18:11 No, you can't see their hp anymore unless you shoot them. Sombra doesn't have her opportunist passive anymore. However, even without the old passive, if I saw a Mercy alone burning from Ashe's dynamite in that corner, I would soon turn it into a crime scene.
That beginning sequence really feels like they have a hard time getting into a groove. Either that or Moira flaming them made them channel some inner demons
Yeah as a kiri main the who can handle sombra pretty well, the only way I die is if they lead with virus and then ding my head like a school bell. Hard to react to even with suzu up. You can garuntee with hack only if you're so close up against me that the virus goes straight up my *ss.
@BrandonShimizu is the same as a brig main. I do my best. If lucky I get behind cover asap and can sometimes wait out to heal up or survive and get help, etc. It's still annoying either way, especially how much damage the virus does. 😒
It's always funny to me seeing instances of people flaming a teammate because you know everyone that does that completely forgets the next game they play since they've already picked someone else to talk shit to.
What? That’s such a bad comment. Poke damage is pointless especially since passive healing. lol. Sometimes a Sombra is standing and waiting for the team to actually press w and push in so they can take advantage of the mayhem. It’s called coordination.
Oh and emong literally just said she isn’t high DPS. lol. My god. The irony given the start of the video talks about idiots telling others how to play Sombra when they don’t.
@@razerow3391 alright so you're an idiot. Poke damage is still damage which increases your ult charge. As for what Emongg said that's true because Sombra is a utility character. However, this player didn't use her utility so at least do some damage until you find am opening if nothing else. That's how you properly play Sombra. Got it dummy?
@@razerow3391no he’s right in a sense. I’m a masters sombra main and by far one of the easiest mistakes is playing too passive. It’s very easy to be hiding in their backline waiting for an opportunity, and then you team all dies so you’re left just waiting for them to return, essentially meaning your team just played a 4v5 feeding the enemy ult charge, while you earned literally none. The rule of thumb is to try to engage right as your team does. Attack them from an off angle so they’re forced to turn around and look at you, distracting them from the rest of your team. You shouldn’t always wait for a prime 1v1 opportunity. Even if you don’t secure any kills, you’re pressuring their backline, giving your team an advantage by essentially splitting the enemy team in half. They can’t deal with you and your team at the same time without putting themselves in a position that gives your team the advantage. It’s something that I really picked up on by watching Questron’s educational videos, and I try to make sure I don’t play passive in my own games. Like I say, it’s incredibly easy to do, especially if your team isn’t very coordinated. A lot of the time it mightn’t even be your fault. Your team snowballing after every second fight or something. But if you want to make Sombra work on a team like that, YOU have to adjust your play style to play around them (Fitzy would often refer to this as “playing closer with the team”, which is in essence the same principle, even if he doesn’t explain it as well as Questron)
@@razerow3391poke damage isn't pointless because as the other guy said, it helps to build ult. And yes Sombra can be a hero that is coordination based, but at the same time you're still a DPS and should be going for plays, like always looking for isolated targets and such. Just prioritize uptime in fights
Starting off with a hack was the old rotation so I get why they're doing it, but that's just a great lesson on you have to think of why you're using abilities. Like with the failed Junk kill you hsould have thought "there is a lot of cover, let me put dot on him and then shoot".
My biggest tip for Sombra, especially if you are playing alone and don’t feel like being in voice chat, spam your ult charge button when EMP is ready. It’s a good way to see if your team listens or not. Also some teams I play Sombra with just don’t know how to play with a Sombra so sometimes you just gotta switch. 😅
i'd say hack characters w/ movement abilities, virus the others. i play moira and if a sombra lead with virus i kinda have the upper hand. i'll just use fade and get away, and as a bonus get rid of virus instantly 'cause fade cleanses it
moira is a bit different tho; most movement abilities don't cleanse and if you do enough damage, the virus will do the rest unless they get actively healed or find a health pack in time, regardless of whether or not they use their movement. the only time you should be hacking to engage is if you know they can counter you instantly (eg dva zarya etc) or the hack IS the engage, such as to provide your team with an opening (eg hacking dva so your own zarya can grav without it being eaten). otherwise, always engage with virus->dmg or dmg->virus and save hack for more critical moments like those mentioned above.
