A guy who made remixes of the game's music, SharaX, decided to make a mashup of this song with one of the themes of a character in the game, whose name was Sans. This theme was only used for the bad ending of the game and was called Megalovania, and SharaX decided to name the mashup Tokyovania. He originally made the mashup song to show the feelings of Sans and his brother, Papyrus, in the bad ending, as this song is about, from what I have heard in the comments, depression and anxiety. The mashup would later be used for a fanmade character of the game, Ink Sans. For some reason, Undertale fans thought that this song was the one that copied Tokyovania, as Tokyovania was made in 2015 and this was released on TH-cam in 2017. As a 20 year old listening to this song again, I tear up remembering how mentally unhealthy I was at the age of 14. I wish I could tell my younger self that things were gonna be ok. I felt so alone, so much pressure to fit in. I wanted to be the “smart kid”. I wanted to please my parents and give them a better life when I was older. If you are suffering with mental illness please reach out before things get dangerous. I wish I did. And I regret it. As an young adult now, I still suffer with mental illness but the pressure of high school and adolescence is gone. I feel much better now. :) This song will forever be a part of my life and I appreciate it cuz I knew I wasn’t alone in the world, others felt the same way. :)
Totally understand you! I'm looking for some of the songs that I used to hear when I was younger and is shocking how sad or creepy they sound. Things almost got dangerous to me, I remember that this song used to be a way for me to express my rage and sadness. Ok so I’m just gonna say what I personally think the song means So there is this boy who runs away from a probably abusive home. He has nothing after that but the inner pain that he tries to make physically by hurting himself and wanting to cut his face in pieces with a scissor. I personally feel that one line where he says “tell me I don’t need anything but my brain” so I feel like the abuse I was talking about at the start is like a mental abuse of the parents only care about academics. I personally grew up with this type of parents so I’m interpreting it more like how my parents raised and gaslighted me. Basically it’s like they don’t care about anything but grades so he could try suwer slide and they would say something like “you can think about that but not about your grades” which is REALLY toxic. So the reason why he said sorry to them at the start is because of his academics. He says sorry for being a “mistake”, he says sorry for being useless, he says sorry for being a disappointment. At the end he just doesn’t even have the strength to keep going so he commits. Now after I read through all of that I think that the good bye he says to everyone is more like a goodbye before he commits and the “brother sister, I’ll see you later” is like a “see u in another life” meaning.

As a 20 year old listening to this song again, I tear up remembering how mentally unhealthy I was at the age of 14. I wish I could tell my younger self that things were gonna be ok. I felt so alone, so much pressure to fit in. I wanted to be the “smart kid”. I wanted to please my parents and give them a better life when I was older.
If you are suffering with mental illness please reach out before things get dangerous. I wish I did. And I regret it.
As an young adult now, I still suffer with mental illness but the pressure of high school and adolescence is gone. I feel much better now. :)
This song will forever be a part of my life and I appreciate it cuz I knew I wasn’t alone in the world, others felt the same way.

Things almost got dangerous to me, I remember that this song used to be a way for me to express my rage and sadness. I met Jesus when I was 15/16 and if wasn't by Him I can't imagine how I would have destroyed myself.

Ok so I’m just gonna say what I personally think the song means
So there is this boy who runs away from a probably abusive home.
He has nothing after that but the inner pain that he tries to make physically by hurting himself and wanting to cut his face in pieces with a scissor.
I personally feel that one line where he says “tell me I don’t need anything but my brain” so I feel like the abuse I was talking about at the start is like a mental abuse of the parents only care about academics. I personally grew up with this type of parents so I’m interpreting it more like how my parents raised and gaslighted me.
Basically it’s like they don’t care about anything but grades so he could try suwer slide and they would say something like “you can think about that but not about your grades” which is REALLY toxic. So the reason why he said sorry to them at the start is because of his academics. He says sorry for being a “mistake”, he says sorry for being useless, he says sorry for being a disappointment. At the end he just doesn’t even have the strength to keep going so he commits.
Now after I read through all of that I think that the good bye he says to everyone is more like a goodbye before he commits and the “brother sister, I’ll see you later” is like a “see u in another life” meaning.
i think this meaning is the most accurate, at least the best possible interpretation that isnt fictional. if the song is based about something realistic, its definitely this

Yeah my parents only care about one thing and that is school and a sport I dont even want to be a part of so they give no shits about my mental health she is the equivalent of a school counselor so time to time when I dont feel well I slit my wrist to tell myself that if I hit a vein then I will bleed out one time I might of cut a vein a little bit and it bled for a while but yesterday and the day before I have slit my wrist a couple times since I have been feeling neglected lately I feel like I'm a tool of some sort the last thing that made me happy is the crazy ass weed trip I had yesterday
