Gorgeous campsite with the ferns! I bought a rotomolded cooler this year, yeah it was pricey but I used one bag of ice for 5 days. The Coleman’s I need to re-up the ice daily. I’d never go back.
I enjoyed this. I’ve just started camping so my daughter has the experience, but we’ve both been loving it! I picked up quite a few tips and ideas from this video, so thank you!
Wonderful video with lots of great tips! One to add- If you don’t have an insulated air mattress/pad, I’ve had good luck just putting a wool blanket over it. Loudly second the purchase of local firewood. And one of the most wonderful winter camping moments I had last year was finding my thick wool socks in the bottom of my sleeping bag in the middle of the night. 😂 So, thick wool socks.
great little video, thank you. I also think an essential is how you have your "bathroom" set up. it's important to be responsible with out "waste" how does your family responsibility take care of the if you're not in a campground where there may be a toilet.
NGL probably #1 on my list for bad weather state park camping is cold beer. Heat, humidity, heavy bug pressure, even crumby campsite neighbors all bother me a lot less.
Just a heads up for ya, as I see this quite often across various youtube videos. Using a non stick pan after is has been scratched (to bare metal), and definitely scraped up like yours is very bad for your health. Just a small scratch releases TONS of nasty chemicals. You can research the subject if you like. I'd personally recommend carbon steel for camping (very similar to cast iron but not as heavy.) Anything other than teflon/non stick stuff.
Fantastic video. Well presented 😅 Love ❤️ from AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 ❤ we kove camping. Well accommodation is ridiculous expensive. Amd AUSTRALIA is not dog friendly 😢
To start camping, you don't need any gear. Some campsite have small cottages with beds, sheets, utensils and everything. You just need to get there. If you want to camp in a tent, you need a tent obviously and a blanket or a sleeping bag. It's up to you how you want to camp and how much you want to buy, but you definitely don't need to buy everything before you even start and definitely don't have to spend a fortune. Start light, with campsite, weather, distance and spending. Don't listen to people saying this is camping, that is not camping... if you're setting up camp outside your house, you're camping!
@@adidas4275 First aid is so 1st that I don't even think about it. In my country first aid kit is mandatory car equipment, and every work environment (including shops and stores) are required by law to have a large first aid kit with up to date medical supplies. I carry a boo-boo kit so I don't have to open car med kit for minor scratches and what not.
Wait, what cooler did you bring on this trip? Do you happen to have any recommendations on coolers? 😂 Thanks for another great video, peace and positivity from CA
@@theoutdoorempire right on, I like the idea of using the 2nd cooler as a lockable “bear bin”! We bought a Cordova after your factory tour video. Thanks for all the awesome content, those cooler mega comparison videos are epic
How do you camp without a Dyneema tent? Sure, they are expensive and sound like someone is shaking a plastic bag full of seashells if it rains, but..... Dyneeeeema.

My essentials: tent, insulated sleeping pad, sleeping bag, toiletries, change of clothes, folding or bag chair, stove, kitchenware, food, drink, lantern, flashlight.
That'll do the trick.
first aid and comms, water filtration
More YTers should do videos like this. Real life, in the moment videos of what is being used and why. Great content.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
Great video! Just get a new pan so your family isn't eating PFAS "forever chemicals" from the old teflon.
My wife said the same thing. It's in progress thanks!

Nice call on that cooler. And yes, this spot was beautiful. In Olympic National Park.

Good advice. We use carbon steel at home now.
I got to be able to get up off the ground, I have a 21 in high air mattress, use cooling sheets 😎
Thank you 😊
Excellent video

Thank you!
This was such a great overview!
Great video. For your health/safety, please throw away the old frying pan.
My wife just ordered a cast iron one for our camp kit. 👍
Really cold SODA huh? 😂
Yep, I'm a pretty boring guy as it turns out.
Fantastic video. Well presented 😅

Thanks for the shout out from Australia. I love your country, hope to take my kids back to go camping there one day.

Great Video! However...Coffee should be #1 on the list! 😂

First aid should be 1st

Do I??? Watch about half my other videos on coolers 😂. This one was a Canyon Outfitter and I also had a Kong on this trip.

Hahaha. I camp so hard my underpants are made of dyneema.
What air mattress are those?
Been using a cheap 2 person Coleman tent for about 8 years. Refuses to die, not allowing me an excuse to buy a new tent.
What if i have to take poop??
Then I recommend you do so.
Those metal dishes are not good. Too hot to handle.
Interesting point. I can see that if your food is really hot and you're not eating at a table.