I can understand when people are mad they tend to lose a chunk of IQ. But Overwatch has shown me some of if not the absolute dumbest people I've ever encountered online.
I actually agree with his decision to not engage early. He was alone and there was a Moira. He was probably waiting for a clear straggler. Honestly I thought he was an awful player until he picked up the pace. Real mix of inexperience and actually really good plays and tracking
One thing that helped me to play Sombra as a bronze dps at the time when I had no clue how to play her was watching Questron, a GM Sombra player. Obviously you can't replicate alot of what high level players do because their mechanics and knowledge of the character has been mastered fully. But what helped me watching Questron was where he said you always want to have little 'downtime' with Sombra. Basically what he ment was even though Sombra is a stealthy character, you want to avoid the trap of staying out of fights. You always want to be going in with stealth>go for a pick with hack/virus>translocate out>repeat. If you kill them great, if not owell try again or on another target. Also he said avoid playing Sombra 76, or in the frontlines too much because her strength lies in off angles and making the enemy team look away from your team.
thanks for the tips emong & everyone in the comments! imma try to include all these suggestions & hopefully i can rank up past plat. I was 1 game away from plat but i ended up falling, TRULY APPRECIATE IT!
as for the last second, i knew it was my fault because i had thought coming out of stealth at .1 would count but i mis-timed it. also, when should i hack first or virus first? thanks again everyone!
had the whole i get the hero first other support picks on me thing happen in a game, at the end of the game they actually APOLOGIZED (crazy i know) and said i did better than what they would’ve done. pretty wholesome moment
I’ve been playing a lot of Sombra lately. People really don’t understand how Sombra is supposed to play so they always complain about low dmg or low kills. But distracting the team alone is enough for a lot of games. And for some reason they always want me to group up when I’m playing health packs in their back line.
I feel that tbh. I once got flamed for having low damage on reaper... Because I was doing my job and getting quick and efficient picks, rather than staying glued to the enemy tank all the time. Honestly I feel that way too many people focus too heavily on stats than the actual gameplay sometimes, and it's really disencouraging for me to even consider queuing comp because your stats are judged so heavily there.
I started stress crying mid-game from playing Sombra with my team yapping in my ear. I had the most kills but they were on me about me attacking the backline. 😢
Seeing the Junkrat with 10 hp with no one healing them just waddle off and make it to full health while Sombra just stood there and watched hurt my soul 😂
As a Sombra player, too many times they were taking an angle too similar to their teams. One of Sombras key advantages is being able to get behind and force the other team to look for you. Even if you can’t secure picks, if you can keep them looking, it will help your team. Good Sombras sow chaos.
As a sombra myself, I can happily say this person played really well. It had some minor things he could twik to have more impact. But overall played really well, screw that moira
Loving your spectating videos man! I have been watching them all. Perfect for when I just want to *vibe* and watch Overwatch. Much less enraging than playing the real game.
I had someone who was support when I was Rein. They started as Ana and then swapped to Brigette. The guy went out into the open and put himself into positions were he could get picked off. Then he swapped to Brigette and then only hit people without ever using his repair packs. Keep in mind that I was a huge part of why we made it to the end moving us forward blocking what I could and creating space when the chance presented itself. We were literally on the win and him not using his packs was the difference. Instead of acknowledging his mistakes he blames me. I promise you I died more times than I should because he didn't once use those packs. At times I genuinely think people are.... they are in a place in life or of mind that they just do this on purpose. They need to throw someone under the bus so they can get some sort of validation.

when im playing as dps i main Reaper. i was support during one game (i queue for all) and we had a Reaper that was struggling. i have social anxiety so i didnt say anything, but i had my husband go into voice chat (he was playing Bastion) and tell him where to flank, how to use his abilities and when to use them, and told him when to sneak in for his death blossom. my husband doesn’t know how to play Reaper well so i was relaying the messages. he went from 1k damage, 2 kills, and 4 deaths in 2 min to 5k damage, 1k healing, 15 kills, and 5 deaths by the end of the game. he typed “thank you!” in match chat and my husband let him know that there’s tutorials on how to play each hero well on YT and that’s how i started popping off. i will never flame people who are clearly struggling because i was (and still do sometimes) struggling at one point and remember how difficult it was to get better while constantly being flamed.
