    Just got my lip pierced 6 days ago. My piercer has been in the same building since 95 and has the best ratings in the whole central valley. My instructions were very simple. 4-5 times a day of non alcoholic mouthwash and twice a day antibacterial soap or preferably provin. I was a bit skeptical because it seemed so little but its healing extremely well so far. I'm having no trouble at all. Love your content Davo ✌ PS he also suggested no cbr's or Circular barbells for 6 months but I still plan on getting one around new year's. Didn't recommend anything other than a labret. So I trusted him. Guys been doing it for almost 25 years with a 5 star review...any opinion Davo?

      It depends on the angle of the piercing but you may have issues wearing circular jewelry in the piercings.

    Hi! I’m planning on getting my lip piercing on Monday and I’ve heard very different things about cleaning and the pros/con. All my mother has talked about is how it may affect my gums/teeth, is there any way I can prevent those things? I know this is a weird question but I’m trying to be as educated as possible before doing something like this. Is the soap like in a bar or a hand soap? How can I tell when I can eat other foods? Does it affect how you should brush your teeth? I’m sorry if this is odd but I’m curious. Love your content!

      This is an older video, I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated.
      The main thing is to find a skilled and experienced piercer that can place the piercings where they will do the least amount of damage. Also having the correct jewelry size and type and removing the jewelry at the first sign of issues.
      Food wise, if the swelling is completely gone, you can try eating other foods. Listen to your body, if it hurts don't eat it.

    I was told by my piercer to wash the outside with antibacterial soap 3x daily, rinse with mouth wash (alcohol free) after everytime i eat or drink anything other than water. Said no sea salt though...When I got my belly button done by someone else I was told to do salt water soaks for 2 weeks...Opinion?

      The rinsing only 4 to 5 times daily. Rinsing too much can lead to thrush and prolonged swelling and healing.
      The reason we suggest cleaning with soap is as a precaution. Chance ate you are going to contaminate the area by mistake at least once. Three times a day is a little overboard. I've in fact been scaling back on suggesting even twice daily. I suggest once a day and if you think you may have contaminated the area, a second time. I would suggest proven or satin, dial works in a pinch.
      Sea salt soaks or compresses should be fine twice daily. Make sure to rinse afterwards under running water. It help ls speed up healing, draws waste from the piercing, will be reduce swelling and is soothing. Sterile saline sprays can be used with good results.
      Two weeks for a navel really isn't close to long enough and wasn't healed. You would have had an easier and faster heal by doing it longer. Understand that you could do nothing and given enough time, the piercing will heal. We suggest aftercare to avoid infection or other issues and make the healing as quick as possible. We base this on our clients experiences and our own when healing piercings. One thing is certain there is no 100% right way to care for a piercing, we each react and heal differently and what works great for one person can be a curse to someone else. It's easier to say what doesn't work than what does.

      @@BodyPiercingTattooing any idea why he would say not to do salt water soaks or rinses?
      I'm someone, due to a genetic condition, that had to have majority of my teeth removed and had a lot of infections prior to removal, so if just mouthwash and soap will prevent an infection great...But if salt water would help more then I'd like to know. When I had dental infections, I used salt water (with antibiotics of course) to help draw out the infection and soothe the area per doctor recommendations. So if there isn't an inflection, should I hold of on salt water?
      Also, the belly button healed phenomenally, i continued to wash it every day fir 6 months but was only told to do salt water for two weeks or if it ever got irritated/showed signs of infection.

    That moment when I'm waiting until after my dentist appointment 3 months from now to get snake bites and I'm remembering after watching this video that I need to chew slower so I don't bite the inside of my cheek or lip lmao 😅 it happens with anything really but at random and at a minimum thank god but my jaw jerks a tiny bit causing me to bite by accident. Regardless, awesome video as always!!!

