    I think my perfectionism is the reason my work caught people’s eyes early on. It didn’t feel like a problem until I stopped sketching out of fear of the sketches not being good enough. Love seeing your work and hearing your perspective as usual

    Thanks for sharing, I found it very helpful 😊 I recognize myself in these points of perfectionism very well. But I should just go for it and learn from any mistakes, that's the way to learn

    This is one of the most real videos about art I’ve ever seen. I usually try and stay away from certain art videos on TH-cam because I feel like they can sometime be really preachy, but the way you talk about art is super refreshing and I think overall very realistic and not blind sighted by anything. You’re a real one!! And this video is great, keep up the good work, your stuff seems really cool!!
    (And this was a great video to have show up in my recommended. I really needed to hear some things you talked about :’) 👍)

    I really like your take on this topic! Often people (myself included) focus on the bad side of perfectionism, without realizing that perfectionism is what motivates you to try more. You're right, its all about balance. :)

    • @vikartstuf
      @vikartstuf  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      a cool quote is that the perfect balance is to "get back to the carelessness of a kid with the experience you have now" but tbh im the one whos still too stiff and should learn something from u instead 😅✨

    I felt called out during the entirety of the video 😭 I feared drawing due to my perfection mindset quite a lot before maybe I still do a little now as well but it's getting better. Thank you the video really helped

    Nice video man, really hits on some important points to remember as person who struggles with perfectionism. Bonus tip from me: sometimes, it helps keeping things imperfect on purpose, so that you can realise that this doesn't ruin the whole project - most people won't even recognize. Especially holds true for details or side-tasks.
    Keep it up!

    Set a baseline. I have this one picture that I have selected and said "this is what Good Enough looks like." It's a single frame of anime from Studio Deen. It is, as anyone who knows Studio Deen can immediately assume, NOT perfect. Like, not even close. But as long as my work is THIS good, it is Good Enough and I do not have to do any more work on it. I can, if I want to, but I don't have to. I am allowed to stop here.
    But since I'm still not good enough to GET there in the first place, there's a second aspect to this. When I pull up that baseline today, I'm not checking if I am allowed to stop, I am looking for what I can realistically fix. What aspect of my current piece could I improve to be THIS good? Do I have the knowledge and skill to get closer to this, or have I got things to study and practice before I can do that?
    If I cannot reasonably expect to make my work more like the baseline, even though the work is not Good Enough, it is the best I can do right now. And if something is the best you can do right now, you need to get it out there and put it in front of people just to document where you've been. So people can see your journey. So YOU can see your journey.
    My first post on Cara got three likes. That is not a lot. But it is SOMETHING. And people got to see where I started.

      bro just randomly rocked up and dropped the best advice ever wtf 🔥🔥🔥 super useful! usually people (myself included) just use their best piece as standard (which is absolutely unreasonable since progression is never linear) thanks for sharing this :D
      also, good luck on your Art Journey!!!

    Problem is, even if we think to go without expectation, deep down, we have. So in order to combat this feeling of failure we have to understand what is our hidden expectation about it. The less you expect the more you got done.
    Keep the good job, cool video!
