Nice job! I was thinking of doing this with my motorcycle exhaust. Is it beneficial to do a 2nd, 3rd coat at all? The more coats, the longer lasting that you know of?
Not first hand no. I have been told that they ones ive done kept the engine bay temps down. Also that they could touch the pipes after the car was idling even after 15-20 minutes.
Got a brand new turbo for my 1st Gen Cummins. I was thinking header paint......naw......cerakote! I am thinking the entire brand new 4" exhaust system.
Shane did my turbo hotside for my Mustang... Temps dropped under the hood. After 10-15 minutes of idle time, I was able to place my hand on the headers with no problem. Here is the video link he spoke of in the video... th-cam.com/video/0-eDmkYMUAs/w-d-xo.html
Great Video, how much of the Cerakote did you need for those parts, it needs to be applied single Layer, right? Would really like to coat my exhaust parts, sadly in Europe/Austria it's pretty Expensive (230$ for the 32oz/946ml)
you asked for pointers so ill just say, try and get an independent microphone instead of using the gopro internal one because its nutty loud when you mount it on something or bump it while carrying it. Other thing is maybe dont use all the default songs from final cut (?) Otherwise nice vid, thanks for sharing
I don’t think so. You don’t need a large compressor if that’s what you’re worried about. I’ve even seen it done with an air brush. There is also something you can buy from Home Depot that will allow you to make your own arisol sprayer. It’s by Preval.
that application couldn't of lasted long... also what about all the neighbors cars? lol, no way would spraying in the front yard like that ever last long here...lol cerakote requires a specific tip size .80 . the HF gun I believe is like a 1.0 or larger.
Its been a year so far and they have had no issues, so yeah its holding up fine. And I have never had any issues with over spray on the neighbors cars. And yes you are 100% correct that they say to use a .8 tip and the harbor freight gun I was using was just that a .8, maybe you should do a little more research instead of trying yo come on and blast someone for something you may not know about. That's just my .02. But hey thanks for the views, its great appreciated.
Nice work bro, and thanks for the video!
Going to do the same for my bike
Hell yeah! Thanks for watching!!
Nice job. Except no plastic spray cups. Says in instructions need a metal spray cup.
Thanks for the video. What tip are you shooting Cerakote with ?
I like your paint booth!
Thanks
How much product did you end up using?
Great project and video. Thanks for sharing.
Looks good bro
you should of told folks its mandatory to media blast with aluminum oxide prior to painting

Any idea on temp differences?

What size compressor are you running to spray the Cerakote?
Where can I buy a bottle of that cerakote
From Cerakote.com
How does this hold up to heat over time for like a daily driver?
I have not done it on any daily drivers so I couldn't tell you from experience. However I have heard from others that it holds up real well.

I bought 32oz myself and still have have the bottle left. I’ve done a few cars with that.

Yeah it’s still a work in progress. Thank you for the tip. Much appreciated.
Could this be brushed on?
