Thank you, again. I love seeing the evolution of your gear over the last couple years. And that you actually use it and try out new stuff. And explain what works or doesn't and why. Super helpful for me and my friends. Thanks.
Love my Born Outdoor Badger Bed as well! It’s super comfortable and way burly. Cara is going to love it. 🙌 Thanks for the 10% discount code because I need another quilt.
Cool see you adding the Badger Bed to your list! I've had mine for over a year and just love it because it just works. I've slept in it 45 days plus on the ground, on a cot, in a RTT, in my vehicle and on my buddy's floor! Cara will sleep well in it!
Purchased the Badger bed system last year and love it! I didn't get their mattress b/c I have have the Exped mega mat and that thing fits and is very comfortable. BUT you left out the most important and best camping gear - The Roperollers by Rollercam - Man those things are a God-send. 😄😄
Stanley makes a smaller pot kit called the Adventure Camp Cook Set similar to the Gerber that might work good for you. I have one and use it for camping and enjoy it. Bonus is that it works with an induction cook top.
Thanks for taking the time to do gear reviews and show us what you're using. There's so much stuff out there, it helps those of us who aren't as experienced know some of the things that are worth the hard-earned money.
Re: Cooksets - if you want a somewhat smaller version of that Gerber cookset, look at the Stanley Adventure Camp Even Heat Pro Cook Set. Very high quality.
On the stay clean topic. We are an amateur over landing couple. But we installed a water tank with an electric pump. With a garden hose and a shower handle. We have both a shower and a way to easily clean dishes. I don’t know why we are the only ones doing it like that.
I've been using the Dometic go camp chair this past season because it packs up tight and is very comfortable. But that cliq chair is tempting. I hate to admit that I've spent so much on different chairs and they're all just too big.
I love our Dometic Go chairs too. I’ve had rockers and others in the past. Personally I like having armrests. The new click chair being a bit bigger and in a small package is appealing.
We carry a ARB 50qt two section and it has worked best whether our trip is a week or when we went three months traveling to Alaska. We travel in a F-150 pulling a nucamp 400 BDL and the ARB sits behind the front passenger seat (that section of the back seat lifts up. We can get about 4-5 days worth of food and then another 2-3 in the fridge in our nucamp. For power, during travel the ARB runs off the truck DC (nice port on the back of the console). If we park for a break of longer than an hour, I have a small lithium battery system that I’ll plug the ARB into. In an emergency, it can ran the ARB for almost 18-hrs. Have the original Fire Can and just a few weeks ago on a camping trip, we used a medium size Dutch Oven skillet and cooked breakfast and dinner. Did cook one meal with a small skillet but had to be very careful it tipped off the Fire Can.
Hey bud, this is Huel saw you along with thousands of other folks at the Overland expo in Loveland a couple times. I'm the one that told you I had badge envy.😂🤷🏼♂️ checking this video out as we overland more and more. Hope you're having a great week brother adios.
Honestly, on the fridge thing.... We have given up cold drinks for room temp. That completely solves an issues with room. We keep small snacks around as well. Two of us and our dog. We could manage a week with 45L
for the origami chair, I use a one tigris high back chair for backpacking trips. its heavier for backpacking and doesnt have the wide foot pieces so can sink into soft ground but theyre rated for over 300 lbs and me at 6'2 and 280 sits in them just fine. had far more back support too. Still have to put it together though lol.
Thanks, I purchased the Cliq Riveria, haven't been on a trip with it yet, but is comfy. I have the Genesis Basecamp stove, but do not use the pots. I like a cast iron skillet and a couple light weight Stanley stainless pots. And a cast iron stovetop Dutch oven. Thanks for the reviews.
Great video, loves these longer form reviews of what you do and don't use and why. Look forward to seeing your comparison of the Camplux Nano 3 and the Companion water heaters.
Well, I am late to this party. I am a new overlander and learning a bunch from you and a couple of others. I did want to try to add this to the knowledge bank: if you put a cup of white vinegar (the cheap stuff) in that stainless pan and let it sit for a day or two it will be shiny clean again! Thanks for a good video!
For camp chairs, I will allow for extra space to bring along my GCI Freestyle Rocker. I'm a bigger person and it holds my bulk nicely, and rocking in front of a campfire seriously can't be beat. I also have the GCI Roadtrip Rocker that packs down nicely, but if I had to choose one or the other, with space not a consideration, the Freestyle rocker would be my choice. I'm intrigued by the Front Runner for size considerations, but I'm not entirely sure it would be comfortable for a Gentleman Of Unusual Size. I may try one out this year and see.