    Wow. I had my lip/labret done about a week ago and they told me they don't start with a ring. I wanted a ring because its what i plan on wearing but they gave me a straight bar; flat on the inside with a spike on the outside 😳

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is often a much easier heal with a post. Now a spike is just inviting everything to catch on the jewelry. Please be careful. I would suggest waiting 6-12 months before switching to a ring.

      @@BodyPiercingTattooing They side they'd change it out in 2 months but you are right because it's not doing anything weird but it feels like it's not ready yet.

      The key is if you start to notice issues, change back to a stud.

      @BodyPiercingTattooing  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry it took me a while to get to this. I'm hoping that it stopped. Lips can do this sometimes because a vessel was nicked. If it doesn't stop remove the jewelry and it should. If that doesn't stop it seek medical attention.

    Hello!! I’ve had my labret in for about 11 months. How can I tell if it’s completely healed to the point where I can take my jewelry out during work? Pls and thank you 🙏🏼

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With oral piercings I usually don't suggest leaving the jewelry out for any extended period of time. There are some people that can after a year leave the jewelry out for weeks and have no issue with the piercing closing. That is the exception. Most will have issues getting the jewelry back in after a few hours.
      What I suggest is to test how long you can leave it out before it's an issue. Start by taking the jewelry out for a half an hour and slowly increase it from there. Also it's a good idea to spread it out over a number of days and to use a guide pin and a water based lubricant when putting the jewelry back in.

    If I rinse after every meal, and I eat twice a day then that means I rinse twice a day. Is that okay? And can I use water/salt mix on the outside instead of buying some of the others you listed off? Or possibly using the salt mixture and alcohol free mouthwash, would that be enough?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I currently suggest rinsing with a non-alcoholic mouthwash twice daily and with a saline mixture two or three times daily.

    i got my lip pierced today and it’s been 9 hours since it was pierced and it’s very swollen and hurts to touch. white puss came out of the front a few minutes ago. i don’t have the money right now to get the soaps and saline :(( any advice to heal my piercing fast and safely?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, you are going to need saline, sea salt, distilled water and an alcoholic free mouthwash like biotene. You should have known that in advance.
      As far as swelling and etc... Sounds like normal reaction to the trauma.

    What moisturizers would be safe to use for our lips with the lip piercing? It's damn near impossible to wear anything of the sort without it getting on the piercing

    • @kukurudza0o
      @kukurudza0o 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      vaseline

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is best to not to use anything in the area until the piercing is healed.

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not suggest using vaseline. It is petroleum based if it got in the piercing, it could cause blockage and will create a film that will collect dirt, debris and bacteria.

  • @shianneb

    Is there any suggestions you can make that can help keep our lips moisturized with the piercing since we arent able to put anything on them I'm sure they'll get dry or chapped

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      You can use moisturizers as long as you avoid the piercing area.

    I had my lips pierced, but the jewelry he used my lip healed over a flat metal plate that was too small ig. then it started bubbling and I couldn't do it anymore. I also had a eyebrow straight bar, it healed up but then it pushed it's self out after 7-8 months. Is my skin maybe irritated by the type of metal? Any tips cuz I miss all my metal, I still have my nose pierced but it stinks like it's infected from time

    Is it ok to brush teeth while healing lip piercing?

      @Melena.. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I brush my teeth everyday! Also when it’s healing I think it’s good because you eat a lot of food and drink everyday, so I think you just do as normal while cleaning your piercing, that’s what I do

    If i rinse with mouthwash after every meal and do sea salt mixes in the morning and at night for the inside and do a saline solution on the outside twice a day is that ok and will my piercing heal fine?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Usually rinsing a few times a day with non-alcoholic mouthwash and saline. If you practice cross contamination prevention and downsize the jewelry, the piercing should heal fine.

      Body Piercing & Tattooing Ok. The place im looking at to get pierced says 18g ring for a lip piercing so does that mean the needle is 18g or the jewlery? and what should i downsize to if it is 18g jewlery?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      The jewelry and needle will be the same size. I really would suggest 16g or larger.
