  • Tutorial using Quicktime and iMovie to make split screen music videos. The Acapella app is also great for this, but I like the editing control iMovie gives. Please comment and subscribe if you like :) Peace!

    This is a great tutorial and it helped me. Only thing I'd add is if you're using IMovie you probably have access to GarageBand (free mac software).
    It makes the most sense to seperate the audio from your video files and mix them in garageband because GB is actually equipped for audio editing. Then import the mixed audio into Imovie and line up your videos

    • @nicholasscott9672
      @nicholasscott9672 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the biggest setbacks of doing your mixing in imovie is since you have to record the video over itself; everytime you add a new video you lose the ability to adjust the level on your previous tracks

    Thanks a lot! I wondered if I could do this with imovie, and now I know! I already did my first test. I am gonna try the trick for sync. As someone mentioned, I will also try to separate the audio of each video, process and mix in just one track (with GB or other) and put it back in. Hopefully, besides the right EQ and volume levels, I should also be able to pan.

    Fantastic job Ryan, exactly what I was looking for. Quick question - Can we replace the Quicktime step? Since my mac is quite old (2008) but my iphone new (XR) I was wondering if its the same thing to just use my iphone to record the video and transfer those files to iMovie, rather than rely on the 12-year-old facetime camera on my dinosaur macbook?

    Thank you for this vid. I do find a slight problem eq-ing one video at a time and end up with an overbearing catastrophe of parts (I'd call that my fault though). I'd recommend having Garage band recording whilst your video recording software is running if you have a beefy enough mac. This saves you from having to start again mid video to start eq-ing the tracks differently... Though this side's problem would be lining up the video and syncing the visual aspect. Imo, audio comes before video but it's just as important for setting the scene right.

    • @riananthony
      @riananthony  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Leeachenbacker Good feedback, Daniel! I definitely have some tricky EQ-ing problems now and again when I'm doing it this way...though I don't mind since I'm a total novice. This method may not be the most efficient for audio. I like your suggestion - I'll give it a go. Thanks!

      Alexandre Andrade I think as long as everyone has the same bpm in their ear they can just record and you can sync them individually in iMovie. The tricky part for you, I suspect, might be the audio mixing. Hope that helps 😬✌🏻