Clic chair looks sweet. I would prefer one with a higher back like the 'wind chime chair' I currently use. I have the Jetboil Genesis Basecamp. The included pot and pan are generous but not oversized. I also have a smaller MSR 4 pot kit for the times I don't need the larger ones. I agree about the GerberGear ComplEAT set. I almost pulled the trigger on it but I have enough pots. The ability to stack everything in one kit is a nice feature but not worth the price. I would consider ditching the MSR kit if Gerber came out with a 2 person kit like you mentioned. IIRC, the bag for the kit can be used as a wash sink? We bought the InstaPrivy last year but haven't gone out where we have needed to use it yet. It currently sits in the Jeep for those "just in case" situations. You never know when nature is going to suddenly call!
I was about the goal zero light pole. I’m so glad I saw your review first. I pulled the trigger and purchased the lightranger mid video. I also purchased the filter kit and battery pack as well.
Hi Mat, A good vid idea for a nube like me would be how you deal with nitty gritty camping duties that no one addresses....i.e. do you just dump garbage in your tailgate garbage bag and wash it out when you get home, or do you use liners? How do you clean your kitchen gear after a meal? (pots, pans, silverware cups etc.) Water being at a premium. It would seem to me some kind of clean up would be required to keep large 4 legged omnivores out of your tent at night. Sorry for being a noodle head about this... Karl
That's the biggest issue with truck bed stuff. Everything gets dusty and wet. The best solution having an enclosed bed cover. But that's not always practical. I currently keep Everything in sealed tool boxes. Things are clean but unorganized
They do have a down blankets and you can layer them so you can add a second one to make it warmer. Matt showed us Cara’s bedroll with her two quilt setup. It really is a great sleep system because it just works. 👍
WRT the Cliq chair. I've got a great chair (BIG) with "hard" (important ) arm rests that I pull out when we are staying for more than a night or two. . As much as I like my Helinox style chair for a quick and dirty chill fest for long term lounging - Hard Arm Rests (a/w drink & phone holder) R GOLD... So - Do you miss not having a proper hard arm rest on the Cliq???
I watched your gear favorites ftom 2 years ago, the only thing left from that video is the lil propane tank 😂.. you literally have new everything.. As far as fridges go, the ARB elements fridge has been in my truck for 5 years now, it's survived out in the elements, no issue , great fridge, 63Qt
Matt, for some new sleep systems please look into Zenbivy sleep systems. Mike the owner has EXPED style foam self inflating pads, along with some blow up ones and all 5 r value or above. BUT, it’s their sheet and down quilts that blow me away. And I think you two would appreciate their size, to feel, to warmth. Check em out and see if Mike would send you a few down options and their 30 inch wide pad pads.
Great review. You have the best Overlanding channel no doubt. If you see a Sarge green Gladiator fully fitted out just like Tully, it’s probably me copying you!
Great video. One comment on the Cliq chairs. We have 4 of the originals and I love everything about them except the rubber feet wore out very quickly on all 4, and there is no way to replace them (I checked with Cliq). Fine on a hard surface, but in dirt or sand, the metal legs without the rubber feet sink easily. My only complaint with them, and the reason I won't replace them.
@@steenhenninger9920 I contacted support and they sent me new feet no questions asked. Material felt more rugged to me. You’ll pry my original cliq chair from my cold dead hands. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
Thanks for another great post Matt. Truly enjoy your videos. Some of these are truly innovative products and so glad these small US companies are developing them. Just wish they were a little more affordable for us part timers.
I tried a cliq chair but didn't like the lack of armrests, and forced recline position. I switched to a front runner expander, which is way more comfortable and still folds up relatively compact. I still keep the cliq chair for when space is at an absolute premium but for most uses I think the expander is just better
Thanks for the discount code. Will be using it. Sure like to see your hammock rig if there not there. Got to if I can make it work with my Draumr by Amok equipment. Very unique hammock.
My posts keep getting deleted for some reason. I don't get it. Check out the Oxo carbon steel pans with removable handles. All the benefits of cast iron at a fraction of the weight. Plus the removable handles make them great for packing and space saving.
Rux 70L bin is $379 CDN for a soft shell bin. Price and value for money matters. So many of these items are 'sent to' you and likely free. Would love an overlanding channel that buys everything and backs up their purchases with a solid review and rigorous field testing.