17:34 yeah, we all saw the same, but no, They didn't know that the Junk was low because in normal gameplay you can't see other people's HP all the time like in spectator mode.
I would suggest practice virus first and shoot like emongg said, i used to do hack virus cause I'm so used with the old Sombra, but lately I've been doing virus shoot because I saw that even throwing virus can make em panic, so even if you can't get close to them, just throw virus and shoot from far away to just make them look at you 🤣
This reminds me of a tank complaining about me being Widow w the lowest dmg in the lobby 💀 & how im dogshit & avoided me Btw I was headshotting Mercy in the air multiple times that game & was keeping up w my other dps in elims 😮💨 I was losing braincells arguing w him
My favorite thing to do as sombra when defending at the start of a match is rush to their spawn and pin every single hero so people know who we're fighting. Especially on Numbani since usually people like to hold near the bus. Then if there's a widow.... kill her and flee.
You ever seen those old overwatch memes "when i'm playing (character) vs when the enemy plays (character)" and its always this contrast of lucky moments etc vs like, the top 100 players in the other spectrum. I feel that when i watch this. When I play sombra, you think I get 1 bullet off coming out of stealth? Most of the time, as soon as you tap that hck button or press the fire key, 4 of the enemy has already entered bullet time, turned their gun to your head and fired a shot in the time it took to come out of stealth and i have 1 hp left and gotta run. I have NEVER in my 4k hours of overwatch managed to fire that many shots on a widow before they reacted, its cwazy. Players nowadays are not human.
Samito can suck my ass (in a bad way) but yes honestly the crit damage from virusing a hacked targeted its too great to miss out, but its probably because he has the aim to pull off consistently when the enemy is already alerted by hack.
this is actually one of the most informational videos i've watched. i took your suggestions while practicing as sombra and i can say for sure that i've seen improvement. thanks for the tips lol
I often find shooting and then virusing, especially with a support Same with the emp, if no one is there is better to just regroup and try to put pressure elsewhere
Crazy how accurate this guy is with his responses and knowledge of the character,.exactly what a true sombra main would know, but I ain't giving out advice,.I would very highly recommend Questron on yt (who I believe recently made a video about emongg) (or against him in ranked)
Thats exactly how I felt as tank the other day. Played Rein on Suravasa, died early on and Mercy blew up chat saying i was trash. I didn't die again and we ended up sweeping them. Did they apologize after immediately freaking out? No, did they end up performing as the worst support in the game? Yes.
As a sombra enjoyer, I was so ready to roll my eyes at a complaining moira... but this sombra did nothing at all in the first part of the map, so I see what she was complaining about. After that, wildly inconsistent. Kept missing easy opportunities, including two times when junkrat ulted in a vulnerable spot.
I got asked to swap Lucio recently; they said that they wanted more damage on my part. I had more damage (and healing) than them. They were playing Moira as the second healer 😐
Eh, I’d have also been annoyed at how often they spent invis. Lower ranked Sombras either spend wayyyy too much time invis or they choose the worst moments to engage/emp in a 1 v 5.
Not me. If i start dogging you in the beginning of a match and you end up holding your own or popping off, I eat humble pie and acknowledge that you clearly know what youre doing in the role and I just need to shut-up and focus on my own. Did it just last night with a Zarya that I was playing with.
How about you try just being positive from the beginning? I’m tired of whiny babies in OW. Even if it isn’t directed to me, it’s annoying to everyone that has to listen to people like you yap.
as a sombra main... ppl if you wanna play her go to settings and look for one that makes you look into the direction you trow your tp and turn it off!!! if you do you'll be way faster being able to trow tp and alreddy turn to the enemies to shoot at them pls this gameplay hurts my poor little sombra brain!!!!! for piets sake DX
Bronze 2 DPS here. I had a comp game and I was in for about 5 minutes before I DC’d. Came back, picked Sombra dude starts complaining and saying anyone but her…..we won
there is like only 6 character u dont always lead with virus, Bap, Mei, Moira, Kiri, Ana and sometimes Weaver cause his jump ability. You shoot first to force their abilities out if they hadn't used it yet. Every situation is different but some people forget others have get out of jail free cards. I would also say Reaper but just dont try to 1v1 a reaper at full hp, ya aint gonna win
Does this player have 'camera lock during transolcator' switched on? I think they do? if so, top tip, turn that off and feel the freedom of translocating shenanigans!
tbh sombra is better off just farming ult with the 4s cd virus and building ult instead of trying to play an assassin style (especially if ur mechanics are too great)
I enjoy playing sombra but everyone hates her. Which, I don't understand why? Sombra is very easy to kill. I try to only play in certain instances or if the other team has a sombra. I am led to believe that people who don't like sombra just don't have good aim.
