- Camping in the heavy rain on a mountain with tent and tarp. This was a great trip with good food cooked over the campfire. Rainstorm and heavy rain and a freezing cold night. Enjoy the video and thanks for watching as always.

Hey everyone hope you enjoy this video. This is an amazing camp spot so please appreciate it. Check out our Instagram if you want to see a bit more behind the scenes from us. Thank you all 😀
Hi Root. Fantastic camp again. The location is beautiful. I thought I recognised it from your earlier video. I’ll rewatch that one. The wet wood was a nightmare, eh? 😵Thank you for the update on Victoria. We miss her. 😀Your nature and vista shots are top notch!👌🏾 Just breathtakingly, gorgeous! It looked like you were above the clouds from the shots on your hike down! ☁️😮The conditions were brutal, at one point we could bearly hear you over the rain on the tarp. You said it was bitterly cold.🌧 Your dinner looked delicious! 👨🍳⛺️
I did say it needed some hot sauce as well!! 😂
How did you sleep? You were quite vague. 💤
Your tent did get damp inside! 🥶
That must have been a personal best the hike down?
You said it would take three hours and you got back to your Soobs in 1h30mins! 💪
I don’t know if you have one already, maybe invest in a bodycam harness for your camera don’t want you injuring yourself.
Do you have a satellite phone?
So beautiful is your homeland and remote as well! Relieved you have your Location Beacon. Just in case Abel. 😅
Do you call them tuffets of grass?
Epic camp as per Abel! ⛺️🌧👌🏾
We really appreciate all the hard work and effort! 🙏
Your fan from 🇬🇧
P.s So pleased the Alpaca Beanie paid dividends in the storm! Love that Beanie dude!
Sleeping 💤
What you mean he talks to much that how we know what's happening then dont listen and the other to much coffee really it's what Abel love to Drink then dont watch I love your videos it gives me peace ❤😊
Hi Alan from England, just started watching and love it, sorry for keep witting but just that you and the fire 🔥, was funny that you new that it wouldn’t work before hand, hope you are all well and I’m going to let my friends know about your stuff, anyway please have a look at FISH 13 for a mad camp, better than my home, thanks again Alan from England 🏕🇬🇧🍻💯👍👍
Abel totally enjoy your videos. Those birds are a gas. You always make watching fun.
I have to say I've being watching your vid's for a while now, love hiking, love camping, but I hate these starving bastards living on fucking air cos its lightweight, you put the work in, you take it with you, I think you are changing peoples idea of camping, it can be enjoyable.
Haha yeah. There is a time and place for light weight but not often. Cheers
Do you ever go camping when it is not raining or snowing? Good video.
Not often
@@AbelandVictoria I love the rain and snow videos
Hey brother really glad to see you back again in action
😊 brings us all another great episode I'm really excited to be part of this new adventure.
🎉
Hey thanks ☺️
That was a brilliant camp, what a spot!! there is something so calming about camping alone. Thanks mate
No worries
I love your videos, they are so inspiring and entertaining. You guys are awesome! 🙌
I agree with you about McVitie's Chocolate Digestives, but I prefer the Milk Chocolate rather than the Dark Chocolate.
Great camp site. All you need is Victoria to complete your trip. Charleston,SC USA
I did wonder where your better half was but I figured she didn't want to fast walk up a mountain in cold rain trying to keep up with your longer legs while carrying a pack and was nice and cozy somewhere much more comfortable to spend the night. In other words only one of you was a dumb bleep and that is usually the guy. Been there and done that in my younger days. 😆😆🤣🤣😂😂😉
Lol
What a beautiful view. New Zealand is just beautiful! I enjoyed the camp flaws and all food looked delicious. New to your channel looking forward to watching you and Victoria in your other videos! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Nz is incredibly beautiful
I started eating those Digestives after finding your channel. Thanks for the idea 👍👍
Able you really do carry those wickers in your pack 😂love it 😀❤from Michigan
Hi Able, Enjoyed your video. I know the smoke was a hindrance. When you think about it, if camping went perfect it would be boring. Have something to chuckle about later on
I really enjoy your videos, you guys are the best. I enjoy watching your solo camps aswel 👍 anyone can summer camp but you guys go out in extreme weather and that is the ultimate test of your tent and sleeping attire.
Thweres nothing better than camping in extreme weather.