Love your reviews of the stuff you actually use and really put through their paces. It would be good to know from the viewer's standpoint what you purchased and what was given to you. I'm probably more forgiving on drawbacks if it's free, but like that Rux bag - it's great, but for $300 I'll find a more budget option, plus all of the other add ons you had it's closer to $500...to store chips and bread. If I got it for free, it would be great.
My clik chair bottom leg rubber just fell off today and I haven’t used it too much out champing I just had it for a bout two years and the rubber turned to plastic and just fell off.
Hey Matt, check out the following 2 burner stove. BRS-32 Portable Camping Stove, Foldable. This is a stove that was on youtuber TheOutdoorGearReview. I bought it and love this one. One connection for 2 burners, you can easily get the adapter for propane or use the ISO Butane bottles also. Love this one and very compact. Check it out!
Have you considered going electric for cooking with an induction cooktop? I am in the process of buying stuff for overlanding and think it would be good to eliminate the need to carry fuel. Great video, Thank you!
Excellent video. I have an Iceco VL45Pro fridge that opens on the long side. Do you think that Iceco drawer/slide you have will pull out far enough for this fridge to clear a Vector Offroad Highland shelf and open? It would be mounted in a JLU Wrangler.
Hey Matt! I watch all your videos. We have been slowly getting gear. I always like your reviews. We just got the Devos Light Ranger and The Iceco VL65 because of this video. Thanks for the links and dicount code! With the dual zone fidge, what do you keep you temps at when you're on the trail? Freezer side temp and fridge side temp? Thanks, and keep up the awesome channel!
great gear video Matt... like some one else said, let us know if there is a garage sale in the future..wink wink... since i missed gettin a slot on the patreon trip by about 12 seconds, i guess I will see you next at Moore Expo...i might be nearby at a friends house (jalapeno deer sausage) for the eclipse if y'all are home/in the area....
Bought two Lightranger 2000 just recieved. One wouldnt keep a charge, would over heat while charging and had broken pipe clamps...just screamed "used". For the price and for what it is... i wasnt expecting any issues with these lights right out the box so far not really thrilled about the expected longevity. Lets see how customrr service handles this.
Hey Matt thanks again for great video. Any thoughts on the bluetti swapsolo portable fridge/freezer with rechargeable battery packs? Seems like a great solution to avoid hardwiring into truck. Thanks
I have one and will have a video out later this month. I did a preview in this video - th-cam.com/video/mD05dWXAthI/w-d-xo.html - and initial impressions are high.
what are you all at OOA doing for the eclipse? I have a group coming down to southern MO to check it out. can't wait to check out some trails the weekend before the eclipse!! sorry if you've covered this in any recent videos. I'm a little behind. thanks for all the great content!!
Hey Matt, thanks for the gear review. I've been waiting on my new Ranger Raptor for months now, and have been considering getting a GFC or Topo Topper for it. Do you have any insight into these, and have you considered upgrading to one? I've also been leaning towards getting an UEV 490 or a Dweller 13. Do you still have your UEV, and how has it held up these past couple of years? Thank you sir.
Thank you, again. I love seeing the evolution of your gear over the last couple years. And that you actually use it and try out new stuff. And explain what works or doesn't and why. Super helpful for me and my friends. Thanks.

These items were great suggestions thanks
You are so welcome!
what are you all at OOA doing for the eclipse? I have a group coming down to southern MO to check it out. can't wait to check out some trails the weekend before the eclipse!! sorry if you've covered this in any recent videos. I'm a little behind. thanks for all the great content!!
Its going right over our house so we will probably watch it at home. lol
enjoy the show! cheers!
Awesome content mate and a new subscriber from Queensland australia
Thanks and welcome
Great video bro, I guess I need to spend some more money 😂. Hoping you hit that 10k subs very soon! Rootin for ya!
Appreciate it!!
Curious why now just run a topper -aka camper shell - to keep the dust and weather off all your gear in the back instead of that rack system?
They look hideous. 😂
have you done a video on the shower systems? I can not find it
Not a stand alone video. Probably should.
I’m confused as to why you bought the Gerber gear pot and pan set if you knew it was too big to begin with.
because I wanted to try it and see if it would work for me.
What trash bag ate you using on the gladiator
at 11:00 the "its dumb" lol we've all been there.
