- A method of fishing we use up north for Spanish Mackerel we decided to try around our home town for Samson Fish. Using a huge balloon works as we found out.
We will be doing a how to video on this style of fishing on our next adventure north so start tuned to see how we do it.

Before anyone says the balloon could end up being eaten by a fish or a turtle if it pops, they're using non-synthetic latex (rubber) balloons, they're biodegradable and don't pose as much danger to marine life as Mylar (foil) balloons, which are non-biodegradable and has that shiny effect you find in spoons and jigs that make fish want to eat them.

Biodegradable but not in a short time, it takes 7 years. Still can be eaten by sea life and cause damage

We use latex qualatex branded balloons in 90cm. I am working on a video on how to do this style of fishing

What rod, reel and lure were you using?
Lemon gives Power rod is a custom calstar 9ft land based game and avet 50w reel and 24kg mono line, bait was a herring we caught. Have just sold this combo after this fish.

These balloons are qualatex branded latex 90cm balloons. Party shops sometimes have them or can get them if they are hard to find where you are

reel is a Avet 50w on a custom Calstar 800xh built to 9ft by JC customs.

Yeah it can be very slippery, some rocks are better than others and it’s taken a while for us to know what spots and where. For shoes we wear hiking boots or if it’s slippery socks offer the best grip