I salute you 👌
Keep the videos coming 👍
Thanks
Newer subscriber, love the videos, they are relaxing and very enjoyable. The locations are great.
Glad you like them!
so just wondering I see alot of sitting in the tent content. Does this create any lower back pain? If so have you considerd trying some sort of portable stadium seating gear to a video or would that be to much of an issue to carry on an adventure?
just wondering do you not have an issue with the heat on the handle of your pan?
Na it was ok actually worked well
cool have a great weekend love the content

Thanks for sharing Abel. Dark chocolate digestives are the ultimate luxury. I've had smoked mackerel and smoked salmon, but never a smoked Able 😊 love from Cornwall England ❤
I appreciate wen you do a call out on here to ab camping Abel I support both yours n Tony channels I'm a proud kiwi supporter admiring the S.I views you guys bless us with... one day I hope to make it down there in the summer of course 😊 I'm from the far north N.I and my skin is not thick enough for our South Island lols so good on uze...I miss seeing Victoria on the last cpl of camps bro
Hey dw Victoria will be back 😀
Hi Abel Very nice Awesome Scenery Love your Camp site the Lake with birds in background so Awesome sounds 😊
MASSIVIE! MASSIVE! MASSIVE! That is how a real deluge is for me and my great camping skills "bush rafting" You get 20 drops and you think it's a snowstorm! Where I live in Scotland, it rains so hard it blows my tent over!!! I must keep on re positioning my tent 5-6 times!!! And I use railroad spikes to hold my tent down while you use some little nails. And you feel you eat a tiny hot dog meal of 6? That's my appetizer!!! I eat 12!!! And I put cheese you by 1/2 pound!!! In Scotland, we don't use a little propane device. I learned REAL camping to use only fire. And those marbles you call meatballs shoot I roll a pound of hamburger onto MY plate. I eat like a REAL man!!! I'm so blown away by your half sip of whiskey out of an alcoholics flask. We use the whole bottle here in Scotland! Those weka birds all laugh at you! Whoa here! I'm kidding, gotcha! I love your show and watch the other videos over and over. You and Victoria have a hot show so keep on camping!!! Sorry for joking! 🥴🥴🥴
Beautiful campsite, awesome country. Love your perfectly imperfect camping style👍🏻
Thanks for making fun out of misery. Be well. Be safe. Wishing you peace and good fortune. Happy Trails!
Thanks
Bad tarpaulin, uncivilised coffee 😡 I can’t even look at ya
Lol
*I Laugh and Make-Fun of (other) Campers that camp*
*their Tents that have "NO BOTTOMS" to their Tents.* 😂
*Why the heck would anybody want to camp in a Tent with*
*NO Bottom to their Tent and having BUGS and the COLD coming Underneath?? Heck NO!!*
*But You Did GOOD having a BOTTOM to your Tent.* 👍👍👍
If that's the spot I think it is, there's a good source of firewood nearby: that's about 150-200 metres from the bushline above the cobb resivoir - short walk to scavange firewood.
There is some bigger standing dead trees there but didn’t want to cut them down for a fire in these conditions. I’ll save them for snow
Wow, this view is just awesome. Thanks for sharing your trip. And I love the sound of the rain. GREAT! Cheers!
Think I need that Tarp for my camping in Wales, similar weather. Wish had got a similar tent to yours, have one with a small vestibule. (But loads of space).
As a Brit I approve of the biscuit dunking😂
P.s As on bike tricky with weight. Small miracle am around 10kg (but very basic have to eat out but next to a pub no probs)
indomie...seleraku...that one is indomie goreng...throw away the water (after boiled) then put seasoning on the noddle...then would be very tasty...
My son and I ate homemade Macmiffins all the time back in 2021 🤣😂 and I love digestive bikkies especially the dark choc! 🙌🏼
Cold rainy camp but absolutely awesome as always. Great camping and awesome views with good food 👍👍.
Thanks
Abel, stop making hamburgers in your videos---yer making me too damn hungry!!! lol! :)
Wood handle, 1.5 lb head. For me and you its perfect. Weight and swing china, cheap hardware store, etc
A good biscuit? Here in USA, we have Lorna Doones. Maybe they ship to NZ?
Totally love how you hike in and all the scenery you film while camping ❤ can’t wait to catch up and watch more!
