It was a BOLD move for Honda to style the FK2 how they did. This is probably the best example of a love it or hate it car (there really isn't a middle ground). As someone who loves the FN2 generation, I like the FK2! It's so outlandish in all the good ways.
Big Irish Yeti 👍 I totally agree with your comment. You are buying the car to please yourself, not to please or to yearn acceptance from people. My wife asked the other day if I was being a show off with my 3 inch exhaust on my 300zx. I told her I don't give a shit about what people think I love it!
I'm early 40's and I daily an Evo X and it's a dual clutch, drive what you like who cares what most people think, I have a blast everytime I drive my car.
He's been producing videos for Everyday Driver for a few months now - I think he's got at least half a dozen contributions. Tom has steadily improved his presenting game in each one.
Personally I prefer the FK2 over the incoming "global" Civic Type R. Never really took to the 10th generation Civic body shape - it's as if Honda tried to out-Subaru Subaru's glory days with the GC8 and GDB Imprezas and forgot how it used to style its cars cleanly. That Type R and this outgoing FK2 have basically the same drivetrain anyway, and the FK2 at least has visual similarity to and progression from the Europe-only FN2 Civic/Type R.
I think it's pretty exciting when we live in a world where a civic is on par as far as power numbers as a Subaru STI. Very exciting for big Honda fans especially. I look forward to how the public takes in this performance vehicle. Great job from Honda!
Ive seen this car recently at the local car show. It looks really good when you see it in person. Looks balanced front and rear design including the sides. But seeing the upcoming Fk8 type R, all I can say is WOW!!!! I want one!!!! Btw, im a former 99 Civic Si and EK9 Civic Type R owner.
Had an FK2 for a year now. Don't know much about the Fiesta ST, but can you get lift off oversteer in the FK2? You certainly can, especially when you change from the standard (unfit for purpose) Conti 6's to better tyres.
This is by far the best looking in my op of the civic tyoe R...... ive got a 9th si and this the one they didnt let come to the states.... the coolest one 2!!
"Pontiac Aztek of hatchbacks" :D LOL, pretty accurate description. The civics of the 90's that really launched the import scene were popular cause they were so customizable. Simple and clean from the factory, the owner could take the car in any direction they wanted. Not so much with this "spaceship"...
Really interesting how divisive the looks are on this car. Honda cars typically are redesigned for the american market to appeal to their taste which I would describe as large, macho and less angular. But this was designed for the Japanese and European market where looking futuristic and high tech isn't a bad thing.
Nice car and all, and I love Thomas and the video but I still find myself asking Honda: Where is the light, rear drive Miata competitor in your lineup?
Be glad we are getting one. We never gotten many of the previous typers because the market wasn't there. if you rather have a boring Golf R even with similar power nobody will notice you. that's your choice.
The problem is the age group of the target market aren't going to be able to afford it... I can't imagine a guy in his 30s in his corporate job buying one of these....
I like how it looks, it's bold, unique and exciting. And I don't really care that it's FWD either. I think there's plenty of fun to be had in it either way. I really dislike the interior though. The red details and the shifter is really off putting.
24 here and I'm planning on buying the new type R. it'll be my first and last new car. for anything else, got my reliable 02 Camry which I planned on driving it to the ground
I know they say it's coming to the US, and it may actually come to the US, but I've recently given up on Honda for the first time since '95 due to their neverending line of bullshit that they're going to put HP into their cars and just went with a WRX. Of course the Type R Civic should have AWD, it's a no brainer - but that argument can go on without me. What I've yet to see is Honda come through with a single threat of HP. The Civic Si had what, 200hp? How adorable! Honda has to decide if they want to be Toyota or not. By the time this FWD teenager-killer hits our markets, Tesla's gonna be churning out AWD electric subcompacts that'll beat Hellcats. Whoever runs Honda should just stick to putting that nice red paint on boring subcompacts when they feel aggressive, rather than pretend they have something that makes sense. Does the CRZ ring a bell? The Honda Fit is still their best car, because it does more than what it has to. Honda seems shocked that it's selling so well. Someone has to walk into the Dadjeans In Charge's office at Honda and show them what the competition's been up to.
i love this guy and all but he is not replacement for paul and todd. i did enjoy the mustang review A LOT from this guy. i love that paul and todd are making it to tv but i miss them :/ i need my paul and todd review fix lol
Well for your buddies information the Aztec was driven by Walter White which makes the Aztec a kickass sea bass which makes this hot hatch a momentous catch ✌👌🔥💨🌋

Lord Second love it
Are they still manufacturing this Civic Type R FK2 9th gen today, this looks better than the new one. It even looks more aerodynamic
I want one... but I just turned 30. There's no way I could get away with this.
Best car channel presenter on TH-cam btw. More please.
laowhy86 I'm 54. At my age I've moved beyond giving two fucks what anyone else thinks. I'm getting one.
Big Irish Yeti lol, love you man. best comment ever!

