Mayu calls him Beh-san. . . Dang, Hazuki!! She's played second-fiddle to Narumi, Li-sa-X, and Saki, but she is every bit as good. Some people actually seem surprised by how good Hazuki is, now that Nemophila are down to one guitar and she's doing all the playing, but I've seen her perform since her Disqualia days and she is absolutely first-rate. I remember an instrumental gig she did, separate from Nemophila, where she was sight-reading arrangements of up-tempo tunes with plenty of chord changes and taking extended ad lib solos, all effortlessly. I don't think she had much if any time to rehearse, because it was the day after a Nemophila show, but she made it look easy and sound great.

I would dare to say that it may be because of a difference in personalitiy. From what I observed it seems Narumi, Saki and (to a lesser extent) Li-sa-X have more dominant personalities and this makes them to draw more attention to themselves by putting themselves forward. Hazuki is highly skilled, but I bet it would be Saki doing those pick-slides or picking while bending with a whammy bar, if she was still in the band. I am really happy for Hazuki getting in the spotlight. 🙂

I've been drawn to her style since Nemophila first came out; she's got plenty of demo videos and what not for Ibanez guitars and of course her work with Li-sa-X band/Koiai, so I've been telling people for a while that she's a monster shredder and every bit as talented as the next guitarist! I'd love for her to do a solo album.!

@@Immortall1408 Yes, Hazuki has a low-key, mellow personality very much in contrast to Narumi and Saki, and as such I think was a perfect partner for them. Li-sa-X, certainly when she was younger (she's still young), was a bit awkward and nerdy, and I think Hazuki's mellow personality and mature playing was a perfect match for her too. Btw, I saw Li-sa-X at Naon no Yaon in May, and I was impressed by how much she has matured over the past few years as a person and player. I think Hazuki has had a good influence on her.

@@Vitericus1 I've seen Hazuki at a couple of instrumental shows unconnected with Disqualia and Nemophila, and what impressed me was her ad libbing ability displayed in extended solos. Good ideas and the technique to execute them.

Love it! The Haz'n'Hara machine is well oiled! "Looking like they're having fun" is one of the band's trademarks and, as well as all the accolades they've deservedly already racked up, they're also one of the best "cover bands" you'll ever find, and they always do them with maximum respect. NEMOPHILA forever ♥🤘

In the 80's Loudness guitarist Akira Takasaki was often called the Japanese Eddie Van Halen, which is kind of a lazy comparison imo because he has his own unique shredding style, especially in the way attacks with the pick and how he taps. Anyway, he's naturally an EVH guitar god Japan, but also one to a lot of guitar nerds worlwide. If you ever noticed the cool guitar Saki plays with one tuner on the bottom side of the headstock, that's a "Killer" brand guitar. Killer is a company co-founded by Akira, distributed by ESP and is considers a killer (no oun intended) guitar for metal. The brand name "Killer" is actually from the Japanese having fun on how they sometimes pronounce their "L"s like a "R", where the word (l)isten might come out sounding like (r)isten, so the word killer sounds like kirra which for rhe brand is a play on A(kira)'s first name. Also, as far as I know, Saki is the only artist endorsed by Killer guitars even though a few other guitarist in Japan play hem. As for Hazuki, she's a technical guitar wizard. Check out some of the videos she did for Ibanez where she's demo'ing her signature guitars and products. She plays really cool Steve Vai like technical pieces. Finally, on a side note, on a lot of these cover videos Tamu low key throws homage to the original drummers' style by adding a few of their tendencies, and it's soooo cute. LOL. I love this band, they always make me smile.

Loudness was the band that originally got me into Japanese metal! I believe this is Nemophila's second Loudness cover, the first being "Crazy Doctor." Interestingly, back when Saki was still in the band, she played a Killer brand guitar, which was designed by Loudness guitarist Akira Takasaki. Also pretty sure that is Mayu's baby. Both of Tamu's are older. Mayu had her baby near the end of 2022, I think. She was extremely pregnant when they played Aftershock in September 2022.

In Japan, NEMOPHILA invited LOUDONESS to perform last night.
The first half hour was LOUDNESS and the second half hour was NEMOHILA. Then, during NEMOHILA's encore, LOUDONESS' guitarist and vocalist joined in and performed 'CRAZY NIGHT' together.
It was an emotional live performance, with NEMOPHILA, running in the 2020s, collaborating with the iconic LOUDNESS of the 1980s!

The 80s metal riffs really showcase Hazuki's strongest characteristic as metal guitarist and her peers considered Hazuki as one of the masters in this art form.
In the past, she's often been in the shadow of other guitarists like the original NEMOPHILA lineups (SAKI), Li-sa-X BAND & KOIAI (Li-sa-X) or DISQUALIA (Narumi) but that just her being herself - who doesn't really looks comfortable with all the attention or rather the shy type. It was IBUKI who recognized Hazuki's talent and admire her natural down-to-earth approach despite her exceptional strength, which is one of the reason why IBUKI wanted her in DISQUALIA.
In 2018, SAKI invited Hazuki to play for the WORLD GUITAR GIRLS COLLECTION show and she was there playing side by side with 5 of what we considered as the top tier and among the best Japanese female guitarists - SAKI, YASHIRO, Ayumi, Marin Miyazawa and Hal-ca. Since WGGC concept is performing medley of well-known classic rock/metal song of all time, which is Hazuki's territory, she stole the spotlight that night and left an impression to the audience. When she was not on the lead role, rock/metal pundit on the scene recognized Hazuki presence that night as the only one who truly exhibit an exceptional skills on 80s and 90s riffs, which the pundit referred to as the master of 'royal heavy metal' playing style. 🤘🏻

You may not want to say it, but I will. 😇 Everything I've seen of Nemophila over the last few weeks gives me exactly that impression! They seem to have more fun doing what they do. More comfortable and a lot more carefree. Mayu has always been like that, but it's especially evident with Hazuki, Haraguchi-san and Tamu, in my opinion. Of course, when they've put their heads together to discuss how to continue with Nemo, they probably agreed that they would/must all fill the gap together, but it definitely doesn't look to me as if even one of them has a big problem with that. Quite the opposite. ❤‍🔥🤘🏻