Is it weird that your rain and snow videos help me sleep 😳
ME too
Nothing better than a cup of tea and biscuits, happy dunking, #Somerset UK
Bro keep your tent closed and itll eliminate the moisture in the tent. I live in Hawaii and it rains and dogs all the time where we go pig hunting.
Mate great little camping trip, any chance you can send some of the rain over to dry sunny Australia 🇦🇺🌧️
Hmmm going to be dry here soon also
Did you have the flextail gear pump on hand to help push the fire along?
I used it iff camera a bit
I thought you might head this way after we did Sylvester mission recently. I contemplated taking some wood from the wood shed to go here lol. Would have been to much of a task because pepi keep getting wet playing in the snow.
Lol stuff taking wood over there. Too much effort
@AbelandVictoria when you have kids one day, you will understand and would do stuff like this for their needs.
Always enjoy your videos. What’s up with the bird.
Love it ,ps when dipping choccy di.s you just can't stop they are lush aren't they x
I love this campsite...it's so peaceful looking..
that might actually top the brioche bun hotdogs of your other videos. looks yum as
Just curious sir, how come you don't bring a tarp that totally covers your tent. It seems like your tarps only cover part of your tent. Wouldn't you want the added coverage over your whole tent. I am learning a lot from your videos by the way. I don't mean any disrespect on my question about the tarp. Thank you!! From a 76 year old want to be camper like you and Victoria!!!😊
Tents fully water proof tarp is more for a front area to sit out in
Great Camp as always ❤ . Continued Blessings yoo you and Mrs. VICTORIA .
Thank you! You too!
Beautiful camp site. Are there any beautiful cabins in the mountain?
Yea
@@AbelandVictoria Would you consider camping in one, and share the experience?
@@jeankanengoni9354 yeah could do one day
@@AbelandVictoria Thank you. If possible, could you show us activitties that are around the cabin, e.g. swim near waterfall, or a walk in a beautiful part of the woods, or bunjee jump off a bride, or row a boat on a nearby lake and look at the fish etc,
This was a gorgeous camp..That sunrise was amazing...
1st time I have watched your videos and seen an issue with the fire. Smokey.
영상 너무 멋져요.
바로 구독합니다.👍👍
The video is so cool.
I subscribe right away.
Nobody likes to hear somebody complain endlessly. " The wood is so wet and rotten"! Okay!! We get the picture, " The wood around camp is wet amd rotten"!
Well actually many people do hence all the regular views on my videos. What nobody wants to hear is in-fact your opinion
Great video, you finally did something different (cooking on the open fire) but the other 58 things you routinely do is getting old, boring, redundant. Too much blabbering your gums lasting 57 minutes for a one night camp and the same old routine is getting old, Abel.
Don’t watch it then…. It’s a camping channel that’s it.
Hey, there's the camp bird Enzee, at about 17:50! Nice to see you! He's Abel's bodyguard, lol..:)
😂
Love the longer videos keep them coming. Dave From Boston Massachusetts USA
Yeah I’ll probably have them around 1 hour or so. I just film what I feel like so can vary a lot
Yeah I love them too 😊
Another cracking camp, Beautiful location. Couple of quick questions: 1, What does your average pack weigh when fully loaded with gear, food and water?
2, Even though you are really fit, does it become a struggle doing those long hikes into camp?
Thank you.
Hmm if u include water and camera gear it’s usually 22/23 kg maybe more maybe a-bit less. I do have some really light weight bits of gear which helps keep total weight down.
Yes it’s hard but I like the challenge of it. Food taste better after hours of hard walking
@@AbelandVictoria Cheers for that, I've been trying to put a pack together and take maximum gear for comfort but without going broke trying to buy lighter gear, I'm struggling to get my pack under 20KG Without Food and Water - My guess, about 5KG for one night. Being That I'm 47 years old and Not fit - I struggle with it, but I try to Improve bit by bit. Thank you for That, it's been really helpful Info.
the sad thing is that you called breakfast a Mc Muffin. I hate to see them get much credit for it. The ones at the shop are overrated by a mile. slapped together and not really much to eat. Mickey D's pretty much sucks anymore and is overpriced, way overpriced.
Yours were better for sure and need their own name dude.
Yes
Which exact tent is this? Hilleberg has so many different levels it's hard to tell which one you have. Hey bushcrafter or not, your setup is your setup and I was impressed with this setup using the limb for both front tie offs.
It’s a hilleberg niak.