lol exactly its not a fucking fashion accessory ! it's a car with a brutal engine.
I'm early 40's and I daily an Evo X and it's a dual clutch, drive what you like who cares what most people think, I have a blast everytime I drive my car.
This new guy is great. One of the most entertaining car presenters on TH-cam.
He's been producing videos for Everyday Driver for a few months now - I think he's got at least half a dozen contributions. Tom has steadily improved his presenting game in each one.
Great review! this guy does a good job, likeable, not arrogant!
Good job Tom. I can't wait till those cars come here to the US. It looks like a blast to drive.
Still loving FK2, can't wait to get my hands on FK8
This guy, Tom, should have a TV show !
Affalterbach 1967 they do its on velocity it just start it.
Affalterbach 1967 he looks and sounds like bill Burr
Why is the tambourine so loud?
Wait, why is there even tambourine playing at all? It adds nothing but distraction.
Bob Hope cannot unhear...
That's the best European correspondent I've ever seen
270 km/h =~ 167 mph
holy shit in a honda civic
N1ckN1ck100 in a $40k Civic
Outdoor Layne Donald Trump..... WRONG!
dufftime not sold in US. WRONG!!!
Outdoor Layne yes, that 10th gen will start at $35k.
Still love this car & always will. If it's not my next car I'll be surprised
I like the wide angle country side shots you guys took for this vid.

I think this car looks like a ton of fun! I wish my wrx came with seats like that!

I'm excited about the upcoming Skoda review. They're doing some pretty interesting cars these days!
Those seats look glorious, I really miss having great seats.
My absolute dream car.
For a stranger this guy did pretty well i approve, more weird cars we dont get over here, this was awesome!
Had an FK2 for a year now. Don't know much about the Fiesta ST, but can you get lift off oversteer in the FK2? You certainly can, especially when you change from the standard (unfit for purpose) Conti 6's to better tyres.
The crazy german guy is back!
And hes been jumping on the seat half of the video! xD
He needs to do more reviews. They are great.
Sounds like there is substantial rev hang when shifting?
Who's this german Bill Burr?
CHAAWCOLATE you should email him this video and he'll probably have a rant about it on his next podcast
CHAAWCOLATE Yeah i thought he sounded like nick depaulo at times and now i realize i was thinking bill burr another boston guy
I thought he was American from NY/NJ; you know, the "Yo! Paulie!" type
I thought I was the only one thinking this xD
omg i lost it hahaha
This is by far the best looking in my op of the civic tyoe R...... ive got a 9th si and this the one they didnt let come to the states.... the coolest one 2!!
Question: At 5:48, do you need to heelNToe anymore on modern cars?
I'm subscribed for this guy
Awesome review. Keep them coming.
Is the music at the beginning a remake of the Top Gear soundtrack from SNES - Made me feel nostalgic AF
Waiting to see your review (in the US) on Civic Type R and it's comparison to Golf R, Focus RS.
I wish we had this car in the USA
Esp661 it's coming to usa, read the description box
But it's not THIS one! :p
Not this model. Read "9th Gen FK2"
It's an even better one!
It's not in Australia either
"Pontiac Aztek of hatchbacks" :D LOL, pretty accurate description. The civics of the 90's that really launched the import scene were popular cause they were so customizable. I like the looks. It's something exciting in a sea of conservative looking cars
Nice car and all, and I love Thomas and the video but I still find myself asking Honda: Where is the light, rear drive Miata competitor in your lineup?
Go buy an s2k then
Can you guys get him to do the GTI clubsport s? would love to see him review that.
Holy shit this looks SO much nicer than that deep sea fish version we are getting in the US. WTF Honda
Be glad we are getting one. We never gotten many of the previous typers because the market wasn't there. if you rather have a boring Golf R even with similar power nobody will notice you. that's your choice.
I think honda should make another CRX
Like this guy! More episodes with him!

for me, i wished it looked like it did in pre-release pictures..............

The original Sierra Cosworth already did the whole wing thing and did it well. Civic just looks fugly.

It’s an epic car
Are you Bill Burr's younger brother?
Guy sounds like he is from Boston
I would much rather have this great Type R generation over the crap 4-door family wagon we're getting in the U.S.
Looks like an Aztek to me lol
it looks like my grandmas station wagon
Looks like a Prius with a huge ass wing.
Damn give us sme new vids mate
this civic-r is awesome because it's gonna make b/k swaps swaps in older hondas more affordable.
why you compare the fiesta to civic? should compare C car to C car and not B car... Ford focus
looks like they took an STi bodykit and placed it on a Honda hatchback.
Inserts another "Should of came with 4-wheel drive" comment. /facepalm
who the fk needs a stereo when you got Type-R VTEC...!
Looks more like a Prius on steroids. And no Recaro seats on the Type-R com'on.
6:58 "Kamm - one"
you need to shift from 4th to 5th on 193 km/h man, too early shifts
