peace for us all.