Appreciate your hard work and efforts. I watched every minute of it. What a beautiful camping spot.
Cheers thanks for watching 😀
Amazing blokes and keeping watching other videos awesome ideas .
Thanks for your time
Very relaxing ❤❤
Hello Abel, another great video. Lots of fun for you. Oh, by the way REMEMBER: WHAT YOU CALL BISCUITS WE IN THE US call Cookies!!!
Able you dont carry light weight hatchet
Been waiting for your upload
Hope you enjoyed it!
wtf no fancy beers today to drink ?
i think your tent was facing the wrong way around with everything blowing in ?
great video as always ..
Yea but wanted tarn views and sunrises lol I paid the price
you need some new content please no more coffee videos
Hi Abel I Love the sunset it’s Amazing Awesome Amazing Beautiful Scenery ❤❤😊😊
Thanks for sharing your adventure. Watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Gorgeous spot/ Love the nature sounds
Ill figure out a cover for over fire in rain. Will let you know
Abel what an amazing Awesome Scenery it’s a beautiful ❤😊 Keep this channel a going Much Love Abel and Victoria ❤😊
Please please stop calling it tea the way you make it we call it piss water 😂😂😂
Of often refer to my tea as piss weak brew
Indomie made in Indonesia ❤
Hi Abel I bet Victoria would Love that Awesome goodness of Food don’t tell her 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I enjoyed the video. I do learn from your example: some good and some, well, not as good. it is always fun. I am working through all your videos from the beginning with a few views of the latest. Keep it coming. I do wonder if you could plan a tree near that great spot for future hikers for years to come.
Have you thought about filming a camp in good weather? Most of us aren’t huge on hiking/camping in sh*t weather 😅
One day soon I will. We will do a few trips this summer I think
@@AbelandVictoria if nothing else to show people how good it gets down your way. Credit for getting out in it that and not get rescued by SARS - but my boys (who also watch) wouldn’t want a bar of it. Cool tent ⛺️
G'day My favorite spot. You need to find a Charcoal Tree, no smoke - ask Tony. 🤣
If you have trouble finding one look for a money tree, they usually grow near by.
Lol
😁😁😄😄🤣🤣
Hi Abel those bacon and egg muffins looked amazing I’m on my way 😛🇬🇧
Im hooked. You make me laugh, your fun. Was scared you were going to freeze all wet and it so cold. I enjoy your videos.
I so enjoyed watching you make such nice food at camp ha. Love it. Love the scenery on the way in and out. Thank you for taking us along with you 😊

Nice video, and if I may ,the fire adds a nice touch to the film, despite the struggle it gave you, please do keep up the good work 🤙
wow very interesting experience friend
Yep Sylvester Lakes area sure is stunning
Great memories from when I was working in this area in the 80's
Thanks for the trip
BINGO!!! Great struggle and victory!!! TY!!!
Do any you guys know what fire starter Abel uses?
Little lucifers
Nothing better than some spicy instant noodles, when your cold and wet.
Hi Abel here’s a tip blowing in the fire use a cooper pipe you can get more air to the fire and it works 😊
Wow what great scenery.New zealand is very beautiful.I have very good friend who lives in Auckland New Zealand.Really hoping to visit someday.❤ Love your vidoes, keep up the amazing work.🎉 Cheers! From Ontario Canada.
Hey yes it is. This is the South Island. Thanks 😊
I find it funny the bird is following him and he don't even notice it lol like it's normal
I was thinking all the roasting you got in the comments from people was just silly and pointless, after all, you're just doing you and having a ball doing it....
But then I saw how much milk you put in your tea. OMG! What are you thinking?!
Thanks for another great camp and bringing us with you.
Lol I knew someone would notice.
Talk too much
Now that is the reality of camping....doesn't always go the way we want! Love it. If you just had a way to spit those larger pieces in half, that may have helped them burn better. Thanks for a great video!!!
Yeah should have taken my knife with me
Hello from Chicago Illinois USA I really really enjoy your videos, keep up the great work.👍👍👍
Hey thanks appreciate it
Regarding the smoke, I’ve noticed that several of your recent camps, you’ve put yourself directly downwind from smoke. I know your options are limited because of the rain and the slope for the land (which affects how you angle your tarp). But maybe set up so you are crosswind or even upwind of the fire?
If you know NZ you'll be familiar with the constant wind shifts in the mountains. It can be a real headache at altitude.
