They are the most influential Japanese metal band ever. X Japan used to cover "In The Mirror" before they were signed. Taiji Sawada (RIP), also joined Loudness after leaving X Japan for a few years.

"M-Z-A!" means nothing, and it was intended to be replaced with another line in post-production. When Niihara couldn't come up with anything to replace it, the "M-Z-A!" chant survived.

GREAT choice! Killer band. The entire 'Thunder In The East' and 'Lightning Strikes' albums are metal masterpieces, with ungodly tone, riffing, and lead guitar! Akira Takasaki is considered by many to be in the upper echelon of the best metal guitarists that walked the planet!

Loudness have 27 albums in their discography. Quite insane. You should check out their 1992 album just called Loudness. It has Akira Takasaki on guitar, Munetaka Higuchi in drums RIP, Masaki Yamada on vocals ex-EZO and Taiji Sawada on bass ex X-Japan RIP. Very heavy album. Firestorm, Slaughter House, Waking the Dead, Black Widow and Everyone Lies. There are some great live recordings from that album. There are of course also a video of In the Mirror with american vocalist Mike Vescera

I actually got to see them live, when they opened for AC/DC in 1986. I really likes these guys and the cassette that this song is from, but I felt bad for them, cause alot of people were booing them, and yelling nasty shit about them. As for me though, I enjoyed their show, especially the guitar player, who is really good.

I always liked this band. They were a very good metal band with a great guitar player. As far as what the chant of MZA means? It doesn't mean anything. For years people would ask the band: “What do the letters M-Z-A mean?” And in an interview with the lead vocalist Minoru Niihara he said that it actually means nothing. He said while doing pre-production on their Thunder In The East album, the producer asked him to sing something for an unfinished part of the song and out came M-Z-A which ended up in the final track because the band couldn't find a line to replace it! But, Niihara has also said that in past interviews he would just tell people it means My Zebra’s Ass. lol

Everyone does this song. One of their weaker efforts in my opinion. Got forced into that over produced U. S sound of the time. Go for the older stuff, Crazy Doctor, In the Mirror, Speed, or any of the hundreds of tunes since 2001. Over 20 studio albums and still going