Honestly, I main Junk. If somebody takes him first, I'll try to play somebody else. But I won't critique the other person unless they are truly bad. I do try to apologize for how bad I am, bc I don't play/main the other character much though as well.
Sombras can get reasonably high dmg, I think the highest Ive gotten is like 14k with her and Ive only got like 70hrs in OW2... But yeah dmg 100% doesnt reflect a sombras effectiveness. If youre playing her properly you shouldnt be trying to get the same stats as the likes of Cass, Ash, 76, Phara etc
Nah icl I've blamed a sombra before, one game I had were I was mercy and I kept getting sniped by the widow, I asked our sombra if she could kill the widow since... sombra is good for killing widows. And she just ignored the dps and would constantly go for the tank? Me and the other support (we were qued together) were constantly dying to the widow...
no cus 50% of the time when i play widow and lose ill get bullied for having no damage but its like shes not a high damage character? i mean i guess she could be if you were insane but im not an insane widow soooo
Flam every single Sombra. If they think she should be used then rip them apart. Bottom feeders of the gaming world period. Never trust a Sombra user in real life. I promise they are not trustworthy at all.
I hate all sombras. Sombras on my team, zombies on the other team, zombies in videos. She is without a doubt the WORST character in the game. Her only purpose is to make the game not enjoyable for others. Just hearing this person say she's fun... I lost all respect she deserves to be flamed

I would suggest practice virus first and shoot like emongg said, i used to do hack virus cause I'm so used with the old Sombra, but lately I've been doing virus shoot because I saw that even throwing virus can make em panic, so even if you can't get close to them, just throw virus and shoot from far away to just make them look at you 🤣
This reminds me of a tank complaining about me being Widow w the lowest dmg in the lobby 💀 & how im dogshit & avoided me
Btw I was headshotting Mercy in the air multiple times that game & was keeping up w my other dps in elims 😮💨 I was losing braincells arguing w him
12:40 what I like to do is translocate over the rein and hack him with a good folowup the rein is gone in a few seconds
The ending 😭😭😭
they need to think of virus like concussion mines, you want to use it immediately (when you used to be able to 2 shot on junk)
My favorite thing to do as sombra when defending at the start of a match is rush to their spawn and pin every single hero so people know who we're fighting. Especially on Numbani since usually people like to hold near the bus. Then if there's a widow.... kill her and flee.
In top 500, I think she did well waiting for orisa to be back there.

ALRIGHT SO!
I will say, emong says you dont have to lead with hack but it is a good stun on peoples minds, they always panic lol
They also get annoyed getting hacked constantly
Samito says always lead with hack because you need the extra dmg to get an elim. The health increase to 250 probably caused this. Thoughts?
Samito can suck my ass (in a bad way) but yes honestly the crit damage from virusing a hacked targeted its too great to miss out, but its probably because he has the aim to pull off consistently when the enemy is already alerted by hack.
Say whaaaat? Is he still saying that?
Also, what extra damage? Virus deals 25 extra impact damage against a hacked target. That's it
Learning how to play a hero in a ranked match is a HORRIBLE idea
The basics sure but after that the only way to learn is against good players
this is actually one of the most informational videos i've watched. i took your suggestions while practicing as sombra and i can say for sure that i've seen improvement. thanks for the tips lol
I often find shooting and then virusing, especially with a support
Same with the emp, if no one is there is better to just regroup and try to put pressure elsewhere
I hack if they have movement abilities that could ruin my chance of securing the kill (Moria, Reaper, etc.).
I started playing sombra after her first changes in ow 1 I still catch myself leading with hack lol, old habits die hard 😂
Crazy how accurate this guy is with his responses and knowledge of the character,.exactly what a true sombra main would know, but I ain't giving out advice,.I would very highly recommend Questron on yt (who I believe recently made a video about emongg) (or against him in ranked)
Where do I go to have my gameplay Spectated, I feel like I would learn so much from him.
best counter to sombra is sombra. You must become the rat to catch the rat 👍
Sorry bro, they pick Sombra, I flame. That's how the world works, lol.
That's just an excuse for being a kunt
This is how I played old sombra. Havent played new sombra, cuz I didnt get much value as old sombra lul
I have people throw games from the very beginning because they don't get to play their HERO!
I flame sombra because she’s cringe not because of the players skill
I got asked to swap Lucio recently; they said that they wanted more damage on my part. I had more damage (and healing) than them. They were playing Moira as the second healer 😐
leading with the virus has its benefits
I got flamed as tracer because I didn't have "enough damage"
Eh, I’d have also been annoyed at how often they spent invis. Lower ranked Sombras either spend wayyyy too much time invis or they choose the worst moments to engage/emp in a 1 v 5.
I do just want to point out, if you want to kill a mercy pocketed person, if you hack and then virus and shoot them, the mercy cant outheal the dmg
Mercy can't outheal Sombra before the virus and the passive. Killing a pocketed target with decent aim + virus is more than enough
This really depends on the hero
Obviously Widow should die every time
Hot take: helping a sombra get better should give a 2 hour ban.
Earlier today I got a hack on a diva trying to get back into her mech and I stopped her!!!! I was so proud of myself bc I’m silver lmaooooo
Even if it isn’t directed to me, it’s annoying to everyone that has to listen to people like you yap.
as a sombra main...
ppl if you wanna play her go to settings and look for one that makes you look into the direction you trow your tp and turn it off!!!
if you do you'll be way faster being able to trow tp and alreddy turn to the enemies to shoot at them
pls this gameplay hurts my poor little sombra brain!!!!!
for piets sake DX
Sombra is definitely a hero you need confidence to play
When i play sombra I basically spam ping 😂 I’m Sova main in Val lol
Flaming Sombras is my main roll, tank is just a secondary 😁
Yeah don’t lead with hack. And also try to be closer. She is using tiny SMG not a battle/assault rifle.
You should dive on widow.
What skin did there kiriko have?
Hashimoto, a shop skin from earlier this season. It's not available anymore, but will probably return around this time next year.
@@ImmortalBan47 thanks
Does this player have 'camera lock during transolcator' switched on? I think they do? if so, top tip, turn that off and feel the freedom of translocating shenanigans!
tbh sombra is better off just farming ult with the 4s cd virus and building ult instead of trying to play an assassin style (especially if ur mechanics are too great)
I enjoy playing sombra but everyone hates her. Which, I don't understand why? Sombra is very easy to kill. I try to only play in certain instances or if the other team has a sombra.
I am led to believe that people who don't like sombra just don't have good aim.
They also generally have the awareness of a coconut
Flaming in overwatch? That'll be a 1 month ban.
Ok, he started out kinda horrible, but in the mid of the game it was pretty decent play
Every sombra is trash .
They do suck as Sombra. Downtime AFK was terrible. Supports were right.
Please allow console to adjust fov. Much appreciated as my gun takes up a third of my screen
I'm pretty sure console has the same fov as the max on PC, 103
@@maxwellprince5742 it does as the default but pc can get theres to 180
@@maxwellprince5742 that is fuckin insane.
@@tristanbabineau1532tf are you talking about? Max is 103 for pc players in the options menu.
no cus 50% of the time when i play widow and lose ill get bullied for having no damage but its like shes not a high damage character? i mean i guess she could be if you were insane but im not an insane widow soooo
Yes
bro wft is this dont play sombra like this what is this bronce
Flam every single Sombra. If they think she should be used then rip them apart. Bottom feeders of the gaming world period. Never trust a Sombra user in real life. I promise they are not trustworthy at all.
I hate all sombras. Sombras on my team, zombies on the other team, zombies in videos. She is without a doubt the WORST character in the game. Her only purpose is to make the game not enjoyable for others. Just hearing this person say she's fun... I lost all respect she deserves to be flamed
